@@melissawiebe7822 I agree with you on how Alicia’s videos challenge our ideas on what is needed. I’ve been looking at all of my things differently now.
Thank you for this. I like the way you don't just do a "minimalist" video, you explain your philosophy and the reasoning behind it. Some of those who criticise don't see that it has taken time and an altering of mindset to get to this point - it is not an overnight thing. I have been a minimalist for years but only now am I getting to a point where I am really beginning to critique my purchasing habits. This is because a couple of years ago husband and I decided to cut down on one use plastic as much as possible, this led to an overall reduction in what I now refer to as "landfill" waste. Because I want to put as little as possible into landfill (or sadly, incineration, which seems to be the way the UK is going) I am getting much more mindful about what we buy. But it has taken time. The thing is to rethink one's way of living and the habits we all take for granted. It looks different for everyone. I told you about a month ago that I was going to go in for floor sleeping! I am a bit ancient for floor sleeping but decided to go for it anyway! I really hope I can carry on doing it for as long as possible because I so enjoy the simplicity of it all. Got rid of the bed frame and repurposed my bedside table as a printer table. This in turn has given my husband back the use of his desk so win-win really. I have a cute little basket to put in my night time necessities and then realised that could go in the wardrobe during the day so the space looks lovely and open. Have to say I still look like a beached whale when getting up and down but I tell myself I am getting exercise! Lots more I could say but this comment is long enough already.
So glad you are finding resonance here and making positive changes in your life. It’s always a process! lol and beached whale for the win- we were designed to use our bodies!!
When my first son was born, we were vegan minimalists and loved it. He remembers so much of his babyhood/toddlerhood. As time went on and I had more children, things changed so much. Especially bc my next two children were girls. Family LOVE sending gifts to girls for some reason, clothes, purses, dolls etc. My husband is a chef. So we are great with knowing what’s needed in the kitchen and he often takes tools I no longer use to his restaurant. But you are inspiring me to really go through my life again :) It has gotten crazy and I am always so overwhelmed and remember how peaceful life was when I was ruthless about protecting my space. I’m a human design projector and so are my children and so a peaceful space TRULY makes a difference for our energy levels
Hi Alicia, you speak so deeply to me. I'm also an introvert and often want some peace and quiet. So many people don't understand that and show me that, so I often think there's something wrong with me. Thank you for talking about this today and making me feel right as I am. 😍 And everything you say about waste... I agree with you on everything. Thanks a lot.
Its so peaceful. The less I have the better I feel. People don't usually understand, but its how I am. And your channel inspires me to want to have even less.
I admire your real clarity. I live in a small cottage - there are three of us - and the kitchen has no upper cabinets, no dishwasher, no closets at all. We have never had a microwave and gave away the tv 10 years ago when my kids flew out. While not a complete minimalist I’ve have pared things down A LOT. What I’ve noticed over the years is that less stuff leads to calm mental space, peace and an anxiety-free life. And relief! Relief to be free of taking care of more than I need. Thanks for the tour and chat.🐇
I love your extreme minimalist life. LOVE AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR YOURSELF, THE ANIMALS, THE PLANET AND THE OTHER 8 BILLION OF US SHARING IT. I share all the values you do, yes I'm an ethical vegan who does a WFPB-SOS free diet + 99.99% vegan lifestyle. I'm sure there is an item or two from my past that is not vegan in my home but I've made my peace with that. I love how you live a very very simple life throughout all areas of your life. It is amazing. I wish I could get to your level but I'm not sure on how to go about it whilst living with a husband who is somewhat minimal and shares the same values as me. YOUR STYLE OF LIVING IS my dream.
Glad you are finding resonance here my friend 🙏🏻 Keep going on your journey. Yes it’s definitely trickier with having partnership, but love is sacred and takes priority. That he shares the same values as you is wonderful 🩵
You are so stunning inside and out, I’ve been inspired by you I’ve decluttered all my skin care products and am only using a coconut soap bar on my face and body and I’ve never seen my skin look so smooth! And am also using natural shampoo and conditioner soap bars! .
Yess we love your “little unexpected rants at the end of a very simple video”. I was wondering how the heck your kitchen stuff vid would be so long. I love it all. Everything resonated with me. Thank you!! Also I believe that when you begin to declutter THINGS from your life that no longer serve you… it snowballs to begin to declutter PEOPLE who no longer serve you, THOUGHTS that no longer serve you, FOODS that no longer serve you…. Etc etc etc. I’m so grateful to have been exposed to this minimalist mindset…
Your pared (spelling?) down kitchen really has helped me re-evaluate all my items as I have an upcoming move. Thank you! I really find that when you have less, decluttering becomes easy because you're forced to actually see everything!
you could use a regular drinking cup or the mug to measure out the rice too. If I make rice, since I lost my rice cup, ive been using my mugs and it works well :) just an idea
Hi, if you ever run out of ideas can you please do some recipes? Doesn't matter how easy, I'd still like to watch the whole thing like chopping the veggies and the rest of the steps please and thank you.
It is oddly reassuring that I have just about the same kitchen set up that you do. Lol, my grown son is mildly curious and slightly disapproving. 🙂 Keep up the good work.
Thank ypu! your last kitchen video massively inspired me to take some kitchenware out. feels a lot better. I know you say dont copy, but so far it helped me a lot to "copy" you a little. Still got more to get rid of in the long run. I feel very inspired to throw out my plates. I hate plates. but my cutting boards are sadly both plastic and thats not so nice to eat off :( but replacing them also feels wasteful. I also want to get rid if my knives. I only really use two all the time, but somehpow the voice of my dad exclaims "how can you throw out your knives!!!!! you need them!!!" hm, maybe I dont, i dont use 4 out of 6 anyway. your videos are very inspiring. would love to see more such videos focused on the material/stuff. Im slowly finding my way back to minimalism and this really inspires me, seeing your way of life, to take the plunge and have the courage to discard what i always wanted to toss
You could use them both up. Eventually, the plastic cutting board gets stained and gross. And the same for the knives, keep using them until they break/unusable and then buy one or two singles at a time. :)
@@extrememinimalistparent Thats true! Although I think knives can be sharpen and kept in good shape for a long time? True also about the cutting boards, although they appear to then still last me a very long time :") Had them for two and a half years already and they still look pretty new
@@extrememinimalistparent hahahaha Idk. I only cut fruit, veggies and occasionaly meat on them and then give them a good scrub lol. Still look almost brand new, I guess veggies dont stain them much and I am grossed out enough by stains that I rinse them right after use. But I really dont know what I am doing "right" lol
Hi Alicia! Something about measuring cups…..a regular size mug is approximately the same volume as a cup. Meaning for example I just use 1 mug rice and 2 mugs water. I do bake A LOT, and I only have 1 measuring cup (it’s a pirex type little jug) with different measurements in it…..and that’s it. For measuring spoons, I never felt the need to have them….since a tablespoon is a tablespoon and a teaspoon is a teaspoon. I think we have been brainwashed to think that in order to cook or bake we need all these gadgets when in reality we don’t. I’ve been cooking and baking a lot for years and I think my food is pretty tasty haha 😅! Big hugs from Ireland!
Yup that totally works! I don’t have mugs anymore so the measuring cups still come in handy. I did used to function without them though so maybe I’ll let go in the future ;)
@@Exploravore well, you can use the jars. Of course you can't fill them to the top with rice because it's too much. However, just measure 1 cup of rice, put it in the jar and you'll see approximately how much rice you'll need to put in the jar for 1 cup.
I scoured yt for minimalism channels, and i subscribed to all of them. And i watched/listened to each channel. Any channel that doesn't apply to me, i unsubscribed - like women with kids (i'm a widow); channels that promote Amazon products (don't like Am); any channel with voiceovers that talks in a zen-like manner while the host looks out into the sunset (not spontaneous, too corny, trying hard to be artsy), endless cleaning/cooking/eating out in some cafés that every episode - that's their content. 😂 ... so i minimised my subs. And i'm still here...always looking forward to your episodes. 🎉
@dinnapadilla Can you recommend some minimalism channels that you like? I discovered this one recently and it was the one I liked the most, there weren't many that I liked.
@dinnapadilla I appreciate your graciousness, but no worries- this is meant to be a space to help people. There are lots of other channels out there that will have different but also helpful things to say in addition to what I offer, so if you can mention another channel that might truly help someone, I support this ❤️
I’ve been a Minimalist for 14 years (not extreme yet). Love all your videos so much. I can get trapped into unnecessary consumerism at times still. You keep me making better choices.
This is very interesting, Alicia, especially how you find unique ways to use items for several purposes. I have a long history with food obsession & a complicated relationship with food. I've spent decades looking at food consumption from so many angles: vegan vs. carnivore, "foodies" vs. ambivalence around food, different ethnic foods, the history of food, abundance vs. food poverty,...etc, etc, etc. TRYING to be a "normal" eater.🤷 As a Canadian, I find Americans have extremely disfunctional relationships with food and its a topic that really gets people emotional, understandably. I would love to see a video from you on your relationship with food and has minimalism influenced your relationship with food. For example, one confusing message I see is around the topic of willpower and a healthy diet. What exactly is willpower? Isn't consistency & success with your diet and health dependant on choosing what to have in your environment, not just white knuckling it through the 200 items in your pantry? Do you think intentionally having fewer choices at hand and automating behaviour around food (having a few simple recipes on repeat) is the answer? Interesting that 3rd world countries don't have eating disorders. Is it because food is JUST for survival? Is it also because of very limited options?🇨🇦♥️
This is a deep dive one- I’ll consider a vid. For the most part, I think diets/willpower/restriction is bullshit. We are brainwashed to think we need to do this but what other animal in nature has to restrict so much? People in third world countries don’t have eating disorders because 1) food is precious and not to be wasted and 2) they eat simple foods humans were designed to eat: rice, corn, potatoes, wheat, legumes, fruit and vegetables. I eat this way because it makes me feel great, the simplicity is easy and enjoyable- not restrictive, it feels natural, and its best for the animals and the planet. 💚
As an experiment I moved my one chair to a corner. I sit on a yoga mat now. Don’t miss the chair at all so may get rid of it except I do have people over.
Love this video! I love having all my meals in bowls. I do a flat bottom bowl (if that makes sense) and it works for all my meals. I have contemplated getting rid of my plates, but my husband won’t let me (just yet lol). I love your videos. It helps keep in perspective for me my goals. I know my lifestyle won’t allow me your level of minimalism, but your tips help guide me. Thanks for all your VLogs :)
Impressive kitchen reveal. ❤ After watching your first kitchen “Everything I own” video, I was inspired to let go of about a 3rd of what I have. Since then it seems that every week I find something else to give away. I do entertain about once every 6 weeks with my Sacred Circle group, so I need a few extra things for our potlucks. Otherwise I dislike giving dinner parties. I have given about 4 small ones in my lifetime… too stressful. I’m an introvert too. I prefer intimate conversations with trusted friends. Yesterday I came across a video short about how much women shop on average… it came to approximately 8 years of our life. 😳 Absolutely shocking and eye opening!! It’s got me rethinking everything. Going forward I don’t want my life to be about collecting things. Ugh! 😅
It looks like your pots have a built in colander so you can drain the water right out. I wonder if you’d even need to keep the large colander. I need to get some pots that do that!
So great! I love that you got rid of your dishes. I’m trying to talk my family into bowls and chop sticks. No takers yet. 😅 You probably get a lot of “Itd be great if you could make a video…” comments, but it’d be seriously great if you could make a video with a maximalist family in mind. Maybe you could say what you’ve noticed and what you’d do if you had a family of four. I feel like I’m getting blind to my clutter and allowing more kid clutter to creep in-nothing they need or even really want but it comes anyway! Thank you for considering. Another great video!
Glad you are enjoying 🙏🏻 So as a woman who has never had children and doesn’t want to ever have children, I can’t really give a fair answer on what’s needed for kids, but I can offer the reflection that we used to raise humans with a hell of a lot less. And, the wealthiest nations in the world have the highest rates of mental illness. More stuff does not equate to more happiness. And lastly there are many many bright young people that come from developing nations to excel in western universities in fields like medicine, engineering and technology. They were raised with far less bs toys and devices than western kids but this did not impede their development…
@@Exploravore Thank you for the reply! It’s just interesting to get an outside perspective. Sometimes we become closed units and need a new view. Thanks again!
I frequently give my kids and wife food on plates and use the cutting board for my own food to save washing a plate. So I don't think using the cutting board is weird at all. :D. I did get rid of a lot of extra dishes years ago and in some cases substituted dishes that take up less space. I have stainless steel cups that nest nicely and I wish everyone in the family liked using them so we could get rid of half of our glasses. They take up way less space, don't ever break and they're easy to clean and lighter than you would think.
This is kitchen GOALS Alicia! So inspiring, especially as someone who travels all the time and has limited space for kitchenware. I am currently considering giving up my bread maker, which is very bulky but home made bread is so much better for you than shop bought stuff...
We are a family of four and i make alot of my kids snacks for school so i do use alot of dishes pretty regularly, but i have to say, i would really like to get rid of the blender and kitchen aid mixer. I have been decluttering/minimizing for several years now and my personal belongings are down pretty far, but the kitchen really is my struggle area. Maybe i will just find a place for the blender in the back of the pantry. We do use it for smoothies occationally, like for birthday celebrations, but not daily or weekly. And i think the stand mixer is going to go.
What is your opinion on natural fabrics? Most athleisure is made from synthetic materials like polyester or nylon, which can rub against our skin, releasing microplastics that may disrupt hormonal balance due to their potential to act as endocrine disruptors. I’m currently curating the very few pieces I have in my wardrobe to consist solely of wool, hemp, silk, cotton, and linen, whether second-hand or new. I recently watched a video of a woman who tried burying her natural fabric top and returned to it after 30 days, finding hardly any remnants left. This emphasises the eco-friendly nature of these materials and their reduced impact on the environment.
I think natural fibers are great. I will likely transition to clothing from these materials as time goes on, I just don’t want to waste what I currently have. 🤍
I have a sister that argues that dishwashers use less water also and that’s fine. I hand wash. I don’t care for dishwashers nor own one. It’s the loading unloading and inevitably needing something that’s dirty in the dishwasher. This video has me feeling like I need to declutter my recently decluttered kitchen 😂
Your sister is right. If you’re living alone maybe you don’t need a dishwasher, but in my house (family of 5) it saves so much time and speeds up the process a ton. Also it saves a ton of water.
I’m still curious how you are vacuuming the carpets! lol I don’t know if you’ve mentioned that. Maybe you borrow a Vacum for cleaning? I use my rumba everyday and can’t believe what comes off the carpets! I do have a cat though
Small Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam sandwich at the end of the day (whole grain bread) excellent choice....Plus the peanuts contain tryptophan along with the carbs really help with sleep! :) Re appliances, so unnecessary. I let go of my oven, blender etc… years ago. Never have missed anything. I can make everything on the stove top. V here 🌱
Here I am family of four but owning very few kitchen utensils but going to declutter some more we don’t need extra plates and cups 😊Thanks for inspiring 🙏
Wow! A much needed video as I am going through Uncluttered Program with Joshua Becker and we are in the middle of Kitchen Decluttering week. Thank you.. Keyur
I think that as a vegan you don't really need to worry about contamination of your utensils, dishes and pots. Besides, you need to consume a peck of dirt before you die (and a peck of dirt is actually 2 gallons!) 😅Also, DH and I have a dishwasher that's great for storing pots and pans but never gets used to wash anything. Been hand washing dishes for decades. With one or two people using a dishwasher wouldn't really work out. Good stuff in your post as usual. Love the lean and mean look of extreme minimalism. Rock on!
Thank you my friend and yes a perk of vegan cooking is washing/prepping is breeze. Sometimes I just give a quick rinse with water and no soap- no worries ;)
I so relate to the introvert having an extroverted job! I teach first grade so although very gratifying it saps all my energy. My weekends are spent enjoying my alone time so I rarely make plans! 😊 thank you again for great ideas and being so relatable! P.s. I believe your old swim coach was a Grand Marshall in Santa Clara Parade of Champions this year! ❤ from Santa Clara!
What oz size is your eating bowl? I’ve been looking for a decent quality wooden bowl to do the same ( eating with only 1 bowl) and I’m not sure if a 30oz would be too big? I’m a large meal girl as well being plant based 💚
I'm with you. Handwashing dishes does NOT use more water (if you do it correctly). I think those claims are BS, just made up by the dishwashing soap companies to try and sell you tons of soap. Even if it did use more, it might be like a gallon or two. Not sure what water prices are where you live, but my town charges very little PER gallon (they get their $ via the flat service fee). It's literally 1.15 cents per gallon.
Great topic for this week! Leaning more extreme, I do love to cook and have a family member or friend over now and then. So, I do have two sets of dishes that serve two. One is a china set with tea cups. This is why as a minimalist Gen Xr that has lived this lifestyle decades, ir it important for people to not pay attenrion to this idea of only possession or restricted possessions. i eat 95% of my meals at home and entertain so what I have is going to look different than someone who only heats up cup of noodles and has a banaana and otherwise, eats all of their meals out
Agree with you on the dishwasher topic! I don't have a dishwasher (house built in the 1920s) and wash my dishes by hand for a family of 4. My mom's dishwasher runs for over an hour and she goes through so many dishes!!. And on my worst day, where dishes have piled up for 2 days, I can get them all washed, dried and put away in 15 minutes (with my kids drying!) because I have minimized to such a great extent. Further - conserving water is a much bigger issue than how one washes their dishes anyway. As far as I can tell, water parks, golf courses, and car washes are still going strong, so I guess it's not that big of a deal, eh? Unless the dishwasher appliance companies are somehow in on all this, and it's really more about getting us to buy their fancy and expensive appliances.......hmm.... food for thought!!! (Sorry for the rant... this topic always gets to me!)🙃🙃
Love love you - Even the homeless gather so much man made objects around them - I call it idol worshipping - Only if there was a way to get people not to purchase in the first place - Hopefully people like you showing it can be done is that way - Keep up the good work
Argentinians won't think it's quirky. They serve food on cutting boards at some restaurants even. When we were there we had such a minimal kitchen that just a cutting board felt like a huge increase in kitchen items because I could also use it as a platter or plate in addition to the cutting. ❤
I really don’t like to entertain- not my jam. My family is scattered all over the country, and with my friends here I’ll meet them out at a restaurant or the movies or for a hike ;)
Thanks Alicia for this rerun of your kitchen things...and the other reminders...what was the title of the movie you recently watched?I couldn't hear it clearly. Thank you again. I would like to hear if you are taking care of your skin the same,or updated your routine...deatra
The movie is “Interstellar”. I highly recommend. Skincare is pretty much the same though I did have to get some lotion (a more natural one) for my hands bc my job as a bartender which requires me to have my hands in bad chemical soaps all day was drying out my hands/forearms too much.
I am enjoying your vids. Thank you. You are probably too young to remember the level of pollution in the US in the 60’s and 70’s. The air near plants made your eyes water and rivers were so toxic they literally caught fire. You could not eat the fish from or swim in the lake, river, or bayou in your back yard. We have come so very far in cleaning up. The stuff coming out plant stacks now is simply water vapor and we can eat the fish from the lake (and swim in it too). Are things perfect? No. But we are far better now. As an engineer, who has lived through the cleanup, I hope more people will come to appreciate the progress we have made in cleaning up our environment.
Hey lady! Im turning 40 on the 26th! How has everything been for you after your 40th? I love your video. I truly wish I could be so minimal with my belongings, but with 2 littles,a teenager, and a maximalist hubs its real hard too. But, im working on it.. can you share where you got your wood bowls and pans? Thanks dear cant want to here from you.
ALL movies & "entertainment" are for predictive programming purposes. It is highly disturbing how deluded so many people are. It's why we are in this mess.
What if you have your parents over for dinner? Do they bring their own spoon and fork and a chair to sit on? No judgement, just curious. Not everyone is able or willing to sit on the floor
I don’t entertain. My family lives far away, and with my friends here we either meet out in the world for a hike or the movies or dinner or if I go to their house I bring snacks ;)
Your videos never fail to encourage me to get rid of the items around me that I don't need! Also, this video couldn't have come at a better time for me! My friends and I have been talking a lot about the issues you discuss in the latter half of the video. Even if we didnt have the climate issues I would still want to declutter and minimize my items. It's still a stressful topic to think of sometimes but your content gives me hope. 😊
Take it one step at a time. The closer you come to living in alignment with how you want to be, the more momentum you will gain, as well as inner peace and fulfillment 💚✨
@Exploravore do you have any tips for letting go of stuff when you're in a scarcity mindset? I'm overwhelmed and don't enjoy living in my space anymore because of all the upkeep and stuff I own but am afraid to let go. Everything is expensive right now and I don't always have money to spend after bills. I've impulsively gotten rid of stuff and regretted it before.
@katybileto4382 take your time with it. The deeper thing to look at is the scarcity mindset, which is fear. Transforming this is more important than the stuff itself
@@Exploravoreyou can always use the hotspot on your phone for use on the computer! When I discovered this it changed our lives 😂 We use a computer for work and homeschool so not having a wifi bill and router is REALLY nice!
I 100% do not want/am not going to have children, so hard to give a fair answer on that. With my future husband he may not be as minimal as me and that’s fine, but would definitely need to be pretty minimal/not materialistic or the values would be too different. What I have suits the needs of two, just need one more bowl haha
@NadiaAhmed-n8g I’m not sure this is an acceptable question to ask. It’s very personal and not convinced a man or a 20 year old woman would be asked that question.
@@Sweetie8387Probably an appropriate way to ask this nowadays would be to ask about the future possibility of sharing her space with others. But the question was answered as asked and no inappropriateness was mentioned. I struggle frequently at age 66 with appropriate phrasing now and my 30 year old son is happy to correct me. 😉 I am happy to learn, I don’t want to insult anyone unintentionally.
Have yo seen the film called “Don’t Look Up”? It’s a highly dramatized satirical version of real life current events from the impacts of climate change.
Bingo! If you’re not into entertaining people fairly often, why have a house full of furniture, rooms full of stuff as if several families are going to suddenly stop by (once a month or more often?) Interstellar is fantastic, but I disagree humans were meant to eventually move from Earth. Only if people keep acting like there’s nothing we can do now, it’s all gone Pete Tong as the Brits would say, might as well live it up, crank the thermostat up to 80-F in January, etc.
I think people can go too far with minimalism! It can become something that people get fixed on and it doesn't benefit the joy in their life! Not saying that is the case here but saying that all things should be done moderately not excessively

You are so stunning inside and out, I’ve been inspired by you I’ve decluttered all my skin care products and am only using a coconut soap bar on my face and body and I’ve never seen my skin look so smooth! And am also using natural shampoo and conditioner soap bars! .
Haha my comment has nothing to do with kitchen appliances but I’m just excited I found your channel!
That is wonderful good on you! And thank you- happy to have you here new friend 🙏🏻🌸 Keep going on your journey 💚🌟
I declutterred my kitchen and I thought I did so well, turns out I kept so many things I didn’t need. Time to declutter again! 😅
Great.rant lol.
Yes you are spot on- it’s a full application to every facet of life 💙
Peanut butter and jelly with black coffee is a great treat. 🙋🏻♀️
Your pared (spelling?) down kitchen really has helped me re-evaluate all my items as I have an upcoming move. Thank you! I really find that when you have less, decluttering becomes easy because you're forced to actually see everything!
Yes 💯💯 Good luck on your move! 🩷✨

Alicia, another great video. I love your pared down kitchen kit. Very simple and functional.
Thank you Mark 🙏🏻✨
It is oddly reassuring that I have just about the same kitchen set up that you do. Lol, my grown son is mildly curious and slightly disapproving. 🙂 Keep up the good work.
Well now, I had to pause the video and make myself a peanut butter sandwich! Delicious!! I ordered my first pair of Blundstone boots yesterday!
Yay enjoy! 💚💚
I really like my Blundstone’s. They are all I wore for 16 days in Ireland early summer this year.
My favourite type of video from you ♥️🇦🇺🎉
😘😘
Thank ypu! your last kitchen video massively inspired me to take some kitchenware out. feels a lot better.
So glad you are taking the steps to create a life that feels more in alignment for you 🦋💙
You could use them both up. Eventually, the plastic cutting board gets stained and gross. And the same for the knives, keep using them until they break/unusable and then buy one or two singles at a time. :)
@@extrememinimalistparent Thats true! Although I think knives can be sharpen and kept in good shape for a long time? True also about the cutting boards, although they appear to then still last me a very long time :") Had them for two and a half years already and they still look pretty new
@idunablack2592 how? Mine always looked like choas after 6 months ha.
Yeah I’ve seen this one baking show where she uses cups and spoons for measuring her ingredients instead of measuring cups and spoons.
Glad to have you hear friend and glad you are curating consumption that is valuable to you ✨
Right?! I appreciate someone talking like humans talk to each other and not speaking to manipulate an algorithm.
@dinnapadilla Can you recommend some minimalism channels that you like? I discovered this one recently and it was the one I liked the most, there weren't many that I liked.
@@bamdan980bb oh i dont want to promote the others on Alicia's channel.
@dinnapadilla I appreciate your graciousness, but no worries- this is meant to be a space to help people. There are lots of other channels out there that will have different but also helpful things to say in addition to what I offer, so if you can mention another channel that might truly help someone, I support this ❤️
Can you show your rice and potato dish!? I’d be curious about that since you eat that frequently!
I’ve been a Minimalist for 14 years (not extreme yet). Love all your videos so much. I can get trapped into unnecessary consumerism at times still. You keep me making better choices.
No one is perfect and we are all here to help each other 🤍🦋
This is very interesting, Alicia, especially how you find unique ways to use items for several purposes. TRYING to be a "normal" eater.🤷
As a Canadian, I find Americans have extremely disfunctional relationships with food and its a topic that really gets people emotional, understandably.
I like how you sound like a normal person and you don’t use a soft slow “minimalist” voice
Hahaha a few people have said that. Years of working in show business, restaurants and coaching kids has made me very loud 😅
I think using the cutting board as a plate or serving tray is a great idea! Why not?... if it works, it works!
Your hand gestures are amazingly beautiful! A true dancer
As an experiment I moved my one chair to a corner. I sit on a yoga mat now. Don’t miss the chair at all so may get rid of it except I do have people over.
Nice!
Thanks for all your VLogs :)
yay Ferngully, haven't thought about that movie in forever 🌱
Ugh! 😅
Eek that’s a horribly disturbing figure 🫣 Yes SO many more beneficial things we could do with our time than mindless consumption
It looks like your pots have a built in colander so you can drain the water right out. I wonder if you’d even need to keep the large colander. I need to get some pots that do that!
Yes they do and work great! Still need the big one for pasta bc that gets heavy and for fruit and veg ;)

Super popular in Indian kitchens! The metal cups
Thank you! You motivate me every video 🪷
This is kitchen GOALS Alicia! So inspiring, especially as someone who travels all the time and has limited space for kitchenware. I am currently considering giving up my bread maker, which is very bulky but home made bread is so much better for you than shop bought stuff...
Ah yeah making your own is always best. I’ve said for years that I want to get into it but never did lol

And you don't eat out often, correct ?
@jos8916 usually once per week as a treat on my weekend ;)
I like having less items if I don’t need them! Clears my head hahah 😄
You can use less water handwashing. Note the use of the word can. It is all in the method.
She recently mentioned in her q&a that she got a vacuum.
Yes I got a vacuum ;)

What oz size is your eating bowl? I’ve been looking for a decent quality wooden bowl to do the same ( eating with only 1 bowl) and I’m not sure if a 30oz would be too big? I’m a large meal girl as well being plant based 💚
Hmm I’m not sure but looking at it I think it’s even bigger than 30 ounces lol. 😄
Yup soooo many false narratives out there designed to rope you into things you don’t need 🙃🙃🙃
Another great video 👍
Danke 🙏🏻
Great topic for this week! Leaning more extreme, I do love to cook and have a family member or friend over now and then. So, I do have two sets of dishes that serve two. One is a china set with tea cups. This is why as a minimalist Gen Xr that has lived this lifestyle decades, ir it important for people to not pay attenrion to this idea of only possession or restricted possessions. i eat 95% of my meals at home and entertain so what I have is going to look different than someone who only heats up cup of noodles and has a banaana and otherwise, eats all of their meals out
Yes it will look different for everyone 💚🌸
(Sorry for the rant... this topic always gets to me!)🙃🙃
Yup the subtle marketing is always in the background… And spot on with all of those other unnecessary big water users :/
i love using my cutting board as a plate 😊
Love love you - Even the homeless gather so much man made objects around them - I call it idol worshipping - Only if there was a way to get people not to purchase in the first place - Hopefully people like you showing it can be done is that way - Keep up the good work
Thank you 🙏🏻✨🦋
Argentinians won't think it's quirky. They serve food on cutting boards at some restaurants even. When we were there we had such a minimal kitchen that just a cutting board felt like a huge increase in kitchen items because I could also use it as a platter or plate in addition to the cutting. ❤
They arent actual cutting boards. It's a platter for serving the food...

Also, as a lifelong environmentalist, I have always naturally been minimalist.

@Exploravore do you have any tips for letting go of stuff when you're in a scarcity mindset?
