The fact that Japanese speakers still have to clear this up for people is ridiculous, are people just not reading the subs properly when baka comes up?
I think it’s because of songs and stuff. Unlike anime or other Japanese shows, songs won’t always come with subtitles so people rely on the “vibe” or mood it gives off. Literally one time during online class the teacher decided to mix the classes in the google meet and istg the chat WAS BRIMMING with weeaboos and koreaboos. Like every second someone will be typing out “NO YOU STUPID BAKA,” or “OMGGG SO KAWAIIII,” I’ve never wanted to punch those girls so much, not to mention that they were also those “OMG IM SO QUIRKY,” girls. Also they were fujoshis and they don’t even watch anime.

Most people I'm pretty sure use it to say they are a fan of Manga, anime, or japan.
It's actual meaning has something to do with wanting to be Japanese born.
It's kind of like the word dank. It's used to talk about cool things.
It actually means something along the line of damp, or moist.
So I guess weeb is a slang word. I think that's how slang words work. I don't know.
