Not sure if they changed it, but you should set your dog to hauling. this will cause your dog to haul all the stuff to the stock pile while your character is researching.

Going great so far. Can`t you get the dog to haul too?
Won't the stuff outside go bad? So why put it outside if you can hold on to the bow and it won't be in the way 🤔.
