For me in terms of Luigi's Mansion, darkness was danger, brightness was UNBEARABLE PARANOIA. As a kid I could not stop thinking that the bright, safe rooms with *no ambience at all* except for Luigi's whistling held a dangerous nightmare inducing monster that would pop up if I stayed in them long enough... at least the dark areas had music playing... So in a matter of speaking, darkness was my old friend and I always went back to speak with it again. ;_;

Great list. Especially your number 1. That whole bit on the relationship between the Mario bros as a prelude into the moment itself was wonderful, and I agree whole-heartedly. There really is no one without the other, and as recent games have proven, there's no doubt that they really care about each other. And as someone who really enjoys character and story as much as gameplay, I too am immediately captivated by any Mario game that places emphasis on Mario and Luigi's relationship and they secure favorites in my book as well.
Ghoulileo? That was brilliant! Probably my favorite thing about Luigi's Mansion was collecting money. Call me greedy, but I got such satisfaction from collecting all the bills and coins and gold bars, and ESPECIALLY the rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds. Luigi celebrates whenever he picks one up, and I love them. I have a bit of a head-cannon for this game. It says that the boos created the mansion, but if so, who trapped them in one of the rooms? Plus, the portrait ghosts were released by the boos? And all of the portrait ghosts seem to have been real people. Maybe the mansion once existed where it actually is in the game, with all of the P. Ghosts living there when they were alive. When they died, the mansion fell into ruins. The boos just remade the mansion and freed the ghosts. Now that I think of it, maybe Mario managed to capture the boos when he went to the mansion before Luigi, but he was defeated by King Boo. This would explain why the boos are sealed off, and why King Boo took revenge on Mario. I don't remember if King Boo had any appearance before this game, so I'm not sure if he would have had any reason to dislike Mario.
My top 5: 5) Boo-lusus Just the pure shock factor of HOLY SHIT THAT'S A LOT OF BOOS.Get's a young me going. 4) That one room You know that storage room when you release the Boo's and shit hits the fan? Yeah. That one. 3) The Ending Logan sums it up really. 2) Getting the Star I love space. Now this was just insane. The transformation. The idea. That glowing walkway. Beautiful. 1) The Blackout I'm so surprised on where it ranked in this list. It made me stop playing the game for a while, because it scared the shit out of me. It's such an amazing and memorable moment. It was also scary as fucking shit.
+Ali Morrison That climax of the game as a whole was just epic. You are just like okay we have the key to a door on the balcony so let's go unlock it. Then the door unlocks, lightning hits the mansion, the lights go out, all the Toads flee, and the mansion is now overrun by countless hoardes of enemies. There is no safe haven now. Lit rooms always gave you a sense of security because aside from the occasional Boo it was free of enemies. Now no room is safe. Everywhere you go there are enemies lurking around the corner. The whole place is darkness in as such you are now at the mercy of the ghosts. They appear in swarms that can easily overwhelm and take you down. Then you turn the lights back on and breathe a sigh of relief...until you get to King Boo that is.
Seeing how much you like this game, have you played Luigis Mansion Dark Moon. I love how much emotion is expressed. You can read everything Luigi feels just by glancing at his face and subtle movements.

To be honest, I never even TOUCHED a copy of Dark Moon or the Original, but the videos that were about it that I watched told me a lot. I like the whole "exploring" thing in the games. The fact that the mansion is an entire level just makes it more exciting. For me, at least. You could die on the same level over and over again. Instead of making you ragequit like a little sissy or some 12 year old on roid rage, it *fills you with determination.*

The dark and I...have an interesting relationship to say the least. It's my favorite element, if my TH-cam name wasn't obvious enough, but whenever trekking through through the darkness, I always have the feeling of something coming out and grabbing me. I know it's not going to happen, but you still get the feeling. Not to mention, you think of scary things when you're in the darkness. Great list as always, by the way.

I remember first playing Luigi's Mansion. The feeling of my first exploring of this haunted house was absolutely incredible and even today, years after the game was released, it still holds a special place in my heart. The music - or rather, Luigi humming the music to encourage himself, the atmosphere, the often tricky ghost battles... All that made Luigi's Mansion unforgetable.

King Boo is my number 1 favourite Mario character with Petey Piranha at second, and I always cry tears of joy everytime I watch that ending, I feel the epicness and awesomeness of King Boo's battle, I even did some voice attempts at King Boo, and updated it, making it better effects, I might even keep improving on the ghostly effects and the way he says it, I'd say I'm the best voice but I'll let people decide that, and you being a fellow Luigi's Mansion fan and a fellow King Boo fan, I want you to listen to both version that I've made
I have a fun theory. To me, Bogmire represents 2 fears. Shad-Mire, or Bogmire's Shadow, represents Luigi's fear of His Despair of losing Mario catching up to him and getting the better of him. The Pink Bogmire, or Swag-Mire I regret nothing, represents King Boo's Fear of Being Sucked up by the Poltergust and trapped in a painting forever.
While it's obvious the bros love each other, there are moments where they're just asses. In the ending of Luigi's Mansion, Luigi's tears of joy could come from the relief that his brother's safe, but his laughter is at the misfortune of Mario being stuck in the ventilation lid. If he laughed and helped him out, it would be all relief, but he just stands there, points, and laughs.

Has anybody else noticed that in spite of you finding several of Mario's clothing articles around the mansion, he's not missing any of them when you do find him? His hat, for example; we find it in the laundry room, but when we find him in that painting, it's somehow back on his head!
The ending from the first game never leaves my eyes dry either, but I love the ending of dark moon as well. For some reason I cried a little when I saw dark moons ending too, just seeing everything you've worked towards finally fixed and at peace. And how luigi hangs the photo on the wall and goes to sleep with polterpup, just adorable. My other favourite thing that's kinda sad in games is ai no Uta from pikmin 2. The blackout scene was impossible for me as a kid, assuming I could even beat Boolossus to reach it...until I realized I didn't have to vacuum up all the ghosts in a room to leave.

+Link, Hero of Hyrule Personally I like the original more than Dark Moon only because Dark Moon has the missions. Aside from that, I love every aspect of Dark Moon.
To be honest, I never even TOUCHED a copy of Dark Moon or the Original, but the videos that were about it that I watched told me a lot.
I like the whole "exploring" thing in the games. The fact that the mansion is an entire level just makes it more exciting. For me, at least. You could die on the same level over and over again. Instead of making you ragequit like a little sissy or some 12 year old on roid rage, it *fills you with determination.*

You know a game is absolutely fantastic when you can remember every single moment of it. Luigi's Mansion will always be one of my favorites.

The dark and I...have an interesting relationship to say the least. It's my favorite element, if my TH-cam name wasn't obvious enough, but whenever trekking through through the darkness, I always have the feeling of something coming out and grabbing me. I know it's not going to happen, but you still get the feeling. Not to mention, you think of scary things when you're in the darkness.

Thats the way I feel about the ending and the reason I keep playing Luigi's Mansion. Seeing Luigi that happy is more than enough reason for multiple playthroughs. I remember first playing Luigi's Mansion. The feeling of my first exploring of this haunted house was absolutely incredible and even today, years after the game was released, it still holds a special place in my heart. The music - or rather, Luigi humming the music to encourage himself, the atmosphere, the often tricky ghost battles... All that made Luigi's Mansion unforgetable.
Also, THANK YOU for bringing up the movie "the sixth sense" when you mention making horror movies cool.

King Boo is my number 1 favourite Mario character with Petey Piranha at second, and I always cry tears of joy everytime I watch that ending, I feel the epicness and awesomeness of King Boo's battle, I even did some voice attempts at King Boo, and updated it, making it better effects, I might even keep improving on the ghostly effects and the way he says it, I'd say I'm the best voice but I'll let people decide that, and you being a fellow Luigi's Mansion fan and a fellow King Boo fan, I want you to listen to both version that I've made

I finally got this game to myself. It's about damn time. Even though 3DS remake is coming this year, I wanted to experience GCN version.
I have a fun theory. To me, Bogmire represents 2 fears. Shad-Mire, or Bogmire's Shadow, represents Luigi's fear of His Despair of losing Mario catching up to him and getting the better of him. The Pink Bogmire, or Swag-Mire I regret nothing, represents King Boo's Fear of Being Sucked up by the Poltergust and trapped in a painting forever.
While it's obvious the bros love each other, there are moments where they're just asses. In the ending of Luigi's Mansion, Luigi's tears of joy could come from the relief that his brother's safe, but his laughter is at the misfortune of Mario being stuck in the ventilation lid. If he laughed and helped him out, it would be all relief, but he just stands there, points, and laughs.

The ending from the first game never leaves my eyes dry either, but I love the ending of dark moon as well. For some reason I cried a little when I saw dark moons ending too, just seeing everything you've worked towards finally fixed and at peace. And how luigi hangs the photo on the wall and goes to sleep with polterpup, just adorable. My other favourite thing that's kinda sad in games is ai no Uta from pikmin 2. I'm very sensitive to little things like that. Thanks for reading! 😋
I love Luigi's Mansion. It was the first game I ever beat, and IS my favorite game...besides xenoblade chronicles. That's a different story.
