Would I need this procedure? My nose is stuffy all year around and I'm on maintenance with my allergy injections. My shots have helped me but not with this chronic stuffiness.
thanks for this great video. Any insight on if balloon dilation of the maxillary sinuses affects a singer's voice / resonance - either positive or negative? My ENT has recommended this procedure due to chronic sinusitis/narrowed maxillary sinuses based on CT scan findings. Any feedback you can offer on either positives and negatives with patients who sing is much appreciated.
Marie B Hi Marie, In my experience I have never had a patient note a change to their singing voice or resonance after balloon dilation of the sinuses. One great thing about isolated balloon sinuplasty is that no tissue is removed and minimal changes are made to the natural sinus openings during surgery. You could discuss your concerns with your ENT to see what he or she thinks based on your specific anatomy and CT scan findings. Best, Dr. Lamperti
+Vinolia Vijayakumari No, balloon sinuplasty should only treat the inside of the nose so the outside of the nose would look the same. Best, Dr. Lamperti
There has been constant swelling of my cheek is it happening due to my deviated septum ? and the swelling disappears when I take heated facial steam and its a recurring process Can you briefly state what might be the cause. The FNAC suggested nothing
Hi Visesa, It's hard to know what is causing your cheek swelling without actually examining your nose. A deviated septum alone shouldn't cause external cheek swelling though. Best, Dr. Lamperti
I have been suffering from sinus from the very young age....now its getting bigger and bigger...will you please give me some advice how can I get rid of this dr..I would be really greatful.
Hi Dr. Lamperti, I know usually the surgery is recommended for sinusitis showing up on a ct scan. My history is severe rhinitis allergic and non and chronic nasal congestion usually on one side and causing chronic migraine headaches. My sinuses are hypersensitive and almost anything will cause them to react--cannot spray anything in them as they get irritated and then congestion and headache. They react to any slight irritant-smoke, perfume, odours, foods , dry room, etc..The ctscan has shown a bit of inflammation but sinuses are clear. Do you know if there have been cases of individuals with these type of symptoms? Thanks
+David Mrejen Yes, I have seen your type of symptoms in other patients. I can't really provide much of an opinion regarding what your best treatment options are without examining your nose, though. Best, Dr. Lamperti
+David Mrejen I have used balloon sinuplasty on patients who have very narrowed sinus openings into the nose, but this is to help with sinus pressure symptoms. I wouldn't necessarily expect balloon sinuplasty to help with nasal hypersensitivity. Best, Dr. Lamperti
Hello, I don't know of anyone specifically in the Dallas area who is experienced in balloon sinuplasty. You should be able to check out the Acclarent company website to find a credentialed surgeon in your area, though. Best, Dr. Lamperti
Hi Johan, Balloon dilation of the maxillary sinus is typically a permanent treatment. We wouldn't expect the sinus to close down again, but there is a rare chance of post-procedure scarring. Best, Dr. Lamperti
yeah I will go back to nose surgrey for test ct on may 9 and then will ready surgry nose on may 20 that why doctor said my nose broke "c" soft broken and doctor said my nose small narrow left and right big .. I told doctor that cant sleep like sound horse snores loud he got it understand know where my nose problem .. thank
I'm not sure if balloon sinuplasty is done in Romania. It is a relatively newer technique and not all sinus surgeons do the procedure. Best, Dr. Lamperti
It's hard to say if you're a candidate for this without having examined your nose, etc. This type of surgery is normally done under insurance so it's hard to say how much it costs overall as it depends a lot on your insurance coverage. Best, Dr. Lamperti
DrLamperti I want you do it for me still. i don't care about the money i got the cash. Because i am sick and tired of that thick slim in the back of my throat it makes me miserable. And doctor you don't have to examined etc, that's a waste , please just do it for me please. I cant live on antibiotics to keep the mucus from stopping it not healthy for me.
SexyCenamodelbabe Unfortunately, I'd still need to examine your nose and see a sinus CT scan to see if you're a candidate for the procedure. Best, Dr. Lamperti
No because the problem is I don't have the thick green and yellow mucus like others stuck in the back of their throat. I have the transparent thick white one, so the CT scan wont show it. This is so painful to hear you don't want to do it for me.
Excellent animation. This has really reduced my apprehension about having the procedure.
+Kay Farquar That's great that you found the video helpful! Best, Dr. Lamperti

Have any of theses patients undergone balloon sinuplasty with any success?
Thanks

Can you recommend a good ENT in Dallas that's experienced with this procedure?

Is the procedure permanent?
Hi Johan,

Thanks Dr Lamperti, I'll discuss with my doctor.
Will there be any pain or bleeding?
+Jacy Ho There can be some soreness and bleeding with balloon dilation of the cheek sinuses but it isn't usually severe. Best, Dr. Lamperti

I hope this procedure is practiced in Romania, probably not, Romania is in medieval times.

does chronic maxillary sinusitis causes bad breath?
Chronic sinusitis can cause bad breath, but most people with chronic sinusitis don't have that as one of their symptoms. Best, Dr. Lamperti
Thank You Dr. Lamperti
