Kia Carens vs Seltos Family Feud II: Ride, Handling & Performance Compared

- The Kia Carens made quite the splash when it launched and paired with its sibling, the Seltos, makes perfect sense to be pitched together in a comparison. They are similar in cost, have the same drivetrains and are based on the same platform too. The Sletos also hasn’t visited this test and considering we rated it highly in the ‘handling’ department when we first experienced it, this was the perfect time to see if our feelings held true.
SUV vs reactionary vehicle, premium vs practical, it’s not likely that these two vehicles would come together on paper. But at a showroom, with them placed side by side and priced so close together, this just might help you pick the right combination for you.

Having moved from hatches and sedans to MPV’s since 2010, our family has now taken affinity towards it. They don’t seem to like sedans, suv, hatches any more. From 1st gen Innova, added Ertiga, traded Ertiga to BR-V, and now BR-V gone, Carens is making it’s way home.

Being a Seltos Owner I must say The suspension are really stiff.. Yes they do perform great at higher speeds wrt stability but it drives you mad at slower speeds.. Each bump have a loud THUD to it. So for people who prefer Calm and supple ride for city as well should go for CARENS
Same situation here. I searched for a solution for the bumpy ride and ended up here

I dont know why now a days people focus on gimic features on cars instead of handling, ride quality, practicality

That water spilling test makes no sense at all because the jug holder is the biggest variable factor. He won't be holding the jug identically in both cases ever. His body movement will eventually effect the test outcome irrespective of the suspension set up.

Good one 👍. I am still not convinced with the pricing of two cars. Both are on the same platform but Seltos is costlier. Is tuning of engine and suspension only reason MPV is cheaper than SUV?
Btw, if you love to drive on hills than go for Seltos as it offers more confidence in cornering at high speeds

Sir one thing i want to share that the platforms both cars are based on different-different platforms. Carens has K1 platform like sonet & grand i10 and seltos has K2 platform like creta & alcazar.
Sonet/Venue even I20 are all on K2

What I am not understanding since yesterday is that how all leading auto journalists, channels, everyone is quiet on the never ever heard before act of Kia India w.r.t price increase to the tune of 7% on certain models for existing bookings (mine was ~3000 in the overall sequence)
Either, everyone is scared going against Kia and jeopardizing their future deals with Kia OR Kia has somehow gotten the search results restricted on youtube, google etc.
Along with the act Kia has done, I am baffled by this aspect as well. Just shows very clearly that how "news" can be manipulated so easily and behind the scenes.

Guys just 1 suggestion, & this is not just for you but for all auto reviewers, please please stop taking very low video angles. It doesnt do justice to the actual looks of the car. Everybody sees the car from their normal eye level, & not lying on the road. 😅

@@yash6212 if you have a small family and you don't have any problems with bumps whenever you shift gears, then go for seltos. Whereas, Carens is more suitable for a larger family and it's smoother than Seltos when it comes to driving experience
