    dude, wow, thank you for comparing these headsets, I own the Apple vision, Pro, and the quest, three, and I really wanted to buy the big screen beyond to use as a daily driver, your video was very honest and very informative. There hasn’t been a single video on TH-cam That’s given me, the important details needed to make a decision. I will be buying a big screen beyond because of your video, thank you so much for helping me make a decision.

      Apple Vision Pro will bring more people to the VR industry and more devs will start creating awesome apps because of Apple. The whole industry will be better because of Apple jumping in and people stealing ideas from Apple.

      How in all heck does avp bring “mOrE PeoPLe” to vr exactly?

      You must be joking.

    • @gamer.z3ro

      Well, many people who have never tried VR or AR will buy the device simply because it is an Apple product. Also, there are sooo many Apple Stores where people can walk in and try the device. See how cool it could be and either buy a Vision Pro or possibly buy a Quest 3 instead because it is cheaper. Right now where else can people try VR? Some Best Buy stores... such... but where else? Simply Apple having this device will garner more attention to the general public and people will know what VR and AR and XR is. Then you mention it is not a VR device. I can agree, but there are many VR aspects to it. Hvae you tried the Vision Pro? Have you gone into one of their environments? Hva eyou downloaded the Disney App and gone into one of their environments? You can make it 100% immersive (so VR).
      For $3500 the Vision Pro isn't worth it in its current state and the lack of the right apps for it, but 1-3 years from now it should be an amazing device.

    I got my Quest 3 for $280 and its the best thing I bought this year. I'm super happy with what I can do with it. What needs to happen is the quality of vr content that's currently available right now. Not all content are high resolution. The ones that are will be the ones that help drive the vr industry.

      I bought a Quest 3 also, about a month ago, and I've looked at a lot of the environments, short 3D films (both photographic and others using computer graphics), "The Faceless Lady" horror series, a few simple games, etc., and found the resolution and lighting to be lacking in a lot of these productions, below what many other productions I've looked at on the Quest 3 can display. A lot of these were produced starting some time around 2020, before even the Quest 2 was available, and even earlier in the case of the NASA films and some others, so that might partly explain the poor image quality of these earlier productions, though I'm guessing that good 3D cameras were available at that time, but apparently not good enough when you're blowing up those visuals to the big virtual window sizes that you can get with these headsets. Too many productions are also darker than the Quest 3 can display, and sometimes this seems to be an attempt to reduce the amount of detail that the Quest 3 has to display, but then other productions show significantly more detail without being too dark. The quality of the visuals really varies all over the map, from one production to another, and sometimes even in the same production. So better production values are needed, and maybe some better 3D camera equipment too.

    • @gamer.z3ro
      @gamer.z3ro  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      A ton of content is dumbed down for Quest devices. Have you ever played a Quest native game and then played the same game PCVR with your Quest? Makes a world of difference. Also, some content back from 2016-2020 wasn't the greatest as they were all still figuring out what works with VR. Different panels and lenses (LCD or OLED and pancake, aspheric or pancake lenses) will cause the content to look a certain way.
      I also watched content on the Quest 3 and on the Apple Vision Pro and the Vision Pro was lights out a better quality video. Both standalone devices, but Apple has a better processor and OLED panels with higher resolution.

      The Bigscreen Beyond set out to be a Small PCVR headset with great optics and that is exactly what they did. However, I do like that you can use the Quest 3 in stand alone mode or can do PCVR (wired or wireless).

    While watching this video and listening to the gaming section, I was coming here to complain that you skimmed over the whole virtual reality, gaming part. But when I got to the end and I saw that you went for the quest three I was relieved. I agree with you wholeheartedly! Apple Vision Pro is great for virtual watching point blank. I spend anywhere from 4 to 7 hours a day with my quest three in virtual reality, playing games and experiencing things that can’t be done with an apple Vision Pro. I’m glad that you gave a balance review, because most reviewers are skipping over that part.

      I am glad you liked the video. I am a VR gamer at heart. Between the 3 devices I feel they have pros and cons to them, but the overall best choice for gaming is the Quest 3. You can use it standalone or PCVR gaming and there are some cool apps coming out for productivity as well. I use my Bigscreen Beyond as my daily driver, but the Quest 3 is slowing taking over that spot because of the ease of use, wireless PCVR and I really love the Pro controllers.

    Dude about the lenses on the Quest 3, you are right on the nail. I started a few years back on the Quest 1 when it came out and upgraded to the Quest 2 the second it came out. The second I put my Quest 3 on, it was leaps and bounds better in terms of lenses, clarity and comfort. I found myself adjusting my Quest 2 constantly and it was annoying but still bearable as I had never tried anything better. Now with the Quest 3 I literally put in one in one second and its clear, and I can play for hours without adjusting it at all. It is amazing what only some new lenses can do. If the Quest 3 Lite ever comes true, I hope the rumors about returning to fresnel lenses aren't true and they can get the price down for pancake lenses because I now truly believe they are essential.

    • @gamer.z3ro
      @gamer.z3ro  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Lenses can make a HUGE difference. Meta's pancake lenses are the best in the business right now. I hope they scrap the Quest 3 lite and just continue to sell the Quest 2. Then they can really go after the high end market and create a new Pro model to compete with the Apple Vision pro. The clarity on the Vision Pro would be EPIC to game with.

It doesn't have eye tracking or face tracking, but I didn't use those features with the games I play. The Quest 3 is a great device. Hey, I'm looking for the BOBOVR Elite head strap that you mentioned for my BSB, but it doesn't show up on searches. Discontinued or is the name right? Would any current offering work? (BOBOVR M1 Plus looks similar?) I'd love to get the print files if available. Thanks for the reviews, very informative. I need controllers too, which do you use the most with the BSB? The elastic headstrap on the BSB is just not up there with the product and the cable clip? **** , it is just beyond belief that the strap and cable clip made it through any form of user QA. My eyelashes mist up the custom lenses. The face mask magnets don't hold it into the chassis firmly enough for when you are handling the headset off the face, a half or a third of it will just flop around when you pick it up. Like others have said, a little bit bigger would have been better for USA sized faces . But hey, I am an engineer, so I'm extra critical, YMMV.

    • @gamer.z3ro

      For the Elite strap I mention you would be looking for the M1, M2 or M3 from BoboVR. As far as the 3D printed parts, I don't have them or the files. I have a friend who printed them and sent them to me. However, I 100% suggest to just get the Bigscreen Audio Strap instead or doing the BoboVR stuff. It is a much better solution and the sound is really good.
      As far as controllers... I might not be the right person to ask. I still use the Viive Wands. I never really liked the finger tracking on the Valve controllers. Majority of the VR community would rather have the Valve controllers over the Vive wands which is why I first said I might not be the best person to ask. If you have ever used Meta's controllers you might want to consider the Pimax sword controllers. Very similar shape and hand placement, but with the lighthouse tracking ring over your wrist.
      As far as the elastic head strap... I understand why they did it. They were really focused on the VRChat community and being able to lay down comfortably and sleep with it and watch movies with it. I just personally feel they didn't take into account the vast majority of VR users who never use their headset for movies or VRChat or laying down. If you look at those who got to try out the headset during development... they are all VRChat people.
      I will be making a 1 year of ownership video soon and also making a wish list for a Beyond 2 video shortly thereafter.

We want to shoot more and more 180° VR videos in the future but we want to be able to show it to future prospects without any hassle. In my opinion it would be the Meta Quest 3, BUT you could start running into a memory issue with the Quest depending on the video file sizes and such. If the Apple Vision Pro wasn't so user specific with IPD and such I would say the Vision Pro. 100% out of the question because the Bigscreen Beyond has a fixed IPD. That means the screens are in a fixed position and do not move. So, if you bought a Bigscreen Beyond with a 62 IPD it will only look good to those with a 62 IPD and look blurry to everyone else.

      The Apple Vision pro and Quest 3 both have IPD adjustments. Apple's takes longer and requires more customers input... the Quest 3 is simply a slider on the bottom of the headset that the customer would either widen or shorten the lenses to see more clearly. The Quest 3 is cheaper as well. There is an app called "The Spatial App" on the Quest App Store where you can turn a Quest 3 into a decent version of the Apple Vision Pro. I would 100% go with a Quest 3. Maybe a second gen Vision Pro will be easier and better, but right now it isn't fully there.

      There hasn't been much content because once a product is not new and shiny the TH-camrs stop talking about. My personally, I moved and that caused a 3 months where I didn't get a chance to do much. I will be doing a few videos this week or next week (depending on my work schedule) and going through a few custom maps in Onward.
      I personally do not know of an experience to tell the difference between LCD and OLED. If you currently have an Index (for instance) or a Quest 2, 3 or Pro and go to a dark scene... it is grayed out and not actually black. With OLED it would be pitch black and on a per pixel basis. It is just more real life in that aspect.
      As far as upgrading the Beyond to be more like the Vision Pro... it isn't really possible. No passthrough and there is almost no way to have cameras for passthrough and eye tracking and hand tracking all linked up to the Beyond and have it all be powered unless you have a ton of wires going from your computer to the headset. Then software wise there would have to be software created to make the Beyond be more like the Vision Pro. When buying all of that stuff and the headset you should have just bought a Vision Pro instead.

I wish I could play some SteamVR games with the Vision Pro. Right now Apple is the king when it come to that kind of clarity. Great video! Couple of things... First, you mentioned the HTC Vive Pro in your video, and that it was not one that you would recommend. I do want to clarify, were you talking about the Vive Pro 2? I am currently looking for a VR headset primarily for gaming, although productivity and watching content would be something I'd enjoy as well. Out of all the headsets currently available, the HTC Vive Pro 2 seems like the best one. I am not interested in any of the Meta headsets; not because I don't like the headsets themselves, but because I don't like Meta as a company. If you were not talking about the Vive Pro 2, how does that compare to these other ones in your opinion?
    Second, I do really hope that Apple continues to improve their attention to gaming. If MacOS was just as good for gaming as Windows, I would have said goodbye to Windows/Microsoft a long time ago, as MacOS is my favorite operating system by far. If I had the money I would definitely still get a Vision Pro for the content consumption. I'm just hoping that they bring gaming to it over time, because that would be a whole new level of amazing.

      So, I was talking about the Vive Pro. I had the Vive Pro 2 for about a week and returned it. It was a major flop for HTC. The vertical FOV is trash, still using fresnel lenses is just not a great device for the money. Also, the Vive Pro 2 doesn't use OLED screens like the Vive Pro did. I personally didn't enjoy the device and is old tech. If you were to get an HTC device you might want to check out the Vive XR Elite instead. I have never used it, but it is their latest device.
      As far as Apple and gaming. Apple usually doesn't have chip capable enough for good gaming, but the Vision Pro is different. It would do really great in the stand alone space and hold its own. I use my windows computer strictly for gaming and I have a Mac Mini for my day to day stuff/work.
      I do hope that Apple does get into the gaming area with the headset, but it will really be up to developers to make games that are great and have the ability for hand tracking (at least with this generation).

      2 types of tracking in VR. One is using cameras like the Meta Quest devices and the Apple Vision Pro. The other is using Lighthouses to track the headset and controllers like many of the Vive Headsets, Valve Index and Bigscreen Beyond. Lighthouse tracking is the gold standard in tracking, but camera tracking is catching up and is a great alternative.
      For me personally, I love lighthouse tracking because I do play competitively and I want to have my headset and controllers tracked perfectly.
      If you buy the Quest 3 or Quest 3s or the Apple Vision Pro... you open the box and start playing instantly. If you want a Bigscreen Beyond you'll have to have Vive Wands or Valve Knuckles controllers and at least 2 Lighthouses to track everything. It just adds to the ticket price. A vast majority of people who bought the Beyond was already VR users with a Vive headset or Index headset so they already had the lighthouses and controllers.
      I hope that answered your question.

    No the AVP is a vr headset plain and simple. Spacial computing is just a marketing tagline that describes what every vr headset does, computes and displays in space. I get your point, but it's just buying into apple marketing lingo. It's just an evolution of all the vr headsets that came before it with nothing new in terms of hardware, it's all been done somewhere already and they brought it all together into one package.

      Well, I would consider the Vision Pro more of an XR device. Majority of the time you have the Vision Pro on your face you're in passthrough mode. You could change it and go into an environment, but many people will have multiple windows up and walking around their house and be in passthrough mode. Also, there isn't much to do in VR yet. Apple is one of those companies that pushes their agenda and views the world with blinders on. We the people and developers need to almost force Apple into the gaming space.
      As far as nothing new... you're right in that aspect. Nothing new harware wise other than having 1 chip do one thong and te other chip handle other tasks. That is new. The new part is the software. Apple really nailed it with their software.

      You think so? I think the Quest 3 would be better than the Pico 4 as far as controllers, software, library of apps, and accessories available for it.

    I have the Quest 3, tried the Quest 3. Bro, it is... to ME, it is uncomfortable. Too much pressure on forehead after just an hour. I even get a headache... you are saying you have the same feeling with the Apple Vision Pro. It's the same for me with Quest 3. Apple Vision Pro looks to be a lot more comfortable, and I love the strap. It looks comfy, but you say it's rigid. Can it be adjusted for comfort? Also, Quest 3 has an extremely grainy pass through. It's like looking at a phone camera with a very very low resolution.
    The Big Screen Beyond looks super cozy, yeah. But even there, you're saying it has problems. I personally would like to try the APV. It just looks super cool. By the way, you didn't mention the weight of each device. I can see though, that the APV looks heaviest. So, not really sure which path to take....🤔
    PS - No, you aren't full of crap. LOVED this review! So. Thank you.

      So, for me I HATE the stock fabric straps these VR companies try to use. I really need an aftermarket rigid strap. On my Quest 3 I have the BoboVR M3 Strap and love the comfort with that.
      The pain with the Apple Vision pro is on the forehead AND on the cheek. The weight just pushes down on the checks and it is irritation and gives me a headache. When other aftermarket straps comes out for the Vision Pro it will be WAY more comfortable. But as of today there really isn't anything great as an aftermarket rigid strap that helps keep the device balanced on someones head/forehead/cheeks.
      As for passthrough... the Quest 3 isn't bad... but its not great either. The vision Pro looks WAY more clear, but it is just really dim. I wish they could have a slighter to brighten the camera feed, but with a brighter camera feed you'll have higher persistence and have more motion blur.
      As far as the Bigscreen Beyond... it is my favorite device for gaming, but doesn't have some of the work/productivity features people may light. It is the more comfortable of them all because of it being the lightest headset. I just wish there were real accessories available for it instead of having to 3D print something.
      There is no perfect headset right now. The perfect headset would be the software of the Visions Pro with the clarity/resolution of the Vision Pro with the Pancake lenses of the Quest 3, game/app library of Meta, the Quest 3/Pro controllers and accessories for Quest devices and the lightness of the Bigscreen Beyond with lighthouse tracking... all while having SteamVR functionality.

      @@gamer.z3ro cool. Yeah the pain with the Q3 is mostly on my forehead. I don't know how to work with that so it won't bother. As for the Vision Pro, I really need to try it for myself. It just looks to be the most comfy, imo. But having seen where you have it stretched to the cheek area, it does look uncomfortable there too.

      Not sure where you are located, but if you're in the United States go check out your local Apple Store and they are giving demos. You'll be able to tell in their 20-30 min demo if you like the device and the comfort or not.

    Xbox and Quest need(ed) to team up. That may have helped Xbox before they decided to leave hardware... 😥I guess PC VR kind of does that.

    • @gamer.z3ro
      @gamer.z3ro  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wonder how much money Xbox actually made on hardware versus just making games? It might be more profitable for them to make just the games. But here is the kicker... who now challenges Playstation and pushing Playstation to be better? Thats why I like Apple Vision Pro being a success. It forces these other VR makers to be better and push the envelop. As far as Xbox and Quest teaming up... how cool would an actual Halo game on Quest be?

      They are both trying to do different things (at the moment). Apple is really pushing hard to the work/productivity and content and Meta is really focused on gaming and they are trying to get into the work/productivity. The issue with Meta is they are not using good enough screens yet.

      I know there are a ton of productivity apps, but the clarity is not what it is with the Apple Vision Pro which, in my eyes, hinders people wanting to use the Quest 3 for productivity. Too much eye strain. I do think Meta will take what Apple is doing and put it into their software as well, but Apple does currently have a better software. It is pretty amazing. Especially for a first gen device.
