      I still watch that often, Acceptance being my favorite part, what a piece of brilliance, and that insane level of emotion. That's why Dan's my favorite on vocals.

      @@marynvos4028I've found that a lot of people think Acceptance is the best. For some reason I prefer Origin 😁

      @@PHLCoffeeSnob It's actually really hard for me to pick a favorite TesseracT song or even parts of songs, never mind an album even 😅 mood plays a role for sure, but damn, the whole of Concealing Fate is a masterpiece for sure. They really showed their hand there, you know. But I'm definitely obsessing about Legion at the moment, can't get over it 😁

    Tesseract! Another one of my favorite bands that I always wanted you guys to check out. There are a few bands who are considered big evolutions on the djent style Meshuggah kind of started. Periphery and Tesseract are two, and I think Periphery might be if Meshuggah was more fun and varied, and Tesseract is what Meshuggah would sound like if they were more theatrical and beautiful.
    This is from the album they just released a week ago, and it kind of amazed even long time Tesseract fans because the lead singer here, Daniel Tompkins, has always been incredible...and he reached another level on this album. He busts out all kinds of new sounds that he's never used before and this song has him flipping between different voices more than usual. A lot of people were really amazed, and I kind of feel like this isn't a good first introduction to the band because it's such a big, in your face kind of performance.
    Definitely listen to more, since you guys like Meshuggah and Periphery. Tesseract is well known, but if you look at their social media engagement, they really don't get that much attention for some reason. I think people know OF them, but don't actually check them out. There's plenty of options. You can do more from this album, like War of Being...or you can try an older classic, like Concealing Fate, Nocturne, or Dystopia.

    Tesseract is a great band and I'm excited to see them live again next month. Figured you guys would like them since u like Periphery. Both bands are so technical yet they can create great melodic bits. Both singers are great at transitioning from clean to harsh vocals. Huge vocal range.

  • @necalovescake

    tesseract are a band that grows on you the more you listen, the first few times its like there something there but it didnt quite come together, it didnt exactly click, but you hear a few more tunes and then something really works and when you get into their vibe its a hook. id suggest:
    'tourniquet' or 'smile' both studio album versions. but honestly theyre the kind of band like opeth where theres so many songs at a similar level you could throw up a list of 25 tunes and make an argument that any one of them should be the one to try.

    Check out the Odyssey to the west album but Slice the Cake! It’s a concept album about a guy who was forced to go on a pilgrimage to The Holy Mountain and all the struggles along the way, and he’s also struggling with a relationship, and she leaves him mid way, and he has to go rest of the way by himself. All of the lyric on the album are poems the guy wrote along the way. Like I said its a masterpiece.

    Hey guys, glad you're finally checking out a favorite of mine. I don't think this is a good introduction, even though it's probably vocally, Dan's best performance. To really hear the 'band', check out the album version 'Of Mind-Nocturne' (this one has a different singer, but he's great too). If you do a reaction, do the 5:51 album version as the official video shortens the song and misses some of the funkiest, grooviest parts at the end of the song.

    • @darkphoenix2
      @darkphoenix2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Really, if people want them to do Nocturne, they should just check out the PORTALS version since it has Dan. I wish it had the ending instrumental part, but the PORTALS version is overall better.

    • @JoshBratton
      @JoshBratton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darkphoenix2 but the Portals version doesn't have Jay on drums which, to be honest, I'm biased on. I see your point with Dan though. Ashe was a good vocalist, but Dan is on another level.
