THANK YOU for this. One thing Canada is good at is throwing jargons at immigrants and international students and not providing any easily comprehensible resources to help them navigate process like this. As a result they spend a fortune to hire people to do these for them, which is insanely counterintuitive considering this can be easily overcome if the government actually had more user-friendly guides or Q&A sites. You just helped me a great deal!
My pleasure :)
Thank you so much for this video! I was a bit confused, but I filled it out correctly. Thanks to you.
Thank you very much. I was searching for answer and your vid came on spot! highly appreciated
I am glad the video helped you out :)
Thanks brother for the information, your video helped me a-lot.
My pleasure ❤️
Thank you, your video has been very helpful!
You are welcome!
Thank You so much, Brother 🤝
Thank you so much for this.
Thank you bro!! Super helpful.
I am glad 🙂
Thanks a bunch the video was very helpful
I am glad!
Hello. Thank you for such a detailed explanation. I do have a question- what do I enter into box 7 and 8 if I don't have a spouse?
Hello, you should enter "0"
Hi, I was working until May, 2024 for my previous emplyoer. I have worked in this company for past 3 years and I didnt fill this TD-1 form. Now I will be working for a new employer in Junly, 2024. I am not sure if I should check and tick mark "More than one employer or payer at the same time". Videos was really helpful, many thanks
No, if you didn’t fill TD1 before, you don’t need to select the box.
Hi, I dont have a job till october should i need to fill the basic personal amount coloumn?
I received my T4s from my employers and a T2 from my school. I was not aware that two of my employers were not deducting my income. How can I make this right so when I claim for my 2024 tax return I would not owe the government? Now, I only have 2 jobs, and until now I am still confused on how to update my TD1, also I already paid my 2024 tuition. I hope you can provide me some guidance. Thank you
Now, click the checkbox one or more employer and give it to any one of the employer so you are ok to claim from only 1 employer and dont have to end up paying tax next year. For this year, you have to pay if its above your credits.
Hi I have one question Regarding tution fee section I have my tution fee by my brother card I am international student I pay my first fee by my brother card. So suggest me What I fill in this box.
THANK YOU :))
Actually, I have doubt about number 5. I am student at college and I do not pay any fees after reaching canada. I landed here in sept 2023. Please tell me what to do write in the 5 number box.
Enter tuition fees you paid for first semester last year and whatever you will pay this year
So if you have job or not you have to write 15,705 in number 1st?
I am on implied status and graduated 2 months ago so can I enter my 2 years tuition fees which I haven’t claimed any tax credit on it?
If i dont put my university fees in form will i get that tax amount as credits after the year when i file taxes ?
Thank you brother! This really helps me out🤎
Love it!
hello, i fill this form before but now i did not work for that prayer anymore so i have to tick in more than one employer or not?
Hi! I have a question: If I am filling out this form for a new employer, but I already filled out the form for previous employer at the beginning of the year, but will no longer be working for them, should I check the “more than one employer at the same time” box?
Yes, because in current year you already claimed basic amount credits with previous employer.
You mentioned that we have to tick the box “Total income is less than the total claim amount” if your total income is less than 15,705 dollars. But it should be less than 15,705 dollars plus tuition fees ryt?. Does it have to be less than 15,705 or less than total claim amount which is 15,705 plus other expenses
less than the total claim amount, if your total claim amount (line1 + other claims) is more than your income, you can tick the box.
Hi! This video has beed super helpful! I have a question about the tuition part, do I have to disclose the amount paid this year for tuition if it is my parents that are paying for it?
I am glad its helpful ! Yes, ultimately you are paying tuition and its not a scolarship so yes, you are entitled to get those credits back.
Thanks a lot brother. Also I wanted to ask if you made a video for TD1ON form for international students?
I am glad, I am helpful! I haven't made for international students but my video on TD1ON on channel pretty much covers everything you need to know.
I have a question. When we enter the full tuition fee for the year, do we have to enter the actual fees we pay (increasing because of inflation and greater than the amount listed on LOA) or we enter the estimated total fee ( that is on the LOA issued)? What can we do when the hiring company wants us to fill out the TD1 Form during mid-year because, the tuition fees for the remaining future terms for the same year can change. Thank you.
You write any fees you paid or will pay by the end of 2024.
Thank you so much for your video. I was wondering how to fill out the Tuition portion if you are a recipient of a scholarship.
you dont use scolarship as its not paid by you.
@@invest4k so do you mean, we don't have to fill the line 5 (or put zero) coz the tuition is paid by the sponsor ?
Hi, the details like Name, Sin Number, Address etc. which are required to be filled at the top of this form is used by employer for employee's T4 form. Right?
Nope its your information and you fill it
Suppose I had paid one-year fee for 2024 in Dec 2023 and again I need to pay for 3 and 4 semesters within 2024 November in that case should i had to include all the semesters fee
Hi, if you didn't claim any tuition in 2023 taxes then yes.
Hello, I had a question regarding the tuition. I started studying in Canada in September 2021 and I have paid international tuition fees until April 2024 and I have not filed taxes yet. I am about to start an internship and the employer asked me to fill it and I’m not sure which tuition I should pay for; the total amount from the last couple of years or just of this year until December?
Hi, if you never received any tax back or never filed it, please enter the whole tuition if you want to use credit for this job, most likely you will end up not paying taxes for this year :)
Thank you so much for your video, but I had a doubt🙃 for this year I received 3 scholarships to help pay my tuition should I have included these amounts or just what I paid from my own money?
Hi , Usually scholarships are not eligible, but you can confirm with your institution if you have exemption for the particular scholarship or not, worse case just wait for T2202 early next year.
thank you so much, but i wonder why you skipped the dependant child as some student family have children, it would help.thanks
Please take a look at the full video on my channel, this one is specifically designed for international students but that video has everything
@invest4k yeah I did, before this one. Does that mean if your child is an infant you claim the full 15k?
not infant, infirm.
As I am on my summer break right now for May - September and starting my Job now my fees owing to the University will be from September 2024, what should I fill in point 5. Tuition.
any fees you paid or will pay in 2024
Please I have a question I filled out this form in march when I got a new job and in the tuition part back then I put in what the yearly payment for my fees ought to be as a full time student and realized that my pay checks haven’t been having taxes deducted from them I’ve asked to fill another form as I don’t want to be owing taxes come 2025 tax season do I put in the amount I paid for just the January - April semester there or should I still put in the full amount for the whole year I’m expected to pay?
Hi, if your credits are more than income, they wont deduct taxes, if you are confused you can reach out to me tidycal.com/rajpatel/30-minute-consultation
Hi Raj, Thank you for your detailed video. I have some questions:
1. Last year i had 2 jobs . One i left in June 2023 and other i am continuing and planning to leave in first week of June 2024 . I had filled TD1 and TD1 ON form last year . For job that i left in last year June 2023 i claimed and for other job which i will leave soon i checked more than one employer.
Now my question is now i am starting to do new job and i will have that only one job at that time, but now my new employer asked me for these forms what should i do. Should i tick more than one employer or not
2. I filled TD1 ON form and new job is in BC so form will be TD1BC. My question is should i claim it as last year i filled TD1ON and this year is TD1BC .
Please advise
Hi,
1. In this case you can fill the form as your other active employer is not claiming your credits.
2. Yes, exactly correct you fill the BC form instead.
Hi, regarding 5. Tuition. I paid this year's college fee on April. now I am asked to fill out this form by company I'm going to join. Do I need to put this year's paid fee in that?
Yes, any fees you paid or will pay in 2024
I had filed tax for previous year however I am not sure if I have claimed any tax return for tuition yet. Shall I add prev year fees or not?
Also shall i enter estimated tuition fees or it should be the exact amount?
Hi, sure you can add if you didn’t claim or earned any income last year
Hi there,
Thank you so much for the video. Can you please explain me if i can add $2616 in line 2? when i first filled out the form for my previous employer I kept it 0 but now i have the paperwork can i add the amount?
Sure
Hello sir, please let me know if I have paid fees of this year in the previous year, and I have filed taxes including this year's fees. So do I need to add the fee amount in the form? Please reply it's urgent sir, it will be a great help. And in TD 1 province form, I have selected the option which shows that my income is lesser than my claimed amount, but if it surpasses the claimed amount in future will I get in any trouble?
Hi Yes you can add the fees as long as you didn’t add it last year. If your income increases more than you claim, you will have to pay the remaining amount thats all.
@@invest4k Thanks a lot sir, I really appreciate that you took special time out of your life to reply someone from whom you have nothing to take. You helped me a big time. Have a great sir.
I do reply to all my comments, have a great day!
for the address, should I put in the one I registered with CRA (mailing) or my current address? also, for tuition fees, I'm filing TD1 for the first time since I came here in 2022 Sep, should I put in the amount for both 2022 and 2023-24 OR 2023-24 fall-winter semesters OR 2023-24 fall-winter & summer ? Thanks in advance!
also, does the amount have to be very exact? like, would it be a problem if it's a few hundred dollars off?
whatever is your permanent address (registered with cra), tution totally depends if you already claimed some amount since last year or not, cant assume. The amount doesn't have to be exact but if you put more than you are entitled, you will have to pay tax, if you are not sure better put 0
Hello, I came here in Canada in March 2024, but I paid for 2term fees in 2023 then how much should i fill in tuitions form like my full 1year fees or only how much i paid that much only.In 2024 I'm going to complete 3terms only in this year and 4th term in 2025 then how much should i enter here 1year fee amount or 3term fee only?
Hi, you can enter the amount for all the semester in 2024.
@@invest4k Thank you Sir💗
Hi, I came to Canada in fall 2023, but i paid the fee for two semesters before coming, now im filling this form in march 2024, what fee should i enter?
Hi, whatever you paid or will pay for 2024 will go in that section.
Hello! I have a question 5 tuition fee.
I got the coop and will be starting on July for two semester.
I paid winter (jan + april)
Summer (may to aug )
Will paid winter as well
So should i put winter +summer + fall?
Hi, yes anything for current year.
Hi there its been 4 months since i have been in canada and i have been employed at tacobell but they didnt ask me to fill any form but SRG security has asked me to fill this form so should i tick the box of more than one employer or not and if yes what else do i need to fill
Hi, not in this case as you are only filing this for the first time.
Hello, I have a question. I came in Canada in April month and started my first semester in May month. I am going to complete my two semesters in 2024. Do I have to enter the total tuition fees for two semesters only in section 5??
yes
Hi Raj, I paid my tuition fee in 2023 last year and I've just started a job this month 2024. What should I fill in the number 5?
Hey! Last year + this year fees
Hello sir, I have a question that in this year2024 my spouse did not get job till now so what should I fill in the 7th column and another question is that I was working with another employer for first two months and Now I am gonna start work with another employer so what should I do in that case
Hi, for 2024 if you believe your spouse will get a job, fill 0 else follow what I mentioned. If it was just 2 months, follow this TD1 form , you might need to pay some taxes at the end of the year for those 2 months incase they used Line 1 credit.
I recently got job and im asked to fill
TD1
So my question is whether I should claim for my husband who is doing uber past 2 months. ? Or he can do his own and i put 0?
Hi, ideally he will be filing taxes and so you can use 0 for simplicity
Hi, in the section 5, I will start my masters degree in September 2024 and it will be 3 semester. Uni offered me GRA and TA. I will work as TA for 2 semester and my uni will cover my 1st and 2nd semester as they’ll give me GRAship. But the 3rd semester, I have to pay in 2025. What should I write there? Thanks for the video
Hi, for now “0”.
Hi have completed my studies in 2022 but now i get this form should i put amount in tution credits
Hi, it depends if you have used your tuition credits so far and how much already, feel free to book appointment if you want to discuss.
i GOT SCHOLARSHIP AT UNIVERSITY , BUT WONDERING IF i HAVE TO PUT THE AMOUNT I PAID TUTION? THOUGH IT WAS GIVEN BY UNIVERSITY
No, its not tuition paid, its a grant so you don't use that as tuition paid
Hey, for line 5, I have never worked in canada. Hence, its my first CO-OP in canada and i have been here for 3 years....I have paid fees for university for all 3 years upto now a. So do i calculate the amount to type for 3 years or just 2023.
Hi, all 3 years as you will have full credits available to you.
@@invest4k thanks alot for the information, just one more thing can i just write the carry over amount mentioned for Federal Tuition, Education and Textbook Amounts, as per my CRA account?
Hello. I have another question. I will be entering university in the fall but I've already been enrolled into that university, should I put my fall tuition in box 5 or should I put 0 since I'm currently not in university?
If you are sure you are going to attend, then you can use the fees for this fall.
i am filling this form first time and till now I was unemployed so what to fill in the basic personal amount now. PLZ Clamrify my doubt
Hi, in this case the basic personal amount will be same in the Line 1, no need to change that.
I have filled this for before, for a different employer last year but i have not claimed any money at all. am i suppose to tick that box?
Hi, if you haven’t claimed other things which you want to claim, but its a 2nd employer, add 0 in line 1 and for rest of the lines add your credits accordingly.
I'm new in Canada submitted my fees for 2 semester already so what should i write in school fees box
How much fees doesn’t matter, how many semesters you complete this year to utilize that fees matters so if you are finishing 2 semester this year, add full fees you paid
Bro i have paid sept 2023 and jan 2024 fees. I have also filed taxes for 2023 year. I dont understand that i have to fill the fees all 4 sems or i just have to fill only the amount i paid in last 2 sems
Hi,
If you got any tax back in 2023 taxes, you have already claimed some tution, in that case only mention 2024 fees, if didn't then you can mention all 2023,2024 fees. I hope it helps.
Hi raj!! I paid my college fees on 2023 after that i got deferral letter from college and i got enrolled in JAN 2024, but college fee for 2024 is lesser than the fees in 2023 according to the offer letter from college. What amt should i need to enter on 5th place?
Hi, you should enter whatever is your actual college fees "updated"
Do we have to Enter the amount of fees in both provincial and federal forms??
Hi, yes you have to!
How do i claim the personal tax credit amount. i have not claimed it and am filling this form for another employer and am still working with the first employer. in the tuition option, i added the last year own and this year own. in number 13 for the total, i calculated number plus my total tuition, am i right? so with my situation, do i need to tick any box
Yes you added the information correctly for page 1 , but because you haven’t claimed these amounts for first employment you don’t need to tick box
Hi Raj, This is Akshatha. I am international student in ON but not working (not even part time). But my husband is working , in this case how do i fill the tax form.
Where we will get TD 1 form ? I have received T2202 and T4A documents from college. Kindly help
Hi, in this case you don't need to fill out this form, its only for employees' starting their new job.
I have paid the last year fee and know this year i going to pay the fee then i have to fill the amount of this year fee that i will pay ?
Please mention any fees you will be paying in 2024.
hi sir
i worked for a construction dismantle job for one night and last year and i filled this form last year
what do i fill now
Yes you should fill the form for a new job
Hey raj i worked for a different conpany last year uptil this month and quit and i filled this, do i need to fill in for more than 1 employer now i am working at a new company?
Most likely your previous employer used the basic amount. Just go with more than 1 and avoid risk of paying taxes at the end of the year.
Hlo brother i have already filled the form for my previous employee and i am no longer working for them and while filling it i have written all the field zero except no 1 and current i am working for another employer can i fill that again by making some changes in tution credit part.please reply .
Hi, yes you can as long as you left last job, your tuition credits will take care of any taxes so its all fine.
Is it mandatory to fill amount in first section
Its already filled. Nothing is mandatory in TD1
Sir i have applied for the gst credits too like i would get the money from the government so should i tick that cpp or qpp box or not
Not unless you are retired and getting the money, gst is not cpp
Thanks 😊
You're welcome!
Hi, I have a question.
I came here in Sept 2023. I paid my fees in 2023 for Fall 2023 and Winter 2024.
I did my first ITR with only T2202 in March.
Now I'm planning to take my second program for Sept 2024. And I have paid 1500 CAD as initial payment. I'll also pay 8500 CAD more (10000 CAD in total) this year as first semester fees.
I'm starting my first job this month.
This is my first time filling out TD1. So what amount should I enter in box 5?
Hi,
you can write whatever you are going to be claiming for 2024, which means, fees of 2024 (previous and future) if you are paying a deposit (your case $1500) , its a credit in your account and if its not used for fees, you dont claim that yet, only claim fees for 2024. I hope it helps!
@@invest4k Okay. Thank you😊
Hey actually I’m a student; my Tution is 40 k for this year, and the basic amount of 15705 sums it up to 55705; should I tick any boxes if I’ll be making 35-40 k for this year ? Like also, should I tick my income < my credit or do we consider 15705 as credit instead of the whole 55705 amount ?
No you have to tick that your income < credit as your overall credit is more.
@@invest4k so I should tick my income < my credit ?
Yes
Hi, I have a question about the more than one employer checkbox. So I have filled out a TD1 Form for a current employer last year. I’m not sure if they would be using the same form for this year as well. I have to fill out this form for a second job. So should I check this box?
Hi, they will be using the same form for this year, if you are doing another job you have to check the box.
Brother please make a whole process to get pnp under rural renewal stream. After study from fort McMurray, AB.
