I am from Telangana (India) , in our childhood to get the sprout inside the shell , it would take 10 to 15 minutes for each, toddy palm is a magical tree , we drink its sap , wine , and we eat its seeds , fruits, sprout, stem and even fungus growing inside it (we call it thati buzu) , we use its leaves to make ropes , glases for drinking water and as roof of houses and its stem is used to build houses and as firewood

Currently watching. The scenery is so beautiful. It’s nice to see people aren’t typing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc in the comments. It’s pathetic. Enjoy the commentary.
Loved this!! Would love to see more videos highlighting different fruits and veggies in Thailand! Especially how to eat after walking around a market drooling at everything :)
Brought back fond memories of growing up in Mumbai. We used get the jelly like fruit which used to be our after school snack. Locally it is called Taad Gole, taad= palm and gole=ball. In South India they would sell it whole with the husk and all and I think they called it nongu. Nongu sherbat is an amazing refreshing drink made from it.

Mark, I just wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed watching as you've developed your cinematography style. Your videos are not only learning experiences but you finish feeling like you've actually been to these places. Beautifully done! I hope that eating all that palmyra didn't put you out of commission for too many days! LOL

Mark thanks for sharing your family and taking me round the world with you... it's been over 7 years or more I have been with you . Thank you so so much
The palm fruit is called " Luk Tarn ", it is tasty but not recommended for a one biter. Because, it is very slippery and you can easily get choked eating it that way. The best way to eat it is to slice the Luk Tarn into thin and small bite size. Love the VDO and please keep it coming Mark.
Oh, love it, the yellow juice we make fritters, have to seive the juice, add rice flour, sugar, grated coconut, flour, water, thick better, and fry in dollops
As kids we used to sneak into a boarding where they had like tons of these palm trees! We would leave bruised but happy! The more I watch your videos the more I realise how much the fauna Flora in Tropical Asia is almost the same as in Africa. Always great watching your videos!
When I was about 10-12 years during monsoon early morning I see to go to our palmyra trees in our land and pick up fallen palm fruit and eat. The taste is quite unique and so natural in taste. I am from a village near Machilipatnam, Krishna District, AP. Mark video sent me to nostalgia. Thx
Thank you for the cool video! The seed jelly socket of the fruit is common delicacy here in the northern shore of Java in Indonesia. People usually made beverages with the slices of the jelly combined with palm sugar and coconut cream. But I never know that the husk could be consumed immediately like that. It is kind of unusual here. Really amazing discovery there!

Mark, thank you for this great video, did you try the palm wine? it made from the palm flower sap. It is really good, if chilled it taste like Winter harvest wine. The Indians called it "Toddy"

As I'm from Batticaloa, eastern part of Srilanka, we had this palm tree tons of them in our backyard. Normally the whole palm fruit you put it in a open fire and roasted for at least 30 minutes. It's become more sweeter. The seed you can put it back in the land and make more trees. But if you leave it for a month in the land and take it, you can boil it and eat with coconut chunks. You can even sun dried the roots too, to eat in the future. This trees have use of every parts. Top to bottom. PS: You can make toddy too 😉
Same in India also....Mostly south indians know these tree.....And in summer time we can lot of trees with this, Andhrapradesh, Tamilnadu, Telangana, etc...
