Yep they couldn't have just did a ribbon cable with a connector, had to solder it!

Great job! Is that just regular flux that is already heated or is it a liquid flux? Could you share where to buy with a link to a retail outlet of your choice?

Thank you, it is no clean liquid flux. It comes in a syringe and I believe I got it from Amazon.

I recently learned that Apple likes to solder their charging ports, I am just now trying to figure out how to solder, I've practiced on bread boards, very basic stuff. What would you say the skill level to do this is? Better yet where can I get better practice?

It is not a hard solder job because of the sight holes you have to line up and it is easy to see when each pad is done. The BIGGEST thing you have to watch out for is taking the old port off. You really want to use a hot air rework station and do not try and pull the old one off, you will pull the pads up with the port and you are in big trouble. The old port needs to be heated up enough that is basically falls off.

Yeah it would have been just as easy for Apple to just use a push or slide connection for the port which would make it much more serviceable! But that is not what they are interested in. Thank you for the comment!
