Hello Raj.. Thanks for the info. One quick question that is not mentioned. In page 2 of TD1 Fed form, in the additional Tax to be deducted section, if we mention $ 500 towards additional tax to be deducted in the form, will the employer deduct $500 per pay check or $500 one time deduction or $500 to be divided in 26 pay checks if employee gets paid bi-weekly. Thanks in advance for answering this question..
Very thorough and clear guidance! Thank you I was able to fill my form without having to consult a CA.
That was super helpful and useful. Thanks!
Glad it helped !

What is my total salary exceeds my total claimed amount? Do I have to pay tax while filing the return?
Its really good .One suggestion its good to add some use case with number so that people understand more effectively
I do have that video as well, please feel free to find it in the channel :) glad you liked it!
Thank you for this, it's very helpful. I had a couple questions:
1. For the tuition amount: Does edX under UBC count as a recognized institution for this amount?
2. How do I fill out TD1BC-24E with this?
Hi, I am glad its helpful.
1. No, it doesn't, only charges by UBC directly will be counted, online courses doesn't count unless UBC is charging the amount and not edX
2. Follow the other TD1ON video, all provinces have same details just the numbers change, read your document and fill accordingly.
I hope it helps, please like the video :)
Tks for the video. It helped me a lot, but I'm still have a question. My wife is a college student and, lives with me and is not working. Do I add the value of the tuition fee in box 11?
Tks in advance.
Yes you may choose to add her credits if you are supporting her.
great video really, I had issues last year when I had 3 separate jobs full time and I claim in section one 15k for all of them and in the ende when did tax I have to pay to state like 400$ .... my guestion is
Im changing job soon which I started in December 2023 and now with TD form I will just add zero on line 1 and 13, but do I need to check box for the more then one employer??? Thanks in advance
Hi, yes, most likely your form from last year was continued by your employer and they might have already given you 15k credit, its better to check the box for this year and wait for filing taxes to get refunds instead of getting into a situation where you have to pay taxes, better not to claim for 2nd employer this year. I hope it helps!
Hi Raj. I have a question for you. When you quit your old job mid-year and start a new one do you still complete a TD1 form as if you never did one in your previous job? This is not 2 jobs running concurrently...just leaving one job to start another.
In that case, most likely your previous employer has used your basic income credits in the first half of the year, better to not fill the form or select that option, otherwise you might end up paying some tax at the end of the year.
Thanks for the video.
Regarding "total income less than claim amount" checkbox.
I was laid off on 1st December 2023 and since then I'm out of work.
I got a job recently and my joining date is 10th june.
Offically I'm out of work since last 6 months.
Should I check the "total income less than claim amount" checkbox ?
Hi, it is asking for your 2024 income probability, if you think you will make less than amount in line 13 by eoy, please do it.
How do I know if I class as a resident, I will be on my IEC visa, I am only planning to stay for likely 6 months but a year max, from your video I got the impression I’m classed as a resident but I have read articles that suggest on a working holiday visa you are a non resident in this vid I got the impression I’d be classed as a resident
If you are planning to stay for more than 6 months and you are on holiday work visa sort of situation, it is tied to being able to return back to home country and so you are non resident with such visa. Its easier to declare residency with study permit or multi year work permit, your case is conditional so better not to declare canada as residency
Excellent brother
I have one quiry that I am in edmonton alberta on work permit
And what I have to fill in deduction for living in prescribed zone
Hi, as I mentioned in the video there is a separte form which will help you calculate that, please find the link in description
I have a question. How do we know if the total income is less than the already filled in Line 13, does that mean income for the year 2023? , do we have to look at the taxes for the last year? Oh, how we can know that.
Most jobs have annual salary, if you have hourly salary then you can estimate your annual salary based on your hourly salary for 2024
Ok I m trying to fill out form I need to fill up only first line but when I submit it comes this line
Amount must be an integer.
What should I do
If I fill 0 for every doesn’t work
Any idea about that
For line 13 you need to add the value of line 1 if everything else is 0
Very useful video, but I still have a BIG doubt, if I'm by myself here as a temporary resident, no spouse, no child, and I'm not studying; what should I write on each space? just a $0?
Hi, yes
Hi can you please provide the link to the video which you made for international students I can't find it
Sorry, the video is still yet to release, it will be released in 10 days.
About Box 5 Tuition - I am a student in last semester of my program, the tuition fees is paid completely. Fees was paid in parts, some in 2023 and then in 2024 for last semester only. Am I supposed to mention total Tuition fees in box 5 Tuition?
Fees paid for the time you studied in 2023 and 2024 can be included if you never filled this form last year
Hi Mr. Raj, very helpful video. Can you pls advise if there is or what amount do I need to fill in on #7 of TD1 Personal Tax Credits Form that an employer asked me to fill-in, I am supporting my spouse who is a full-time international student with zero income; he is not infirm. Should I leave this blank? I get confused. Thank you
Hi, Enter Line 1 amount if your spouse is not earning and is dependent on you. I hope it helps!
Please create a video about Quebec TD1 form.
Sure.
Hello Raj
Thank you for the video! I have a question regarding box number one, I was working with a company for more than 7 years and was let go beginning of Feb 2024. Now I got a new job beginning April 2024 should I just use the 15705 in box one or am I considered with two employees despite being let go from the first job?
Please note that I did not fill the T1 form before but also I am not sure if the previous employer did that on my behalf.
Hi, The previous employer would use the basic amount claim and spread it across the year, at this time if I were you, I would just go ahead with full amount in box 1 and pay any over claimed taxes back next year.
@@invest4k Thank you for your advise.
If an employee has a work permit, they're considered a resident of Canada for the purposes of this form right? So they would leave the "non-resident" field empty?
Hi, yes :)
For line 6, if I've submitted the T2201 for my child, do I claim this? or would I use line 2?
You can claim line 2 in TD1 and claim the disability during tax return as line 6 is for self.
Thanks for your video. How to file?
Hi, just follow the video, I have provided details in description.
cant find the video you mentioned for international students at 4:05
working on it, coming in 2 days
Hii bro, I got notice from canada carbon rebate to give the information of my world income and my spouse but he doesn't arrive yet. Which document I need to snd and where and how. But I already mailed gst/hst form
Hi, as they mention, you only have to provide information for the world income and not your world income tax documents, they would have provided instructions with a specific form to download, fill up and mail them. Please check your cra account carefully
Hi Raj, wrt to line no.7 what if the spouse is not working and later started working
Hi, it means that you are not sure and in that case better to not claim that amount right now and wait for tax filing at the end of the year. Hope it helps!
Hello
I work two jobs and my second employer is not dedicating any tax from my pay. I had to pay $1800 this year because of the same reason. And my combined income will be more than 16000. Do i have to give a tick mark for the " second employer question" in page 2?
Hi yes, that way they will start deducting taxes.
I need to fill adjustment from for 2023 can you please make video on that please ?
Hi, adjustments are processed during tax file and not in TD1. Please feel free to send me email with your specific query raj@invest4k.com
Box no. 7 what if your spouse dose not work any where? She just stays home. Then what should i fill ?
Enter the full line 1 amount in that case.
Hi Raj, what about section 3. I'm not going to be 65 by December 31. What should I do about this?
Hi, Just write 0 in that case
So if I'm switching to a new employer in 2024. On page two, do I check "More than one employer or pager at the same time"?
Hi, yes if you switched after working for couple of months in 2024 as your old employer might have used your 15k credits to calculate tax.
Hi Raj, if I have more than 1 employer but I never filled in TD1 before, total income more than line 13 (total claim amount) then should I check the box “More than 1 employer or payer” ?
Also I join this company this Jan 8, they give me both 2023 and 2024, what would be the difference in claiming?
Hi, if you are only filling this form for 1 employer then don’t need to check box. 2023 form will be used until feb end and then 2024. Major difference is in the numbers (basic personal amount). I hope it helps.
Thank you soooo much 🧡🧡🧡🧡
hi raj how would I know if I have to tick the second box or not if I have only one job and not sure whether my income my income will exceed 15K in future or not? do I have to tick that?
Please dont tick the box if you are not sure.
How do I electronically sign the form? Or do I have to print it, hand sign it, and then scan it and send to my employer?
Hi, exactly that, you can print it, sign it and even give the paper form to employer or email them the image.
Thank You!!@@invest4k
Hi I got this form my employer but I will NOT be completing the TD1 form does it impact on my tax return ??? or please suggest
Hi, it will impact your tax return by getting more tax refunds incase you have any credits left. You can definitely choose not to file this form.
Great video! I have a question and I'd appreciate it if you or anyone knowledgeable could provide some guidance. My wife is an international student and I'm the only earner in the family. For line 7, can I add 15705 since my wife isn't earning?
Hi, Yes.
@@invest4k Thank you for the quick response
Do you have an information video based upon your kids going to college and transfering their claim of tuition and such ??
Hi, transferring is very simple just use your kids tuition amount for the particular year or wait for t2202 form at the end of the year and claim in taxes. As long as they are your dependent, you can claim.
@@invest4k I was told, just recently, by Hand R blcok that you have to have a certain amount of income in order to make the transfer equitable. They said at least 20,000/ annum in order for it to work or else there is no point.
Yes, they are right because that tution fees can be claimed only for taxes and not as refunds. Which means the basic credit is already 15000 for 2024, if you make less than that, you don’t pay any taxes anyways, if you paid any taxes the credits helps you to get that taxes back, with 20000 you will get taxes back for that 5k which will be using credits and giving you tax refunds. I hope it helps.
I'm living with my Spouse and she is not working,(no income at all) Do I need to still put some amount on section 7? please help me with this
Hi, yes in that case you can put full amount of line 1, i have explained it very well in video, please watch carefully, it will answer your question
For a full time single parent receiving child support can you claim section 8. For eligible dependant. Child less than 18
Hi, yes
Hi, my wife hasn't worked in the last 7 years. What do I put in the box 11
For your case its 0 in line 11
Hi Raj, I am a PR of Canada. Do i need to fill in 'Canada" in the section " country of permanent residence"?
Hi, No.
Hi , in line 7, my spouse doesn't work what would be the answer for that please?
Full amount of line 1 goes in line 7 in such case.
So do I just write 0 on whatever I am not claiming?
Yes
is line 13 is the total amount 15,705 + the claims or 0 ?
Line 13 will be total amount.
Sir, I came in canada as international student in May 2022 and I completed my studies in August 2023 ,,
I worked as cashier from august 2022 to January 2024.
But i never filled this form before ,, so now I'm filing this form first time for my another Job.
So, I have to mention my tuition fee in 5th Line ( from 2022 to 2023) ?
Or i have to mention just fee which i paid in 2023 for 2024 tax filing??
Hi, if you never claimed your tuition fees during filing taxes before , you can claim entire fees. If you are confused, don’t claim in Td1 rather claim when you file taxes
How much is put in line 7 if your spouse has no income,
And line 13. Thank you
Line 7 -= 0 and line 13 = whatever is total from line 1 to 12, please watch video carefully to understand
Hello bro, i have paid my one year tution fee in 2023 and now i will be paying 1 semester fee in august do i need to mention all the 3 semester fee or just one that i am going to pay this year. I am filling this form for the first time. Thanks
Hi, you can mention all your fees.
@@invest4k so i have to mention the fee for curent year only ?
Both current and last.
Can i claim my mother as a dependant if they have OAP?
Hi, you can only claim a parent 's(65 or old) credit if they are infirm through TD1. You can file their tax at the end of the year to claim other credits they might have. I hope it helps.
I have filled out the form already, tried to open it again however it asks for password and i do not see any instructions where to find the password, any idea why am i seeing a requirement for password?
Hi, thats very weird for me, may be just fill a new form as I know its not password protected.
I am a permanent resident student who is on scholarship i also get OSAP how do i fill line 5 please for the tuition
Hi OSAP is just a loan, ultimately you are getting those student credits, so please follow the video as it is!
Do we have to put 15,705?
Its already printed in the form
@@invest4k mine wasn't... Lol
probably the employer used other form, you can always download it from website, link is in the description of the video, either way that is the amount you need to fill, all the best!
