Hi FramesTM. Thanks for another informative video. I appreciate having an Indian perspective to add to those received from the US or Europe. I am looking forward to the Z5ii. Nikon definitely needed an attractive entry-level body competitive with the R8, A7iii, and A7C. They need a body to draw new professionals and serious enthusiast to Nikon’s system.
Hi Frames I'm European from New Zealand, and I am used to "tuning" into peoples accents and speaking style. So I think I can understand you quite well. I hope others do as well
Happy holidays FramesTM! Always love your topics and discussions… I grew up in a multilingual household and got a graduate degree in linguistics and your English speaking skills are vastly superior… some who have not travelled abroad or been in contact with many others outside their native country just can’t understand beyond their own dialect, but don’t worry about it. ❤
Your Indian English accent is not a problem and it is very clear and understandable. Yes, there are some people of India which has a deep and not understandable accent, but your not one of those people.
Currently building my kit with Z8, 180-600, 35 1.8, 24-120S, 28-400 and soon to add Tamron 28-75 2.8. I am looking to add 50mm 1.4 soon and so I am thinking about adding /z50ii as second camera for travel and event photography. The Z5 ii may be my second camera choice over the Z5ii.
I have a Z6ii and I cannot justifty the upgrade to a Z6iii due to my age and lack of photography taking. So I might consider getting a Z5ii instead, I do not need speed or function buttons, but I would miss the top screen. There is a big price gap between the Z5 and the Z6 styles
Merry Christmas Frames from Trinidad and Tobago, if Nikon drops the Z5II with those specs then I'm selling my present Z5 immediately. My only problem with the Z5 was the AF many times on a shoot in challenging situations the Z5 would refuse to do what I want it to do. Luckily I set it up to be easily overidden but it is still a pain, when I got the Zf it suddenly made my Z5 obsolete and I haven't touched it since, for weddings I have found myself changing lenses on the Zf than using the Z5. So if the people AF in low light and backlit situations is solved along with other little improvements like burst rate then I'm selling my present Z5. Oh it could just be my mind, while the Z5 has really good image quality I find that the image quality of the Zf is just a tad better ( probably my eyes), so if the Z5II matches the Zf I'm sold. I like the tilt. screen over the flip out screen so for me the tilt screen is better.
Hi Frames. I think, and I wish that every new mirrorless camera should had one of those screens that some of the sony's have that tilts and flips out. There should be no technical reason why not Just one of cost and reliability. And buy and make the mechanism in bulk, after all its only a few bits of metal or carbon fibre!
Frames - does Nikon know how many wedding or event photographers have a z6ii or iii and want a Z5ii to go with it. or do they have a Z8 and want a Z6iii to go with it?
At this point, Sony is dominating that market. There’s like… 1 Z6ii/iii sold for every A7IV. But my guess is the Z5ii will match the A7IV is everything except for megapixels. And THAT will change the market
Actually that wouldn’t be a bad idea. Let’s see what they do here. But I do not expect bump in MP. Although I do think we will see a higher resolution Z7III in 2025 with Expeed 7/8.
Every one knows that Nikon has a tie up with Sony wrt Sensor sourcing. Hence to get a best price proposition from Sony, Nikon has to commit volumes. No wonder some model's of Nikon will be sharing the same 24.5 MP sensor and its expected that Nikon will sell large volumes of such model's at affordable prices....
Hi Frames! Nice video! I wonder if Nikon will really give the Z5II 4k60 with no crop? It seems to me that this is a differentiator between the Z6III and the Z5II. It seems likely to me that the Z5II will be, from a spec POV, the same as the Zf just in a modern Z6 'style' body, and for less money than the Zf - maybe 1500-1800 USD. If it is literally the same camera as the Zf but in a modern body with all the custom buttons and grip etc, but for $1600 I think that this camera should sell like hot cakes. That would be such a great value and also would not cannibalize (at least not badly) the Z6III. My guess is that they will stick with 2 SD card slots UHS-II of course, but with the exception of the two full sized cards and the body differences, I would expect this to be the Zf in all other ways - which sadly but reasonably includes 4k60 with a 1.5 times crop. But we will see? Keep up the great work! -PD
@@FramesTM Hi Frames - you could be right and yes that would be better - I just wonder if they will really change much of anything from the Zf as all that R&D is done and paid for and at the price point that the Z5II should be at the Zf features are still very good. But, hopefully you are right! Either way, it should be a great camera if priced competitively with the Canon R8.
Nikon could put the innards of the ZF in a z5 body and I’d buy it and be happy. And realistically speaking that’s all they need to do. It doesn’t compete with the z6iii but would have major value at a lower price point.
If Nikon would only know andt take the risk of how the Z5ii may potentially be a hit: RANGEFINDER-esque weather resistant body with sufficient AF performance. That's it. IBIS, Current Video features, Higher resolution LCD (Actually they can just do away with it), etc. CAN all be added bonuses.
If Nikon didn’t know how to take risk, they wouldn’t launch the Z8 with same everything as Z9. They wouldn’t launch a Noct, a Plena, a ZFC and a Zf and the audacious mid range 1.4 non S lens. Nikon is the most innovative of them all, if one understands the broader story.
@FramesTM I've got no problem with how they innovate through their SLR-esque bodies. And I've no intention on offending Nikon loyal users. This goes for all camera companies who gives me the impression that they wouldn't take risk in revising camera bodies to make it look like the film eras currently specifically the rangefinder design (Nikon's ZF is highly commendable). I shouldn't mention Fuji as they paved the way. So, at least Sony attempted on their A7 series. Panasonic had them through their GX series so I'm totally flabbergasted as to why they didn't release a new model patterned with it? Look at their G9 now where it's heavily discounted because no one's buying. Their S9? To me, it's kind of a missed opportunity-no viewfinder and weather resistance. How about Olympus' PEN-F? Why not revive it? And before I forget, Nikon's Z30-again why no viewfinder and weather resistance. That's what I meant. To take the risk of shelling out resources for a rangefinder body and perhaps eventually turning their Z5 series to cater to such a community with viewfinder, weather resistance, not much video features (crippling the cam to lower the price hopefully). If they do so, highly likely many Fuji users will jump ship to it. Ala Nikon S3 is what they should seriously consider on their production line.
Thx you for the informed guesses. Don't you expect that a Z5 ii should do everything and more than the Z50 ii ? Not only have a FF sensor. Of course Nikon has to maintain a substantial difference with the Z6iii, If indeed the Z5 ii is foreseen in the USD 1500.- range. I imagine that many people expect an APSC flagship for that price.
The Z5II will be miles ahead of anything FF at that price. IBIS DUAL CARDS GREAT AF WELL BUILT FULL SIZED BODY CLASS LEADING DYNAMIC RANGE 10bit VIDEO It’s enough to show value
🗣️I’ve waited all this time, I guess I’ll be waiting a little longer and will be waiting for the next generation of Nikon cameras. Z50 II and z5 II I won’t buy. I will be willing to wait for a pro APSC body. I will however get the Nikon Zf.
The z50 ii was a disappointment. No Ibis in 2024. For a £200 more you can get the XT 50, A6700 or even the Canon R8. The A7 C and the A7 3 are now less price than the z50 m2. The powerful X-M5 for £799. The canon R7 is clearly superior for not a lot more.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, and yes, Nikon needed to catch up in that space

Thank you friend
Only upgrade it needs is a bsi sensor. And maybe frame rate up to 7-8 fps

Why the weird lines in your video when you move vertically? Did you shoot interlaced video?

The Zf images are genuinely better. And, the Zf is fantastic with Af in complex scenes.

Merry Christmas! I'm all set with 6iii and 8, but I'm looking forward to the 35mm 1.2 unicorn! 😁
They should make the form factor like a a7c rangefinder type camera 🫶
Ahh true but I Don’t think they’ll do that

Nikon should consider increasing their camera resolution..there are so many 24mp cameras

I think it will be more like a 1.2x crop on 4k60, it’s a possibility

Really hoping for a Z30 ii. With a new sensor. But not holding my breath.
English is not my mother tongue but I understand your English quite well!
Thank you 🙏 🤟🏽
Z50II features with a full frame non-BSI sensor, $1500 price point, that's my hunch.
Superb
Thank you!
