    I'm a huge cook/baker and have been a minimalist for ten years and seriously the biggest pain for me when I move is moving my kirchen stuff. I've been pairing down and this video is so cool and so timely. Thank you. We truly do not need as much as we think.

      Hats off to you for being a great cook and baker! I’ve told myself for the past 5 winters that I’m going to learn to make soup and I still never have 😅😅 But yes even for advanced cooking I think you can still get by with a lot less.. Happy decluttering!!

    Really enjoy watching your video! :) I love to declutter and ask myself again and again what I really need. It frees up so much space! I've travelled extensively after selling almost all my belongings before covid. now that I'm back living in an apartment (which is very small!) I definitely accumulated more things, but I still make it a priority not to own too much, it just became a habit and how I chose to live. Thank you for sharing!

    I love this video. I love that you are sharing eating without stimulus. And giving thanks to the food and gratitude for the earth. You keep on teaching and sharing. Thank you so much. I would like to see you make rice in your pan. I’ve been thinking to get a rice cooker but I only cook for me so what you said about making rice in your pan sounded great. I have trouble with sticking rice on bottom of pan. I eat brown short grain rice. Thank you again.❤

    Alicia, I think this is one of your best videos so far. Two things that came to mind about your kitchen equipment is that it is both mobile and sustainable. You can fit all that easily in your little vw bug including your small wardrobe and a few personal items you have and then move to wherever you need to move. Also occurs to me that every one of those items could be used in an off-grid situation where there is no electricity. That couldn't be said if you had a bunch of portable appliances that required electricity.
    Also I love the part about the monks and their single bowl. My Buddhist mentor also practices this. One of the things I adopted pretty early on was the practice of washing all my dishes after every meal. I think people have a lot of utensils because they don't wash and dry their utensils after every meal and so they need more utensils to get through the day. Since I share an apartment with my oldest son it's hard to get down to your level although I would like to because he has a lot of glasses and other things that take up space in the cupboard but are never used.
    But I am continuing to work on it.
    Also, if you eat oatmeal or soup you can still use your wooden bowl thus eliminating the need for the plates and small bowls.
    And if you really wanted to get extreme you could drink water out of your bowl and drink hot tea periodically out of it as well thus eliminating the need for your two cups.

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes you nailed it- it all fits in my bug easily, and I’ve totally kept living off grid in mind as I curated my kitchen and said no to a lot of things. I likely will just go to the one wooden bowl and use my wooden cutting board as a platter if I ever need it. Keep at your process Mark you are doing great 🌟🌟

      I just thought of an invention that might be cool. Combine a fork and a spoon together so that the fork is on one end of the utensil and the spoon is on the other end. That way instead of having four utensils which are two spoons and two forks you can have two utensils each with a spoon and a fork on either end.

    As ever, Alicia, a video that gets me to think about MY excess stuff. I did a big kitchen declutter a couple of years ago and would go further were it not for my significant other who needs multiple mugs, glasses and cutlery etc. But as we make our own bread, bake and make jam, chutney etc from our allotment produce, we do need most of our kitchen equipment. But there are some unused items that can go.

    Another idea for water purification is using a big charcoal stick in your water pitcher. I got mine on Amazon. It can be composted when you're done with it, and when your water starts tasting "not pure," you can boil the stick and use it longer. I think I've had my current one 3-4 months 😊

    I completely agree about the kitchen and most people have so many knives that they don't use and a chef's knife and a paring knife is about all that is really needed. Don't get me started on people and all of their towels also. Having a dozen bath towels when no more than 2 are used. There is so much silly excess people are enculturated into having as norms in their residence. The unneeded must haves in excess is like a viral disease. You should do a video on it and make fun of how silly and unaware people are of gathering kitchen and bathroom nonsense. You don't have to be so serious in your video's. Let yourself be humorous and funny and show how caught up people are in their stuff in a funny way. Blessings

    I don't have a fork, I don't need a fork....I eat everything with a spoon....also I have only one small sharp cutting knife, dont need a big one.....and I don't need a flat plate I have only one large deep plate, I can eat Cereo, Pasta, Soup, Salad, Potatoes, etc. everything from the one deep plate.....so all together I have one deep plate, one knife, one spoon, one wooden spoon for cooking, one ladle, one drinking cup, one big port, one pan, one bowl, one bottle, one strainer, one scissors

    I love your simple kitchen items. ❤
    Since I was a little girl, all I really ever want to drink is water. Never coffee. Rarely tea. Rarely soda (maybe 1 or 2 a year at a restaurant). I have one mug for the occasional hot apple cider, or mulled grape juice in the colder months.

    Have you watched Robin Greenfield’s TH-cam? His videos are always inspiring, especially when he uses barter to live in off grid shacks and sets up vegetable gardens for people as payment. Then he moves on and has another experience. He’s an environmental activist and extreme minimalist.

      Sometimes we snack out of boredom, but if you are genuinely hungry then nourish your body! Just choose healthy snacks like fruit, or veggies and hummus or nuts or seed crackers :)

    That strainer and other two equipments looks like gigantic in all way how do you store your all gigantic kitchen stuff it seems very heavy nonstick is even more heavy but yes you have too much kitchen appliances getting a small blender it will makes things more easier and smoother one for everything what did you do with 30 knives

  • @ClumsyCat-n7s
    @ClumsyCat-n7s 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not bad but you need at least 5 meal prep small glass containers and at least 2-4 glasses for water and juices. Unless you’re only a tea coffee drinker. For me I’m getting tired of drinking from 3 different water bottles. I wanna keep down to 2 water bottles. 1 for me. 1 for my son that has a straw. But I wanna drink from glasses. More fancy. A blender is so good and an electric can opener. I did donate my toaster. Basically fill your dishwasher 1 times and that’s it. No more goods. ❤

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Why do you say that I need these things? I don’t meal prep, I just prepare the meal I am about to eat only. I don’t drink juice or any other beverages besides water, so my two glass jars are enough. I don’t make smoothies so I have no need for a blender, and my manual can opener works fine. I haven’t used a dish washer in 10 years. If you like those things that is fine, but just because you do, doesn’t mean everyone else needs them ;)

    I don't like to host either. My reasons are that I live with an elderly mother who has serious health problems so having guests at home for hours is just an unnecessary stress fot her; also I don't like to cook for many people, I used to do when I had a partner and we had his family over for dinner but now I just wanna cook for 2 and last but not least I'm not an introvert but I really value and enjoy my privacy. My home is my private sanctuary, don't wanna have anyone walking around looking at my stuff 😂 Oh, and I'm very clean and having people over means I have the urge to clean thoroughly asa they've left 😂😂
    I'm not your typical hospitable italian 😊
    For me not owning stuff other people have is liberation.
    I know only sleep and food deprivation, anything else is accessory and a personal choice 😊
