Concerning the solid perfumes. I do not necessarily use them as a perfume; however, they do allow for a base to apply a perfume when experiencing dry skin. Everyone talks about trying to extent the life of a perfume. This is my way of doing it. The ones I prefer are beeswax based or tallow based. I apply them on my pulse points. Others may disagree but this method works best for me.
As I said in a comment, your the best in the game, true enthusiast, I trust you more than anyone when it comes to fragrance, appreciate your honesty, loved this long video chatting about fragrance, good to see you do these, great work
I just got the new Louis Vuitton LV LOVERS fragrance today! I went last Wednesday, and bought a bottle of Attrape-Reves, and the nice lady there said she wasn't sure if they would get the new fragrance, but it was releasing today. I took an early lunch break today, and got there right when they opened. I saw the new fragrance right away, and was excited to try it. I sprayed it on myself and a test card, and as soon as the lady was done helping someone else, she assisted me. She was the one who helped me two weeks ago, when I bought Ombre Nomade. She hooked me up with three free samples that time, Attrape-Reves, Material Noire, and Rose des Vents. It was cool that she remembered me this time, and she hooked me up with a couple more free samples this time! I got Imagination and Afternoon Swim, to put my LV sample count at an even 10. The only repeat I have is Ombre Nomade, if you don't count the sample and full bottle of Attrape-Reves. I got the sample first, and then bought the full bottle. So far, I really like this new LV LOVERS fragrance! That's what the box says, on the sticker on top. I've been calling it LVERS this whole time, but I don't think that's accurate. I like how the bottle looks kinda shimmery, and the fragrance is refreshing and uplifting, with a nice light citrus and also some wood notes, like cedar and sandalwood, I think. I'm still a pretty new frag head, but I'm practically obsessed already! I've made a couple fragrance review videos so far, but I'm planning on making one for LV LOVERS and also Attrape-Reves. I already made a review video for Pacific Chill and Ombre Nomade. I think Louis Vuitton fragrances are a great value, especially if you can take advantage of their refill option. The Icon line, including this new one, is kinda steep for the initial 100 ml bottle, at $320, but you can get it refilled for just $220. So it's like an investment, and even the initial price isn't that bad, compared to houses like Creed and Parfums de Marly and Initio, for example. I'm just an average midwest middle class guy. I'm far from stylish, but like most people, I can appreciate a nice fragrance. So far, my experience going to the Louis Vuitton store has made me a big fan of their fragrances. I was nervous the first time, but they are so laid back there and let you test out the fragrances as much as you want. They even include a free sample, if you order a fragrance from them. Then, you can try the sample and return the bottle, if you don't like it. Things like that, just how helpful they are there, how nicely they wrap up your purchases, and how they are so generous with the free samples makes me happy to spend money there. Sorry for the saga length comment. I don't have many friends, especially none that are into fragrances like I am.
Most people aren’t into fragrances. It’s a little like stamp collecting.😆. BTW, there’s nothing wrong with stamp collecting. Good luck with your fragrance reviews. It’s a lot of work.
Agree with you, I don't think solid or oil fragrances will take over traditional spray fragrances and I also don't like them. Excellent long video, thank you Sebastian!!!
For the sub who was asking about the best places to purchase decants. I have had great success with micro parfums , scent split, fragrance lord and maxaroma no complaints so far.
Thank you for this video Sebastian! I havent started but im already excited! Lots to learn! I hope you will have 10 videos a week, i already watched all of your old and new videos and watching it again and again until your new one. Goodluck to you and thanks again!
I’d say the best tonka fragrance is Hermessence Vetiver Tonka. People stop talking about it for some reason (probably because many influencers think c’est passé, just because?) I remember many influencers were obsessed by how beautiful it is; not one bad thing about it. And it still is… especially considering how ubiquitous tonka being used now in all the “modern take of xx” fragrances. They all start to really smell the same. But Vetiver Tonka… my god, stunning!
I love that line, but that fragrance doesn’t last on me. In fact the entire collection is very light all EDT. Good thing they just introduced an EDP of their latest Oud and not in EDP.
Wow! This has been so fun to watch… chiming in on the very last question: I’ve replaced all my 10ml rollerballs with spray atomizers - and now, I pretty much won’t buy a rollerball. Just not my preference👍🤗🌼
Thank you for this. It was lovely listening to you talk about fragrances. I love to hear anything you have to say. I’d love to hear a rant about fragrances. I love fragrance but sometimes things make me angry. I’m sure you have a list of things you might want to share?
I just became addicted to Vanagloria - when I first smelled it in the last scent kit, I didn’t quite get it- I wasn’t really into the incense part I guess - but just this week, I had a little left and I’m obsessed now - I love the incense smoky part, then the smooth vanilla (not too sweet) - I’m trying a sample of babycat soon- hopefully I can remember the vanagloria enough for comparison - I can still smell it on the sprayer, so hopefully that’s good enough - I have to stop myself from opening the sprayer to just smell it bc it’s got me now ❤
The Dior Homme’s have me intrigued;as I’ve only recently started looking at them. The Tonka family and Tonka Bodykon esp is also right up my alley. Great video, thank you Sebastian🧡🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
Hi Sebastian! I love this series. Thank you for answering questions. I love the original Dior Homme. Although marketed to men I loved wearing it back in 2006. I was under the impression that Olivier Polge created Dior Homme original in 2005. Looking forward to more Q&A.
My lavande I have to overspray and even then it doesn’t project but the small scent bubble chokes me (the wearer). I’m going to attempt to wear it over molecule and lotions though because if I can get it to work I’ll be happy to keep it.
For the person asking about the sample sites. Scent club of course is great. However if your in the US I’d recommend Decantx , Scent spilt and perfume samples and decants honestly I’ve never had an issue. Look for discounts around holidays.
Such thorough and thoughtful answers. You have sold me on Armani Prive Musc Shamal. Love the thought that it is delicate, sweet, feminine and elegant. Love those qualities and I am going to try to track one down. Thank you for this wonderful Q&A video. 💕💕
Signature scent for Whitney, try Fleur narcitique extrait from ex nilho. Le labo Dallas exclusive as awesome (aldehyde 44). I like acne from FM. Chanel 1957 is great.
I got a bottle of Bond No 9 New Bond St. from TJ Maxx today! I hadn't been to this TJ Maxx before, and I had never seen a high end niche fragrance like that at a rack store! It cost $225, which I know isn't that amazing of a deal, but it's not bad. I like it so far. It mostly has a sweet chocolate scent, but there are some citrus and floral notes too. I think it's technically a feminine fragrance, but I like it.
I just got a couple Swiss Arabian concentrated scent oils last weekend from Amazon, and I really like them so far. I got Private Oud and Hayaa, and they only cost like $25 each. Private Oud has a nice sweet vanilla gourmand scent and Hayaa is more floral. They have like 12 ml each, and it seems like they will last me a while. I think Swiss Arabian also has standard perfumes too, but I haven't tried them yet.
I do have a question… I’m still confused about the Dior Homme Parfum - I’m getting a sample of this - it says “Parfum” - is this the good one with the iris and slight tobacco notes - I’m not interested in any of the others, but I’m curious to just smell the “good one” to see if I even care - maybe it will be too masculine for me anyway… but with orris (irris?) and tobacco, that speaks more my language
Amazing recommendations to Whitney! I love a lot of them you talked about. I think Whitney might enjoy Maison Violet fragrances you just mentioned in your last video 😊
I like perfume ( per-fume "by vapor"), literally, to spray on and smell it, be enveloped in a glorious cloud, leaving a pleasant trail. No dabbing or rolling for me.
Hi perfume guy I rececntly bought an MFK from Maxaroma but the batch code has no trail. Could this a fake or just that the batch never had been processed to the code sites? I know Maxaroma only sells real stuff.
Hi Sebastian - quick questions, I keep eyeballing that bottle of Giardini di Toscana Almafolia behind you to your left. I was looking for a nice tuberose for summer, what are you thoughts on that perfume?
Oh no...we are getting a US version of IFRA? This scares me. Brands like Rogue and Kerosene are among my favorites and they use a ton of stuff that is not IFRA compliant. This could really destroy them. I know John from Kerosene said he would discontinue his scents rather than reformulate them for any reason. Man, I hope this doesn't come to pass. Any links to resources about this?
Ok, I did some research and there is an new law that is expanding the FDA regulations for cosmetics (MoCRA - Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act) . The part of the law that would impact fragrance production essentially states that all allergens must be listed independently and can't be included in the umbrella term "fragrance" or "perfume" in the ingredients list. Producers must also register with the FDA and submit their formulas to a registry. If a fragrance is reformulated, the new formula must also be submitted. Thankfully, most of these restrictions are targeted toward major operations and there are exceptions for small businesses. I'm thinking that many of these smaller houses will be ok.
