China's Aggression Against India Deliberate: John Bolton

  • NEW DELHI: He has been one of those who have got closest to observing how the unpredictable U.S. President Donald Trump makes decisions with regard to foreign policy. 17 months into being the U.S. National Security Adviser, John Bolton was fired or he quit, as he insisted. Now, just months before the scheduled U.S Presidential election, Bolton’s book ‘The Room Where It happened’ is turning out to be a bestseller but not without its share of controversy. Speaking to StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale, Bolton defended his book, saying it had no classified information, while pointing out that only when ‘the author gets critical about the incumbent that people get upset about it’.
    Trump came to the job not well informed about a number of international issues. No president comes equipped 360 degrees when they start in office but Trump is not terribly interested in learning either and so for many of the issues that are complicated, it’s hard to get his attention, said Bolton, adding that ‘Trump has trouble distinguishing between his personal relationships with foreign leaders on the one hand and the underlying bilateral U.S. relationship with the country in question as the other’.
    So what guides Trump’s foreign policy decisions? “All politicians in democratic societies take politics into account in their decision making. The difference with Trump is politics can go from being a factor in decision making to the factor. And that happens all too often,” said Bolton.
    He says the recent Chinese aggression in Ladakh was ‘deliberate, with an objective in mind’.
    And he revealed that the United States played a role in ensuring the India-Pakistan conflict didn’t escalate in the aftermath of last year’s strike on Balakot by the Indian air force.

    What are these "complications" in the US - INDIA relationship ?

    • @amarishg3096
      @amarishg3096 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lady Anon
      Personally as an Indian, I wish, that the US would pressurize, really hard, the Indian bureaucracy and politicians to bring down the tariffs and duties very low, especially in manufacturing and services. Ex: I ordered a product from the US to India twice. It landed at the Indian customs twice but never got to me. It was a simple health supplement, either they snitched it or wouldn't allow it in, why? Because they have the power, that's it. Japan and the US protect its agriculture, India needs to protect and help the farmer like everyone else. The Indian politician is more dim witted than the American, so it is unlikely that they will free the Police from political interference and revamp the Judiciary to make it faster and humane. The Judicial officers are a law unto themselves. The Indian bureaucracy is a mill stone around our neck. It's supposed to be the backbone but it is really pulling the people down and shunting the ingenuity and enterprise of the people. India will become strong and rich when the people become really free, and they are unshackled from the bureaucracy and the antiquated, cumbersome laws and procedures. Then our geo-political location won't be a problem because just like the US or Russia we will have the science and technology of our own and from that a self-sustaining military industrial complex. Rogues nations like China will have fear and will stop playing Sun Tzu on us. Since India was a colonial country it is wary of again becoming a colony of another country, so India shouldn't become a pawn of US or any other country but I think, we should get very close to the US as long as the US doesn't try to impose its policies on us. The values enshrined in the US Constitution is very close to Indian values and ethos. No harm in correcting the Indian Constitution towards individual freedom and enterprise. US has a history of playing two parties in another country against each other, creating war etc. The US Administration and Businesses need to learn to respect other people and their opinions and problems. The US is built up as a country for liberty for the individual while in India liberty is for the crowd (mob). Indian Judiciary need to learn to protect the freedom and rights of the individual. Being able to burn ones own country's flag or wearing it as an underwear is not freedom. Human beings need symbols, they give us stability. Teacher, Mother, Father, Siblings, Wife, Children, Home, Family, God, these are all symbols. The Flag is also a symbol. People are dying this very moment for our Flag. It needs to fly high and be mighty. With the human brain at its present evolution we are not going to live in peace and harmony in the near future, so we need to prepare ourselves fast. We are backward and won't last in an evolutionary tussle. Beware, India is already late and could perish.

    Disappointed with this interview. You title is “China’s Aggression Against India, John Bolton”, yet the first half of the interview was book promotion and Bolton Bashing of Trump. Maybe a title that describes the content of your channel would be more appropriate? I would also add Bolton’s opinion that after a Trump win in 2020 that he would leave “India out to Dry” says Mr. Bolton has learned nothing about President Trump. If Trump remembers one thing, its if you burn me, I’ll make you pay. The Chinese, US Relation is over and if President wins re-election, India as well as other Asian and South East Asian countries will benefit from. John, stop allow your pride of being fired, guide your responses to interviews on who President Trump is. Man up and be a grown up. You had policy differences with the President and it lead to your dismissal. Thats fine, move on and try to redeem you reputation as I used to be a big supporter of yo in the UN and your collaboration with President Bush’s Administration.

    The world has changed a lot. Every day it is changing.
    What we had studied in old Manageril school and old Politics will not work anymore.
    Whatever strategical plannig come with will not work anymore now.
    China is the example .
    Who thought , in the world, what happened to them ever happens?
    China was very good in planning and executing. They did it well in the world and was , almost in control of all small counries, and even big counries couldnot live without China . They supply even inactive ingrediants in common drugs even to hostle India. Now all their plans in astray...?
    Knowing it all priors, are no more a practical method or need , to resolve current issues . Issues are new now . Knowledge of prior political experience makes old Politicians just to continue all falsely accepted precedings for easy going.
    Paying all dues to WHO is easy ; and paying dues for Global warming is easy. No complains. Accepting whatever China does is easy.
    New Leaders need not follow old views, old fashion , old relations .
    When everything and everyone changed, do not cling on past .
    So it is better to face reality as it comes.
    Trump policy never failed as it is based on things happen right now; rather than applying what had studied in school or learned from old Political system . People are new, systems are new, thoughts are new. Sickness are new, technology new, Politics new and Politicians new.
    Why clinging on past faulty system .
    Face the reality as it occurs.
    Keep having reserves.
    What was customery and following it was easy to Politicians ; no complains needed was old Politics - complains needed... learn and correct it - rather than lavishing.
    Lavishing is on People's expense?
    GOD IS IN CONTROL OF EVEYTHING ULTIMATELY.
