The fact she unironically clings to the 'Mission Specialist' nonsense really says all that is necessary to be said. I do not believe her testimony and I do believe Lochridge.
Ditto. There’s no comparison. Lochridge was professional and precise in his testimony, with a tremendous work ethic and years of experience to back it up.
Likewise.
it seem like she har become obedient, from other testemony it seem like the board and our main guy is acting like tyrants and bullies, and i have to say that the engineer and other specialists that have testified have been more cutthroat and no walking around the question with feelings
Herat! Hear!.. Lochridge has more integrity, intelligence, self respect, honour, knowledge & insight than Renata could eco image.. Her intellect is so minuscule & on a toddler level compared to Lochridges knowledge..
Middle aged adventure seeker lady was so happy to be accepted in the group that would work for free cleaning and serving. Mission Specialist, what a joke
Well, she does have every dive certificate you can get.
@@martinwhite418Just because you're a cardiologist's assistant , doesn't mean that you can perform a triple bypass surgery 🥸
@@martinwhite418 no she doesn't. she a pretend diver. not a commercial diver. she isn't a "diver" she's someone with a few tickets anyone can get by paying money. they are not real tickets they are recreational tickets. real tickets are ADAS part 1, 2, 3 and 4. LST (Life support technician), ALST (assistant life support technician). those are real dive tickets. and dave lockridge has all of them, or the HSE (UK) equivalent of those tickets. her tickets are for kids. anyone can walk off the street and get them, they are not real tickets, they are just a way that the recreational dive companys make money by offering these meaningless tickets to get money. she has no understanding of how work is done underwater. all she learnt how to do is put the gear on and press the buttons. iv worked in offshore oil and gas as a diver on saturation diving jobs. ive worked with yesterdays witness dave Lockridge. even among us skilled divers with all these professional tickets there is a hierarchy of skills. doesn't matter what tickets you have, its your ability and skills that matter. you gain no skills from being a passive observer in a non commercial working environment. nothing. all your doing is floating and breathing. your not solving problems, rebuilding dive systems, maintaining full ships full of hyperbaric equipment. installing huge pipes and valves on 12 hour shifts, landing 100T manifolds on the seabed in zero vis and mud up to your waist. she a kiddy diver. again. she has no real world experience as a working diver. she was in an office her entire life and someone offered her adventure, she thought she was instantly a commercial diver. she was not. she knew nothing of the environment she found her self in. this is typical of Stockton and other people who want to do commercial work and not pay the workers or follow the rules, they get people to work for them who have no industry experience so they dont know how dangerous and stupid the things going on around them are. They stay becasue they are in awe of the opportunity they wouldnt otherwise recieve from a regular sub team or dive team that doesnt allow people with zero experience or qualifications to work for them. are you getting the picture now? this is a modified stockholm syndrome scenario. she is protecting the person who put her in danger becasue they shared an emotional bond from the incredibly dangerous position he put her in.
I don’t blame her. Doesn’t seem much different from the spaceX “mission specialists”
@@martinwhite418 but did she ever actually dive on any of these "missions"?
There was a journalist on the dive to the Andrea Dora. He said if it wasn’t for David getting them out off there they would have died. There was also a lot of panic. He is still traumatised to this day. I’m not sure if he had a breakdown. The committee should interview him to get the true story of what happened when Stockton Rush got them well and truly stuck inside the prow. Also, she didn’t even know a vessel had to be registered. 😳
@@TexasKim yes, that’s right. I think she was in love with Rush!!
Absolutely, and then slap Miss Rojas with perjury...
Do you remember journo's name ?
Mission specialist was just a way for Rush to bypass the rules and responsibilities. He was taking paying passengers who did unpaid work if they felt like it. Same with the waiver they had to sign, it was just a way for Ocean Gate to try and avoid legal and financial responsibility.
Wow!!!! Did you find that out all on your own…. Or did you hear it from like 80 other sources last year like the rest of us?
@@ChiliSkwertz cheer up buttercup
@@ChiliSkwertzpeople like you are always so pleasant.
My God, this woman is insufferable.
Someone should tell her that a paying customer is not a mission specialist. Calling passengers mission specialists was Rush's way of getting around the rules, i think the fake title has gone to her head.
It was his way of believing he had made the astronaut program 🤭😂🤣
THIS. At one point she was asked what being a mission specialist involved on a day to day basis and what she did on dives and her response was "That's a heavily loaded question". Someone asking what you did is a "heavily loaded question?" Her "role" seemed to literally be watching others do work and her handing them a wrench now and then. What a joke.
@@nightshiftrider819 she was heavily stoned on the Stockton Kool aid
@@YortOKflavor aid
@@nightshiftrider819 right. She's fooled herself into thinking she's like an astronaut or something
She is a fool! You dont call the USCG for a decompression injury, you call DAN. She is not a "super qualified super SCUBA diver, deep ocean wreck diver, with wings". Any diver that touts their credentials in this way is a tool and you should be very wary of diving with them.
This is such a good point 😬
Diver Alert Network. Yes, they organise emergency evacuations.
Her testimony illustrates just how manipulated Oceangate passengers were. She thought everything was so professional while meanwhile, the sub is put together with duct tape and she's being called a "Mission Specialist" so they can avoid professional liability and get free labor.
Yes she was manipulated, but she should have seen enough.
I mean she was on a dive where:
- The thrusters were installed incorrectly
- They were thinking of rebooting the system *4000* meters below the sea
- A battery died
- The Sonar did not work
- They lost all power just when they were about to dock
and she describes it as if it's a successful dive.
@@rookhammock6328 I don't disagree. She should have seen, but between her cognitive dissonance and their snake oil sales techniques, a person with her mindset was never going to "see" anything.
Yeah, probably. From her statements it seems that she respects the people she met and worked with at OceanGate. She was on the boat for weeks multiple times. She must have strong bonds with some people working there. I see her statements in the light that she probably wants to protect them. I understand that from a human point of view, but as a society we have to make sure such incidents do not happen again.
I'd be surprised if her account of events would be the truth. Her statements just seem so out of place given what we heard so far.
Bullshit. These people knew they were no mission specialists. She even stated that she was basically a gopher. There are no “gophers” in mission control during a space shuttle launch. But Stockton was a disgusting cult leader for sure. Call them whatever you want, it will not relieve you of liability - at least not under U.S. law.
@suigeneris2663 I mean, the power of self delusion is strong with these kinds of mindsets. She's clearly convinced herself everything is above board, and Stockton had a financial incentive (dare I say a sociopathic drive?) to trick these rich people into paying him to come play in a pretend sub. You are correct though, she would 100% fall for a cult 😂
She is completely warped in her reality. Her idolising of Rush and her self importance of being able to say she was a mission specialist is obvious. If she admits reality then she was conned and deceived and her ego will not let her.
Yep. typical sunk cost issues. She has to keep deluding herself because it's much more difficult to change trajectory and admit everything is a lie. She has to protect her image of herself as an 'explorer' at all costs.
Anyone wondering how much the lawyer got paid to sit there like a lemming?
Her testimony seems very biased and contradicts David's account of the Andrea Dora incident. Something about her feels like a red flag. 🤔💯
PH Nargeolet was on board with the mission and he was very experienced!
We allI know exactly who's account is accurate here she clearly doesn't like him as she only ever calls him "Lockeridge" not Mr or David whilst she uses first names for everyone else shes not credible
@@shaunmcclory8117 I caught that too. She seems loyal (Or brainwashed) to Stockton. Almost like a former lover or mistress.
Different people can feel different ways about the same event.
@@jasonmarquez5776 I had foresseen this when David Lochridge mentioned she was Rush's friend. I was sure her testimony would be shit.
She paid to dive but then while paying worked and monitored actual employees doing their job? This has got to be a joke.
In the end her testimony is interesting and truthful?
@@dianamincher6479 hahaha. did you watch daves testimony yesterday? she lying. obviously.
@@dianamincher6479 Renata, is that you?
She is obviously biased and pro OceanGate. Clearly not a trained professional and just because you scuba dive that doesn’t translate to qualifications on a submersible.
She was a friend of the Rush family and didn't want to soil their "reputation."
It doesn't sound like she provided any valuable information during this hearing. She said she was a Mission Specialist, in other words, a gopher, and has no knowledge of anything besides bragging she is a scuba diver.
I think her shame & embarrasment ( of being an "employee" that had to pay to be one )
wont allow her to yet see that she was scammed & used by Rush.
I think her want to feel important made her suceptable to fall for the (fake) idea that they were doing it like explorers did it.
Explorers used VERY well tested & designed materials & technology of their day. ( decades , hundreds of years of proven design & testing of boat shapes & materials. )
This was not that.
Mission specialist is basically the old style infants school milk monitor.
I was Ink Monitor 😊. We had inkwells in our wooden desktops, in those days.
Nobody free dives to 70M. She's supposed to be a tech diver? My ass.
I think she actually said more than 100M, but then again she doesn't know the metric vs imperial systems since the Andrea Doria is only 160 feet down not over 100M or 328ft
Mission Specialist? This is nuts.
What kind of bubblegum operation allows people to pay to be a ‘mission specialist’?
"i did not know why he took the controls"
Bro. A mission specialist, and you can't wrap your head around on why a subject matter expert might have needed to take control of the sub from Rush....
After all the testimony that expert gave on why he had to take control...
She's either lying through her teeth, or she is absolutely boneheaded and needs a mental health evaluation.
Miss, what you got sold was essentially an expensive, untested and dangerous Disney ride, because you fancied yourself an “explora”.
I guess maturity neither comes with money or age.
Her going as a "mission specialist" wouldnt feel so gross if she just had the humility to be frank and admit it was a glorified paid passenger position. Her legitimizing it so much means she has a really big ego and drank the kool-aid, or she's obfuscating the truth for more malicious reasons. Either way, really detestable.
Very disturbing testimony. Pseudo-engineer "yes man" (Nissen), surrounded by diver-accountant and diver-banker all seduced by professional con-man Rush.
Meanwhile, out in the shop, teenagers were working on the doomed sub. Disgusting.
It feels like Rush created a deluded bubble of people that thought they could play at highly skilled jobs. Cult-like I’d say. But it plays into the culture of today that everyone deserves a medal and everyone can be exceptional
@@karolinabaker7637 THATS exactly what he did. this is typical of people who want to do high cost work like commericial diving or sub operations but dont want to pay the high dollars in equipment, personnel and certifications. they surround them selves with inexperienced groupies who have no idea what danger surrounds them and how stupid what they are doing is. stockton isnt the first to do this and isnt going to be the last. sadly it happens a lot in the commericial diving world, just not offshore or on the scale that stockton rush did.
Truly.
yes, you just summed up todays "progressives"
apparently progressive today means be a self unrecognised narcissist, act passive aggresively, tell everyone your doing everything for selfless virtuous reasons while acting in the most selfish way possible. lie straight to your face. there you have progressiveism
It looks like she's trying to put Oceangate in a good light by withholding certain details. If she's asked about a certain dive she will not give such problematic details unless she's specifically asked about them.
bless her she really thinks she was a mission specialist and not just a conned client who paid a lot of money to do work she was inexperienced for 😂
Stockton played her, like a fiddle. It’s disgusting to use someone financially the way he did all of his ‘mission specialists’. People have a dream to explore, to be a part of something that has the potential to be a once in a lifetime adventure. I agree with you, he was a grifter to the nth degree. Classic narcissist, IMO. He used everyone and listened to no one. A very dangerous man.
Everything aside, her testimony speaks to the depravity of Stockton Rush as someone who took advantage of anyone and everyone to feed his ego and his perceived place in a community of real explorers, engineers, scientists…etc. IMO
Fake crying because she couldn't come up with a lie?!😂😂😂😂
Is her 'star struck' testimony believable enough? It's insane. Listen to Lochridge, talking with experience and expertise. Like he knows what he's talking about. Still under SR's spell, even after the tragedy. Sad sad lady.
Britannic sank in 1916 world war one , not world war 2
She had the “explorer mindset” hahaha
Mission Specialist.
Equipment manager would be more fitting, but even that sounds like an overstatement as I type it out.
The delusion feels strong, here. It’s like she’s romanticizing the experience vs expressing what actually happened.
This lady was/ is extremely gullible. Obviously under Stockton's spell- "These aren't the voids your looking for..."
Where did she get her money ?
The accident was planned at the design if not at the conception.
The work culture was extremely toxic.
Somebody is lying-alot.
Stockton ate his own dog food . His arrogance killed him and innocent people.
Supposedly used aviation best practices. Not even close (40 years as an aviation professional here).
Looks more like Soviet era design and safety practices.
He would no doubt be the most charismatic son of a bitch in every room he stepped into , they always are!!
So true. It's a truly bizarre situation when you have the former employees, with a couple of exceptions, answering questions honestly while the customers who were scammed are defending the company that scammed them. She seems like the perfect mark for a con man.
Also, "Stockton ate his own dog food" 😂
Bless her, I feel she was manipulated in so many ways. I hope she has learned plenty from her experiences and never falls for similar in the future.
In this matter where an entrepreneur COMPLETELY NEGLECTED SAFETY TO MAKE MONEY must NOT appear in any context at all!
Those in charge who knew and suspected the FAULTY CONSTRUCTION and did NOTHING to prevent this disaster.
There can be NO room for leniency but they must be imprisoned for a very long time so that other entrepreneurs who try to take the short cut to make a dollar by putting safety last are discouraged!
How many times did she grab stockton's wrench...
She definitely didn't grab David's, thats for sure
I don't think she knows anything. She's probably repeating what Stockton has told her. I don't think her testimony adds any value
I wonder if this woman has ever visited planet Earth before...
That’s classic. 😎
Once, but her visit was prolonged on account of a crashed UFO.
"Mission Specialist" LMAO 🤣
1:46:17
So her role in this mission... Was holding people's bags, life vests and hats...
No wonder she starts acting all emotional. She knows what she's saying is absolute BS. Not in the aspect that she's lying. But that she knows that those are not the jobs of any kind of "specialist." Let alone a mission specialist.
And now she needs to mask that BS with some emotions.
Crocodile tears.
I got nothing against pursuing a life long dream of pursuing a dream of going to the Titanic, but to thine own self be true, a mission specialist is a passenger with a fancy title to circumvent a regulation and nothing more
I understand that if your testimony could legally expose you the ok have a lawyer but she is just a witness ( and a very unreliable one ) isnt she ? Why the handler
From listening to her talk you can get a sense of just how much rush was able to influence and take advantage of these poor people. She seems to be hiding a lot
Mission specialist = is she for real ; she sounds like shes from church of scientology.
Basically they were paying customers and she worked for free
She's the ideal type of person cult leaders prey on.
When I see or hear Stockton Rush, I have a knot like concrete in my belly. He was blazé and played God with the lives of others. His level of hubris was gigantic. Rest in Paradise the 4 innocents who perished. 🙏
These tour trips are not expeditions...bullshit bucket list shit. These folks are not explorers
Exactly. They've been sold the lie that "explorers" were just as dodgy & just giving it a go.
But explorers went on wooden boats , where the wood was shaped, cut & fitted by skilled workmen that knew how to work with it, & put together very precisely , and with boat designs that were SO well engineered & tested to float AND survive in heavy storms etc over decades, hundreds of years of testing.
They didn't just cheaply make a thing they imagined, then trust it in the most dangerous places, first go, ignoring what was known to be the safety perameters.
I believe Rush knew how to read people & speak to their particular motivations.
For this woman, preying on her want to be important etc.
To the well spoken, sacked sub pilot/engineer from yesterday, Rush appealed to his want to help bring a new sub company with no experience, to being a safe concern, as he knew how to do.
( which way you choose to see it, either it backfired on him by getting him sacked, or a lucky break cos he's alive not working there )
☮️🌏
That is partly why the Explorers Club lost its prestige - It opened its doors to anyone who wanted to pay the fee. So, it's predominantly rich bankers who have been on Mount Everest package tours. This woman fits the current membership profile exactly.

@@claudiaarjangi4914 It's sad, really. Leaving aside his "innovative hull" Stockton Rush wasn't discovering anything new or visiting uncharted waters. He was going to already well-established wreck sites. The whole OceanGate brand was an illusion, designed to flatter clients into thinking they are like astronauts going to mars or something
I do not find her credible at all.
I find it interesting that as "mission specialist" she can't explain a single thing adequately... not the safety protocols, not the "job description", not how anything in and on the sub works... It sounds like an overenthusiastic passenger... she says that everything is explained in detail, but she can't really provide any details... I just find it utterly confusing.
This woman was obviously under Rush’s spell. She comes off like a child. I don’t believe anything she says.
They paid all that money to view an ipad!. Something they could have done using a remote vehicle, from the comfort of a proper Ocean going ship.more money than sense!
And for some, that money bought their demise. Cults are like that.
Who in the space programme uses a "three strike rule"? Pretty sure one strike is enough on a spacecraft carrying humans. Not necessarily how it always has been (Apollo missions usually had at least one issue) but manned spaceflight absolutely doesn't share the risk appetite shown here.

I thought Stockton did all this in international waters so he couldn’t be prosecuted. So I don’t know whose jurisdiction this enquiry is under.
Yea she’s special alright
Sounds like she was hanging around hoping someone, perhaps the young man, would cancel, and she'd get his place on titan.
"Mission Specialist" is just shorthand for "rich person who will pay anything to sit with the cool kids at lunch".

Is it just me, or does this lady seem like she thinks she is on an even playing field when it comes to knowledge of submersibles. She knows she talking to the USCG and Navy and NTSB, right?
They are doing a great job of showing just how bad this whole operation was.
All we got from her is BS to absolve herself of responsibility for what was clearly an accident waiting to happen - which she should have known beforehand.
Absolve herself? She was a paying client. She also clearly stated she knew risks but took them anyway for her desire to explore the ocean, most importantly the Titanic

I wish Stockton Rush survives that tragedy so he can go to prison next to Diddy!
Either way his life would have imploded and he would have been confined to an cell the size of titan.

Let me wash SpaceX insude seats. Look, I am a mission specialist. Omfg.
In my eyes and mind, all those genes who contributed to it, etc., are criminals, they have the deaths of four people on their conscience, including a young gentleman of 19 years old, if you as a specialist or expert are convinced or have seen it yourself, this is not okay at all, will not report it to the government security services or police, etc. that is something that I do not understand because then this might have been avoided to all the deceased RIP and after all my deepest condolences except for Mr MONEY RUHS

Wow, doesn't sound too knowledgeable. She got to use a camera, so that made her a mission specialist, who had to pay. It make'th no sense. Yes, I know that isn't a real word, but it works.
She was so happy to see things like squids and other sea life. I am not a diver, but would assume people who dive often would see sea life. Or was it just that she was happy that others saw it. I am really not anti her, but sounds rather like a person who might believe in Santa. Or maybe a groupie.

That lady chose to go on a dive during Covid?!? Locked in a small space with other people? Like what is this lady's life? Like these people couldn't just wait until something like the global pandemic was over to go on an extreme undersea tour ride? To gawk at lobster pods?
The people that blame Stockton have it completely wrong. Yes, he was lacking in the engineering department..however, the paying passengers were all very CLEAR on the risks of it all. Im sick of everyone seeing only one side.
That's false. Did you even listen to the other witnesses and engineers testimonies thus far? If so, knowing now everything that you know, would you have got into the submersible? If you wouldn't, then you answered your self, because what was going to happen was already told them, it was just a matter of time. Stockton Rush took advantage and beguiled others to make money and fame in his selfish ambition. They trusted a con-man who over and over talked about how safe it was by breaking all the rules and he fired anyone that didn't go along with his plans. He lied constantly, even about collaborating with NASA. He didn't inform these "mission specialists" (ie: passengers) of the design flaws that were brought to his attention by David Lockeridge and others. Stockton would have never gotten anyone into that submersible if he told the truth, let alone billionaires. And those who did know about these fatal design flaws would not get into it, as stated.
No they were not? How could they have known Rush sacked David Lockridge for his concerns? Successful ceos would expect other ceos to operate to the same high standards or at the minimum, the bare legal standards. And as for the kid, obviously he couldn't have known.
The last thing to go through this Stockton's brain was his ass.
Passangers cannot be clear on the risks when the risks and their probabilities were massively understated to them.
They weighed up the odds and made their decisions based on lies.
