It is live, it is amazing, you get up-close camera shots of his piano playing, and the saxophone player is also incredible. "This Is The Time" has a smooth Dire Straits vibe. "Running On Ice" has a new wave feel with The Police coming to mind. The drumming has Stewart Copeland written all.over it, as Joel's delivery has Sting's cadence. Steve Winwood and Cyndi Lauper are featured tracks. Ray Charles "My Baby Grand," is a legendary. I met Billy Joel at a restaurant next to my apartment that tour.

That child is their daughter Alexa Ray Joel, who is 37 years old now and a pianist and singer-songwriter herself. I remember seeing this video for the first time on BBC2 here in the UK, and it was also the first time I had seen Billy 'play' guitar, but it is frightening to think that it was nearly 40 years ago. The Ray part of Alexa's name is after Ray Charles and he and Billy did a duet together called Baby Grand that was on the same album as this song.

Billy is just miming. He didn't play guitar on the actual recording. The real guitarists were David Brown and Russell Javors, both of whom played on a number of Billy Joel albums.
I just Stevie and Billy in concert last night here in Minneapolis; great show but I do wish he had included this song in his set list as it is one of my favorites. A similar song is "All About Soul" but the song I think you should check out the most is "Goodnight Saigon." It is about the experiences of soldiers in the Vietnam War.

I never heard a Billy Joel song that I didn't like but I have to say this is my favorite by the way he was married to Christie Brinkley and she is in this video holding their daughter , I think you only see them twice. My favorite album is The Stranger every song is fabulous

He was married to supermodel Christie Brinkley who was in this video, he was singing directly to her and their baby at one point in the video. She was the beautiful blonde holding the baby, standing in the background, smiling at him. She was in many of his videos.

That child is their daughter Alexa Ray Joel, who is 37 years old now and a pianist and singer-songwriter herself. I remember seeing this video for the first time on BBC2 here in the UK, and it was also the first time I had seen Billy 'play' guitar, but it is frightening to think that it was nearly 40 years ago.
The Ray part of Alexa's name is after Ray Charles and he and Billy did a duet together called Baby Grand that was on the same album as this song.

Billy is just miming. He didn't play guitar on the actual recording. The real guitarists were David Brown and Russell Javors, both of whom played on a number of Billy Joel albums.

I just Stevie and Billy in concert last night here in Minneapolis; great show but I do wish he had included this song in his set list as it is one of my favorites. A similar song is "All About Soul" but the song I think you should check out the most is "Goodnight Saigon." It is about the experiences of soldiers in the Vietnam War.

Billy Joel is an American treasure. His whole catalog is amazing. Go into some of his deep tracks and they are still amazing.

When people saw Billy playing guitar they were shocked - he was the Piano Man! He laughed about it, saying he only could play some rhythm chords and doubted if his guitar was even plugged in!

By far the most beautiful Billy Joel song is Downeaster Alexa. He did so much for the fishing trade with that song, and it's just heartbreaking. "There ain't no island left for islanders like me."
