Can’t wait to hit the p7cb. Thinking about going 8-pw and possibly the 7, but I gotta see how that goes for me. Also be thinking about going a degree flat. Hitting off mats the other day and noticed the burn I was getting. Looked like a degree flat would do me good
I went with the 7CBs in 8-pw. They’re fabulous irons. When you hit that perfect center strike, it just makes you smile. I went 770s in 5-7 (playing a hybrid at 4). My misses are a bit more frequent in the longer irons (toe side and low) and the 770s help mask that a bit. I’m a big fan of these irons so far, and don’t think you have to be an amazing ball striker to play them. Even when I do get a toe or low strike with the CBs, I’m not getting huge drop offs, but you’ll certainly get more feedback.
Been using my P770/P7CB combo set and the tp5x stripe daily since late-August; I have a 6i in the 770 and p7cb, the 770 is currently getting the nod in my bag. My game has been significantly more consistent on approach and iron shorts. I've been really happy with the numbers im getting out of each iron. My good ball striking days are a hair better compared to my old set, but my bad days are massively better.
The best golf company I have ever played for is Taylor made . I’ve never been so impressed with golf equipment until I switched to Taylor made. the driver is a game changer the wedges so dam good. The irons are so good the fairway wood hates me the putter so good the golf ball is so so so good. I am excited for January to see what taylormade comes out with. I’m very happy to play full bag of taylormade clubs they are my all time favourite.
Okay. No one commented on the Olsen/Taylormade stick?! Come on. It’s pretty sick looking. Also, the CBs are good. I had a chance to hit them this past week.
Qi10 max d, stealth 2hd fairway, stealth 2 hd 5 wood, 4 and 5 p790 and 6-pw p7cb, with a spider tour v putter and a couple callaway cb wedges for extra forgiveness as you can probably tell I lose shots around the green chipping.
Just added a UDI 3 iron looking at the courses I was playing they had smaller fairways so I was playing just off the fairway in the rough and the 7 wood was having to many miss hits. Still not sure that the 3 iron will stay but liking it for those par 5's. It also depends on courses I'm playing on if I'm going to play with 1 wood(driver not counted) or up to 3.
I bought the p7cb wedge to test out and the feel is very nice but again the swing weight is no where near the D3 advertised on the webpage, head feels heavy. Had the same problem with my pcmc 6 and 5 irons, these iron heads are were way too heavy.
Trottie, I still rock a TM rescue Dual 19-degree hybrid with the OG Taylormade steel lite shaft I think. I can bang it about 230 carry and love it! Truth be told and can bend the ball to the left a bit if I'm not careful.
Thanks Trottie...been waiting for this video all day! I am glad you mentioned bending your irons stronger than standard. I am thinking of doing the same in a new set off 770s/7CB combo (2 degrees stronger, and keeping the same 4 degree gaps between irons, since I am getting older and want a little more distance but like the feel of these irons) but how does that affect the offset and is offset something I should worry about?
I don't think 2* will truly hurt the offset but yes it'll make a slight difference. The other thing is you're gonna move everything so that puts me at ease knowing you're not messing about with offset between clubs. 2* is a lot so make sure you get the apex out of your ball and the spin numbers are efficient for your speed. Then it's winner status!
Any tips regarding grip wraps? I know I’m in between standard and medium and I’ve tried the +4 but didn’t like not having any taper although I’m a bit handsy at impact. I’ve been using 2 extra wraps on standard but need to re-grip my clubs but nervous about adding extra wraps as the last time I did the golf shop really stretched out my tour velvets. Any suggestions would be appreciated
You have to specify no stretch, I hate the stretch!! +4 you have your answer on. You say handsey but there's a lot out there that says larger grips don't impact that, I'm undecided on that theory but open to hear more / test more. I'd only go larger if you can afford to go back to 2 wraps. Adding a tape is easy in theory but a hard change for any player. My easy answer is to say stick to the 2 tapes and go from there but as I mention if money is no object then try the 3 tapes and scratch the itch.

@@tylernimocks I wouldn't know the specifics but I would assume it has to do with dynamic loft and face angle at impact. Absolute truth I haven't tested a lot of other clubs myself and I don't tend to. I have fit tour players into TM and gone up against other manufacturers and 9.9/10 I've managed to beat the opposing driver so that's never got me thinking about testing other stuff. I’m not Trottie, but… Start at standard if you’ve never been fitted before. Your body is accustomed to swinging std length, so it’s a great baseline. Then go up in .5” increments to see if dispersion improves or worsens. If you find you’re more comfortable swinging the longer clubs but dispersion isn’t improving, then look at lie angles because you may need to go flat to adjust for the extra length.
