I don't believe there's ever been a better magician than Slydini. He makes all those huge theatrical tricks look clumsy and cheap. Truly masterful and amazing in every way.
That was amazing...and very brave that he did it with 4 paper balls - so he has to repeat the routine 4 times. giving the audience a chance to see what he was doing. But honestly, unless you are someone who already knows a little bit about magic, you aint gonna catch what he is doing...absolute perfection.
Outstanding effect. I learned to do this before videos/DVD's when the only thing available was the two book set. One with pictures and one with the description and methodology. Makes me appreciate it more.
i know how he does the tricks, but still... i love watching him... he's so good, he's the master.. i could watch this over and over just admiring the moves =)
@mindfreakfan67 Think about it...when are the only times you actually saw him put his hand in the box? You don't even remember he did, right? That's why they call him the master of misdirection....
That's what makes the Magic. No different if your friend was helping you play the stooge. That's what got me. I'm thinking the host is right there to see anything. I didn't know Dick was a magician for the longest time. That's how I learned to figure out how to do this.
but everything he does is so fucking obvious I sometimes don't get how he gets away with it ... for example that trick at 5:10 ... I mean everybody can clearly see he just turns his hand over ... while that happens all the tobacco is obviously falling down before he makes a fist with his hand ... I mean is he doing that to show how simple a trick could be or does he not want us to know how it is done ?
Philip maybe that is why he created his own style of misdirection. He does it at the right moment when no one expect him to do a move. It is harder to misdirect through a video, but it works better live. Also, lay people does not think like us :)
I've read so much about Slydini's work and character but this is the first I've ever seen. He's a master for sure, any card stuff? Is he Italian then or is it all an act?
@mindfreakfan67 every time his hand goes all the way to the side his other hand goes to his lap picking up a paper ball he dropped before into his lap and he slips it into the box every time he sprinkles the "magic" from the box. Well thats my theory at least
@arntsen89 well my friend i might be able to help... altho i have not been able to pick up anything from his first trick (which was truly amazing) his second trick i managed to spot... if you look at 5:08 you'll see that he puts his hand under the table for a brief second. it is only brief but it is enough time for a sleight of hands magician... now if you look at 5:13 you will see the white cigarette in between his right hand... what he does with the broken cigarette i have yet to find out
figured it out cuz i know the techniques, but jesus, this men is a trully master, he controls that guy in a way he cant see anything, but he thinks he never stop paying attention, master.
@arntsen89 remember that EVERY action done by a magician is done for a reason! thats part of the twist. it may look like casual body movement but it is all carefully planned out... as you will see from the second trick that i managed to spot... the same goes with the last trick with the cigarettes... he puts his hand below the table for BRIEF second, but with sleight of hands like his, its MORE than enough time... =) ... its very very clever...
@whoolikesshortshorts you dont know what MISDIRECTION is... he brushing off the tobaco from his trousers when audiences have attention to the cigarette. dont be stupid
I saw this years ago and was completely fooled. This time... he just grabs the four balls off of his lap with his left hand, passes them to the right which then just dumps them into the box. Smooth, to be sure, but not as deceptive as I remember.
He isn't even a REAL MAGICIAN, magic was just his hobby, it's a shame he wasn't recognized until he was this old. When I say Real Magician I just mean he wasn't pro.
Actually he never was, he never went pro, of course he was far above pro but never was. His dad was a magician and wanted him to take his trade, but he never really did.
I love Slydinis mannerisms, the way he spoke, his movements. Always very hypnotic and enjoyable to watch.
I had the pleasure of meeting slydini many times and I’m gonna say he was a wonderful man and a great teacher
I watch this at least 3 times a week, and I am constantly amazed by this.
Beautiful. Artistry in motion. A true master of the art.

The timing, the misdirection... Everything fits so perfectly.. =DD
That is my great great great grandfather
thats amazing do you practice his work?
I gave up on catching him , the act is so beautiful to watch . It's better to just sit relax and enjoy every bit of it
Outstanding effect. I learned to do this before videos/DVD's when the only thing available was the two book set. One with pictures and one with the description and methodology. Makes me appreciate it more.
Fantastic! Thank you. We didn't get the Cavett show here in Oz, so seeing this is living a dream. Thanks again.
i know how he does the tricks, but still... i love watching him... he's so good, he's the master.. i could watch this over and over just admiring the moves =)
I've watched Slydini quite a few times now... this is the first time I have got so much as an intimation of the technique behind the magic.
Thank you for posting this! I love it!
A true master at work!
@mindfreakfan67 Think about it...when are the only times you actually saw him put his hand in the box? You don't even remember he did, right? That's why they call him the master of misdirection....
wow:) Even dai vernon, THE professor looked up to him. Thats saying alot
What a legend
A true old school master...
Dick Calvert is like a little child in front of Slydini! But from his POV he should be able to see Slydini's lap.
I so agree. He has been sitting in in the proper seat for years. Dick knows how great Tony is. He wouldn’t give him away.

Don't miss with Tony
Slydini... his name says it all
5.18 brushing tabaco off his trousers LOLOL
Beautiful Italian accent.

❤️❤️
@magicgon Tarbell is also legendary :)

Ha, i just realized how he does it!

why can't the guy sitting next to slydini see what he does? is he also in the act? because definitely, he can see what is happening.
I usally find a way to explain how tricks like this is done, but with this one I have no idea...
his mis direction is crazy, i get lost half wae thru it lol.
This is Master
of Missdirection
his birth name was Quintino Marucci, i believe.
Yeah, he was a right old pro.
at 6:31 you can hear Dick climax.
figured it out cuz i know the techniques, but jesus, this men is a trully master, he controls that guy in a way he cant see anything, but he thinks he never stop paying attention, master.

横から見ている司会者さんは丸見えのはずだけど。

Please be quiet.GOD!

i caught the cigarette just perfect timing, grabs new grit, dumps tobacco while covering hnds and out pops new grit.. well done though...
