- In this video, I talk to you about 5 symptoms of exhaust problems with your car. If you think that your car has an exhaust leak or a problem with the exhaust system, this video will help you to diagnose the problem and figure out a repair for it. With that being said, you should be looking for multiple symptoms appearing with each other. I wouldn't recommend going out and replacing the whole exhaust system as soon as you see one of these symptoms; but rather, these are indications that you should look into the condition of your exhaust system.

I think that if you and Scotty Kilmer had a conversation within 2 miles of any vehicle, there would be manifold leaks for days.
So much better than a slow monotone voice. I’m not mechanically inclined and know little to nothing about cars so his enthusiastic explanation helped me understand what the heck to look for without without getting confused or falling asleep.

I appreciate the video brother. I had a lake in my exhaust. It turns out there was so much moisture it started to rote. I have an Infiniti G37x which is a smooth-sounding car. I notice my car sounding like it was tuned. I knew something was wrong. I was losing gas wasting money. I had the front exhaust Y replaced. You can't even tell if the car is on or not it's so quiet.

I really thought someone would answer my question (this was a month ago) when I asked "by accident I overfilled the antifreeze container and since then I have that smell of it, is that bad?

When i release gas, theres a popping sound like a backfire. I have after market exhaust and headers. Is it gaskets in headers or exhaust system?
Mine seems to make more sound when I slow down it rumbles a little louder than normal and I reversed and went forward and could smell the fumes? Plus my petrol gauge went from 50miles to 20 in the space of 3 miles? Is this a sign?
Help please !! My kawaski ninja 250r 09 keeps running fine then even so often it don't idle and when trying to give it any throttle the bike struggles to rev and on other situation it can get stuck at 6000rpm and stay there . I did recently have a nock on the side of the bike I don't know whether this would have caused any problems to it.. also I can get it going on the main road with some rev but will change gear up and go faster to like 40 mph but will only let you give it a little throttle and the middle of my exhaust i think exact where the cat is and glows bright red but no wear else on it

I have a Nissan rogue . When I bought the car it was so quiet you couldn't hear it running . Over the 3 years that I've had this car it has went from silent to slightly loud. Sounds like it's exhaust leak but I've had it to chew muffler shops and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. Can you give me an advice on what to check or have them check for? Also, when I go down the highway and I give it gas it sounds like it's a hot rod. I don't know if it's that loud on the outside but on the inside you can hear it shifting through all the gears. Help. my car has this rough noise albeit mild during acceleration (sounds like something is leaking out of a hole) and it whistles as I decelerate.. I brought a new 2021 chevy and only one exhaust is throwing out exhaust. The dealer is saying that the exhaust has a chunk of ice inside and its frozen . Have to wait until it gets warmerfor it to melt. We had days that it was 50 degrees i just cant believe this! Had other cars and this never happened . What do u think?

I changed the air fuel sensor
And on day 1 i drove it then at work got stranded come to find out I need a new battery .
So I get a new battery for it and I'm on my way. But noticed ever since changing the air fuel sensor my car accelerate poorly and the back mufflers sound alot louder very noticeable when I hit the gas .
Was wondering if you know why this is happening?

I must confess you are made very good points without unnecessary showiness.
In addition to what you said put two jack stands plus one jack when you are working under the car with removed wheel. One will save your life if two fails. It is only $20 more approximately to but second jack stand.
Don't try to patch the hole in the muffler to save money. That is what I did and my car was just drinking gasoline like an elephant. You don't save money by patching the hole. You are actually wasting a lot of money to make blocked muffler work.
My sterinng hoses were leaking and wet the exhaust pipe could there be a problem with that

Smoke coming out of an exhaust system is pretty much associated with engine problems. White smoke, blue smoke, black smoke, etc....

Very good information. I think it's best to have the manual transmission in neutral with the parking brake on and engine off. I really like all the comments about the loudness of your voice. They were so funny to read.
Gear 1 are Reverse gear are the parking gears for manual transmission. If you park a manual transmission in Neutral and something accidentally depresses your hand break or that the break suddenly disengages for any reason, your car may move and cause an accident.
I get a headache when I drive my car for 2+ hrs straight. Sometimes I smell exhaust in the car when it has been idling and I enter the vehicle. Yesterday I did hear what is prob a hanger drag and then fall off near engine. Does that even make sense?

My exhaust pipe pops up the middle for a while after i drive over a period of time and turn off my engine but My car andworks perfectly fine. I'm thinking the exhaust pipe may be releasing pressure built up or some metal parts are extracting back after its cooling .
so my exhaust has broken 3 times already at first two first times they were old parts so i kinda said it was maybe because of the parts being old but the third time i bought a new part which came with the flex pipe and the catalytic converter. First the flex pipe broke (the knitted part) , it got loose and i noticed i had a leak because it got really loud. Later on i heard a louder noise and a rattle and when i checked the part that connects to the headers broke so now its just blowing straight air out of the headers. I don t know if my engine is moving and its breaking the exhaust or something but im running out of ideas to fix it idk if i should go to a muffler shop or just get a new part. Anyone one know what I could do??
Whelp I definitely have a weird smell when accelerating hard but can’t tell if it’s “exhaust” or the smell of burning oil. Been a min sense I smelt burning oil so it’s hard for me to tell the difference at the moment. But my exhaust didn’t just randomly get loud. But will have a constant sound then accelerate some and it will like and instead of the same sound getting louder as I go it like idk how to explain it other then sounds like my engine is having troubles pushing all the gas out so it builds up or it’s escaping out of a leak

I needed to hear this, you named two symptoms that my car is doing. A metallic smell (could be a bad air filter) and noise. ( two different sounds) one is kind of high pitched idling, and the other is almost a low pitch grind periodically. Not the breaks, those were just changed. (could be under the hood) Hard to tell. It is due for some routine maintenance work, perhaps that will take care of some of it. I wonder if low lubes can cause noises. Great vid!

Yea your car is designed by engineers to run perfect. Now that you straight piped more air is exiting that can cause problems your car might start burning more fuel start acting funny ask a trustworthy mechanic what I’m talking about they will give you more info dyno tuning is the one of the ways to fix it!
