This is an incredible video. Suspicious Minds, for me, is like Bohemian Rhapsody. Angelina takes apart and reassembles the lyrics, the tempo, and the vibe of an iconic song. Every word of the lyrics is clear, and we understand the sadness in the lyrics in a way that Queen or Elvis never expressed. And you don’t need to compare Angelina’s take with the original because she has created a different song that doesn’t intend to compete with the original. And she pays clear respect to the original artists. Beautiful visually, musically, and vocally.

The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins - the preteen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette and the Piano Player is Rob Christie Director of the Republic Records Los Angeles Studio which is the record label that Angelina has been signed with since she was 14 years old. Her first US Album is expected to be released this year (2023) after she finishes High School.

Grew up, didn't she? That's her niece and her sister Juliette, part of her family of love. We are, I think, fortunate to have this family, and this very special lady, in our life. She is an amazing human being who happens to love to sing, and also happens to be amazingly good at it. I am drawn in by her voice, and the depth of the emotion behind the words. She has uploaded so many videos since you last reacted to her, and I am delighted that you have returned to her, as your reactions have always been worth watching. The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).
Trying to describe Angelina's voice, and trying to describe her affect on your heart and soul, I would imagine it would be light a formerly sightless person describing first sight. For many, many of us, it is difficult, if not impossible, to describe.
My thoughts on this performance. Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOUTube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻

Hello Petra! Glad to see you back doing an Angelina reaction. I see that those first few words she sang affected you the same way they did me my first time hearing it. 😊 Everything in this video was a tribute to Elvis's "Comeback Concert", from the black suit, red guitar he borrowed before going on stage, red jumpsuit that Rob Christie the piano player was wearing, to the hairstyle that was Priscilla's style in 1968. Others have said they think her 2 cousin's and her little sister were meant to show her in different stages growing up, and it may well be, but I have to wonder why she would do that when everything else is about Elvis and Priscilla. Anyway, this version was the first time I actually heard/felt the words of the song. Angelina has a way of doing that with everything she sings.
@AJfanboy1 I am one of those who do think it is about her growing up. I think Angelina uses her direct emotional connection to part of the song to carry her through the entire song. Of course, I may be totally off base, but I think that AJ shares and works through some of her own insecurities through many of her songs. When she was very young she declared (decided) she was going to be a superstar. That's a lot of pressure to put on yourself. Sometimes, you might feel that "we're caught in a trap. I can't back out ..." maybe because "7th heaven falls heavy on my shoulders..." . She's showing us that this "pressure" continues throughout her life. "I see myself in the mirror, I want to love the person looking back at me" (from 7th Heaven) or "Take it easy on me. I was just a child..." (from Take it Easy). We know she thinks it's difficult for others (especially her Shield), "Forgive me for all that I am" (from Shield), but I think that she's letting us know that it's "heavy" on her as well..".my dreams are slowly fading...". But she let's us know, as she does that "hope" will win out. Of course, she also pays homage to the original artist when it's not her song. Outwardly, she shows us her "winning" this battle with her own trepidations through her amazing live performances. Haha! All this could be hogwash,but it adds to her mystique and my love for her. Sorry for the ramble. More could be added, but you get MY poiint.

I believe I'm always a bit skeptical about making assumptions now, due to all the times I've been proven wrong in my life. 😉 Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll live long enough to where Angelina will address many of these thoughts and questions all of us Angels have about so many different aspects of her life. Until then I will just enjoy having the opportunity to enjoy her for as long as I'm able. 😊 In the meantime, I'm anxiously awaiting her new single and the album that will follow. But, I agree it's handy (and desirable) to have Angelina's family members in the video. Art is art, after all, and interpretation is most often left to the person experiencing it rather than the creator. Whatever the "meaning", this continues to be one of my favorite videos made by Angelina's team. I am more than excited for the single and album.

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 83 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. The original Sardis for the song with Mark James he wrote it and produced it and sung it but it was a commercial failure so they give to you they gave it to Elvis Presley. He took it to number one as last year Angelina is covering this she starts in the bridge in the middle and her voice is immaculate. Other is fantastic four4.1 million views already.
Her voice? You said it and attempted too. Depth is the word you wanted. Beautiful is the word you used and is the over arching definition. Most beautiful voice I ever heard, it's inappropriate really as well. Depth often comes to mind for me too. But you can't talk about that without her control, and using her breath and fry more than really anyone. She can seemingly apply however much breath or fry into her sound throughout her entire range and skillset as she see's fit. So in the end she has many beautiful voices, some she should wait like eight years for for my sake, and is a huge fan of finding ways to use dynamic changes. With her control and transitions it's all so smooth and elegant.

The other, of course, is Courtney Hadwin with a very different style. Both seem to be just beginning to hit a professional acceleration and have big fanbases. Courtney is 18 and just released her first fully produced originals co-written with veteran songwriter Kevin Bowe: Breakable, a cathartic ballad, and This Girl Don't Live Here, an upbeat sort of "coming out" piece. I loved the slower tempo (Elvis sang it faster). I also loved how she used the ending lyrics at the beginning of the song. It reminded me of a quote by T.S. Grew up, didn't she? That's her niece and her sister Juliette, part of her family of love. We are, I think, fortunate to have this family, and this very special lady, in our life. She is an amazing human being who happens to love to sing, and also happens to be amazingly good at it. I am drawn in by her voice, and the depth of the emotion behind the words. The most common thread you will hear is that she touches your heart, although I think it's a bit more physical than a 'touch'.

I have LOVED her ever since I first found an old video of her on the first takent show in Norway and I have been cheering her on since then.
Thank you for returning to Angelina. She has uploaded so many videos since you last reacted to her, and I am delighted that you have returned to her, as your reactions have always been worth watching.
The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).
"Fills my entire soul".........Spot on description of Angelina's voice. Your ears hear the music, but your soul feels and experiences it.
Trying to describe Angelina's voice, and trying to describe her affect on your heart and soul, I would imagine it would be light a formerly sightless person describing first sight. For many, many of us, it is difficult, if not impossible, to describe.
My thoughts on this performance.
Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes.
I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOUTube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani.
She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻

Hello Petra! Glad to see you back doing an Angelina reaction. I see that those first few words she sang affected you the same way they did me my first time hearing it. 😊 Everything in this video was a tribute to Elvis's "Comeback Concert", from the black suit, red guitar he borrowed before going on stage, red jumpsuit that Rob Christie the piano player was wearing, to the hairstyle that was Priscilla's style in 1968. Others have said they think her 2 cousin's and her little sister were meant to show her in different stages growing up, and it may well be, but I have to wonder why she would do that when everything else is about Elvis and Priscilla. Anyway, this version was the first time I actually heard/felt the words of the song. Angelina has a way of doing that with everything she sings.
@AJfanboy1 I am one of those who do think it is about her growing up. I think Angelina uses her direct emotional connection to part of the song to carry her through the entire song. Of course, I may be totally off base, but I think that AJ shares and works through some of her own insecurities through many of her songs. When she was very young she declared (decided) she was going to be a superstar. That's a lot of pressure to put on yourself. Sometimes, you might feel that "we're caught in a trap. I can't back out ..." maybe because "7th heaven falls heavy on my shoulders..." . She's showing us that this "pressure" continues throughout her life. "I see myself in the mirror, I want to love the person looking back at me" (from 7th Heaven) or "Take it easy on me. I was just a child..." (from Take it Easy). We know she thinks it's difficult for others (especially her Shield), "Forgive me for all that I am" (from Shield), but I think that she's letting us know that it's "heavy" on her as well..".my dreams are slowly fading...". But she let's us know, as she does that "hope" will win out. Of course, she also pays homage to the original artist when it's not her song. Outwardly, she shows us her "winning" this battle with her own trepidations through her amazing live performances.

I believe I'm always a bit skeptical about making assumptions now, due to all the times I've been proven wrong in my life. 😉 Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll live long enough to where Angelina will address many of these thoughts and questions all of us Angels have about so many different aspects of her life. Until then I will just enjoy having the opportunity to enjoy her for as long as I'm able. 😊 In the meantime, I'm anxiously awaiting her new single and the album that will follow. @keithserafy and AJfanboy, It starts to get more difficult to know Mery's input. Usually, the director has more (or all) say. But, I agree it's handy (and desirable) to have Angelina's family members in the video. Art is art, after all, and interpretation is most often left to the person experiencing it rather than the creator. Whatever the "meaning", this continues to be one of my favorite videos made by Angelina's team.

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 83 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

The original Sardis for the song with Mark James he wrote it and produced it and sung it but it was a commercial failure so they give to you they gave it to Elvis Presley. He took it to number one as last year Angelina is covering this she starts in the bridge in the middle and her voice is immaculate. Other is fantastic four4.1 million views already.
Her voice? You said it and attempted too. Depth is the word you wanted. Beautiful is the word you used and is the over arching definition. Most beautiful voice I ever heard, it's inappropriate really as well. Depth often comes to mind for me too. But you can't talk about that without her control, and using her breath and fry more than really anyone. She can seemingly apply however much breath or fry into her sound throughout her entire range and skillset as she see's fit. So in the end she has many beautiful voices, some she should wait like eight years for for my sake, and is a huge fan of finding ways to use dynamic changes. With her control and transitions it's all so smooth and elegant.

He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. Great Song, but what I liked was the mind game they played. Her walking in warring boots, clomping across the floor. Then she starts singing and they come around a couple chairs and then you can see she is singing barefoot.

The other, of course, is Courtney Hadwin with a very different style. Both seem to be just beginning to hit a professional acceleration and have big fanbases. Courtney is 18 and just released her first fully produced originals co-written with veteran songwriter Kevin Bowe: Breakable, a cathartic ballad, and This Girl Don't Live Here, an upbeat sort of "coming out" piece. I loved the slower tempo (Elvis sang it faster). I also loved how she used the ending lyrics at the beginning of the song. It reminded me of a quote by T.S.
