Think consumers are very intelligent. Now that a lot of people are educated about fragrance notes and the manufacturers are now listening the fragrance notes a person can choose the correct fragrance. Example the man's version of Obsession is easier to wear in a non tropical warm environment because of the slight change in ingredients. When in a hot humid salty tropical area the women's Obsession perfume wears better for most women.
Love the lengthy videos, please don't shorten it. I jave no friends who are fragrance lovers, so these lengthy videos are like conversations with a like minded person.
Sebastian, just as an aside, I don't mind these longer videos at all. Actually, I grab a cup of my favorite Congolese dark roasted coffee and watch them with my notebook and pen handy, so I never miss writing down a great fragrance reviewed by you.
No problem at all with feminine fragrances, I just bought a vintage version of Poison EDT, it's NUCLEAR!!! One spray at arms length and it's pure magic, the secret is in the application. Catch your video last night, right now I'm looking for a vintage Cosmair version of Polo Cologne, I just love that stuff, fingers crossed for the new Cologne intense, I'm going to be a very happy man if it's smell close to the original. Fantastic long video. Thank you Sebastian!!!
As a woman if i ever ask a man what perfume he is wearing and it is a feminine leaning or more mature leaning perfume, I would totally think he is a self confident guy who doesn’t fall for marketing tricks. There is nothing more sexy than that 😁
Omg! That’s totally what happened with Tom Ford Black Orchid-the whole off-putting but then you love it thing! It teaches me to be patient and that our tastes change . . .
The length of this video didn't put me off at all, I was excited! Also super pumped that Aqua Celestia was briefly discussed, as I just bought it for spring/summer. It's so watery and refreshing.
I cant wear anything too floral. You aren't going to catch me wearing "white diamonds", but I hear what you are saying about something smelling good regardless. I love the way "wonderlust" smells but I still dont have it in me to wear it.
Thanks a lot for your answer regarding Monsieur. I think you are right, maybe my nose is so used to Monsieur. and I don't feel its intensity anymore. But sadly, I cannot replace it: it represents artistically the melancholic darkness and it was the only scent I loved at first scent. I also thought about its similarity with Music for a While (in terms of the cold feeling it gives me). jesus, Frederic Malle was made to empty our pockets :P
@57:20 Thanks a lot for answering my questions Sebastian! Wrote a long comment but editing it I got some error from YT and now can't see it anymore, so writing this shorter version now. Thanks again! Looking forward to your updated top fougere's video for sure.
Yes! This is what is happening to me with BR 540 Extrait! But instead of cat pee, it reminded me of bug spray, like Raid. That was my initial impression, but keep going back, and then when I sprayed it on my husband, wow! Much better on him. And I bet I’ll be using it too one day soon.
I've personally never considered "age" in perfumes. When I was 14 (early 90's), I bought myself Montana Parfum de peau, it was a bomb from the 80's, I liked it because my step mom wore it, I felt empowered and sexy even if it was not something that a teenage would wear at this time. If the sillage is modest, I can' t think of any issues wearing anything, and during confinement who cares about over spraying, ...perhaps your wallet....
I WAS A SIGNATURE FRAGRANCE LADY for DECADES. NOW , after enjoying so many divine scents. FLAMENCO , RAMON MONEGAL, might take me back to a signature fragrance girl. Not complicated... but allure me with your flesh and soul.
Regarding your question about initial smells, Floris' Vert Fougere did that to me. The first couple of times it just smelled like what I would imagine the smell of weed trying to be hidden by air freshener would smell like (only a guess). However, the dry-down is just wonderful and that pungent note is more subdued. Now I actually enjoy the entire cycle of the fragrance but it did take a few times wearing it for me to come around.
Love love love all the details and the time you take to prepare, as well as to share, the wealth of information you have on fragrance! Thank you, Sebastien 🤗
What about Egyptian musk/goddess white musk? That certainly lasts and is a musk. It looks like it is hard to find in a spray, and is often found in an oil, but still I think people who want a sharp, salty, long lasting musk, should try some aspect of Egyptian musk. I’m not sure whether or not it is animalic. It is very high, sharp and yet soft. Yes, it is feminine and white, no amber.
Thanks for answering my question! I asked about Kilian STH and Ursa. Just to update - I did get to try Ursa and the leather note turned out too animalic for me. For that reason, I also won’t be trying GG absolute! I did end up buying STH and I’m enjoying it quite a lot! Lasts around 4 hrs on my skin and 5-6 hrs on clothes.
I enjoy longer videos and I love the way you answer and detail the questions, so keep up the good work! If you by any chance read this, do you know of a way to tone down a perfume that it's too strong? Thank you!
I had the same mixed feelings with Lilac Love, There was something in it I couldn't stand that covered in my brand every other notes. I came back to it later after watching various reviews including yours and started to enjoy the sweetness and the lilac.
Thankyou Sabastian :) I truly appreciate that you took the time to answer my Question.I will purchase Porpora as the notes sound amazing and similar to portrait of a lady ,another one of your suggestions which i am looking forward to buying someday.Fantastic reviews 👌🏻
I find Pasha Parfum a bit too sweet, good quality but I hope it is a bit more spicy, a bit of a let down comparing to Envol and Decreration Parfum. Might want to try the EDT.
Thank you for responding to my question went and smelled le labo for the first time today! She never showed me ylang ylang... but when I get home I’ll def order samples of the others!
Just saw a review on Polo Cologne Intense a couple of minutes ago on Ben's channel (Scentaur). From what I gleaned, it seems that it may just be an even more neutered version of the current formulation. 😢 Very little patchouli and vetiver according to Ben, and he even mentioned that the grapefruit in the opening came off a bit like the one in Bleu de Chanel. Ouch. Very unfortunate if that's the case. I still can't wait to get your take on it Sebastian.
Epic video...'beast mode'.Great reviewer and indeed exceptional reviews from someone that clearly knows his subject. I'm from the UK, there are nuances in somethings such as season references, particularly fragrances suited to times of the year may differ here, but that said you are the only u-tuber I've hit subscribe to! Excellent content - always !
Please name some fragrances that smell similar to Ajmal amber wood, Le labo another 13, nasomatto baraonda and Calvin klein in2u. Those are my favorites.
Strange, for me psychedelic is very medicinal patchouli for the first one hour. Of course i get the chocolaty vibe later and then the earthy under tones.
Hello. I get what you mean, but I wouldn't love Monsieur. with the soapy quality. I think Gentleman (the original) which I tested is so different from Monsieur. and similar to Munegu by Nishane. Probably Monsieur. is closer to Patchouly Indonesiano Farmacia SS. Annunziata.
@@TKK765 Okay, i see. Haven‘t tried those ones. Will dig into them. Thanks. Yeah, Monsieur has a little bit character like motor oil for me. Patch can go into such different directions. Duro smells also that „dirty“ to me but more from a leathery side. Rien Intense in other hand reminds me a lot of moth balls. Very Very intense experience but like it too. Maybe you should look into that e/olibanum/frankincense direction to find new gems. Or if its more that dark and medicinal aspect try Encre Noir Extreme. Another Patch i like Patchouli Nosy. More on that spicy side. Or a spicy frankincense Bois d‘Encens.
@@Spiralnebel_GB I started my collection with a couple of Laliques including Encre Noir Extreme. Nosy Be from Perris MC smelled so gourmand on my skin, just like a vanilla pudding. I liked Duro, but luckily Aoud Musk from Montale is very similar with a way better performance. I'll try to reach somehow LUI from Mazzolari, that is considered an animalic patchouli. But anyhow I admire the depth of Monsieur. so much as I would only stop wearing it if indeed there is a reformulation (which I deeply hope is not). I wrote to Bruno about it :P
I have a big question, I have been watching all these reviews from different channels, I want to know with different smells and different seasons, what would be more appropriate for African summer and winter, because you have a winter season that is warm and you find most winter recommended smells becomes overwhelming and too much, and you find most summer smells wearing off quickly. and to make it bad in South Africa we have the North part and the south part and north is hot in summer and warm in winter, and south part which is your Cape Town and Easten Cape has wearther more or like one in Europe. please advise on the best smells and colognes from the summer heat and warm winter heat and cold traveling smell and colognes.
I would mostly use a fresh /clean smell D&G light blue/intense and K, and it smells good once you step out into the hot African sun and start seating, it smells great, but wear off quickly.
For very hot weather try: - Almost any scent from Acqua Di Parma's Blu Mediterraneo line. - Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue or any of its flankers - Prada L'Homme L'Eau - Banana Republic Vintage Green - Ferrari Bright Neroli - John Varvatos Artisan Pure - Versace Man Eau Fraiche - Mugler Come Together For weather that is still warm but less hot try: - Mancera Cedrat Boise or Vetiver Sensuel - Amouage Reflection or Jubilation Man - Prada Luna Rossa Carbon - Lacoste Match Point - Chanel Allure Homme Sport - Paco Rabanne Invictus Aqua - Bentley Silverlake - Montblanc Explorer For colder weather try: - Montale Intense Cafe or Honey Aoud - Tom Ford Tuscan Leather or Tobacco Vanille - Mancera Red Tobacco - Amouage Interlude - Parfums De Marly Pegasus - Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo - Mugler A*Men - Viktor and Rolf Spice Bomb Night Vision - Bvlgari Man In Black
Remember that once Brad Pitt was the spokesperson for Chanel No. 5! Everyone should just wear what they want to wear. I love lots of feminine fragrances but also some masculine fragrances. But mostly I wear unisex fragrances..
Hint, if you're not comfortable disclosing fully what you're wearing just disclose the brand. Many people who are not into fragrance don't know the exact fragrance they are wearing anyway.

Fragrance is for me, not others...AMEN! I don't wear frags to get compliments, I wear them to feel good and to smell it through the days.
