Great show as always. Keep the spirit guys! For an upcoming battle of 18s it would be grate if you could have some quite underrated whiskies like Speyburn 18 AnCnoc 18 Balblair 18 Fettercairn 18 Tomatin 18
That was good Spanish talk, it got me all hot and bothered, lol! Seriously great show today and love having Guy on the show. He is who I want to be when I grow up, lol! Cheers and thank you.
Cracking episode again good to see Guy again Ledaig 18 has to be the best value for money 18 out there can still get it for £80 - £85 for a terrific dram but i am a Ledaig head. Glendronach Glendronach .
Yet another great episode. I was excited about this one and I did a victorious fist pump when you all picked Bunna as your fav. Ian….. loved your back story on the Highland Park. Stevie… you’re sticking to what you can realistically afford and not letting that “Baron” shame or bully you :) lol
I'd be keen to see you compare the 18s from Arran, Balblair, Bruichladdich, Glenallachie, Loch Lomond, Springbank, Speyburn & Talisker. Maybe Glenmorangie and Deanston too.
Great show gents. Very curious about the Glendronach 18 as the 2019 Allardice I had was phenomenal. My favorite 18 of all time is the Ancnoc 18 so hope to see how you anoraks get on with it at your next battle of the 18s
more 18's for the next one....Springbank, Longrow , Ancnoc , Deanston, Ledaig, Glenallachie, Glen Scotia, Balblair, Talisker, Old Poultney, Glencadam, Arran, Bruichladdich, Tamdhu... that should probably be enough!
A nice a battle episode, got a nice 18 year old bunna "culag" to crack. Someone lost money selling it at action 😀. And summer (family) holiday to scotland booked. Looking forward to visit a few distillerys. Keep the episodes coming gents, really enjoying your content
At £360 for the 18 macallan thats a hard pass. Especially at 43%, it probably has added colour. Definitely chill filtered. So many quality drams out, it can be easily ignored. I get that with any high-end brand it carries weight. But lets not kid ourselves. Massive upcharge just on the name. If it was actual quality it wouldn't be cut down to 43% and filtered
The Macallan has absolutely no business being £350. The Thompson Bros put out a 28YO 1996 Ben Nevis for just less than that this year, superior liquid, 10 years older, higher ABV, more interesting to have on the shelf and talk about and pour for people. Signatory even put out a literal 18YO Macallan at cask strength that you can easily pick up still for just under £200. Ledaig and GlenAllachie for the next battle of the 18s.
Totally agree. I don't like how Jake has started talking about whisky fans. Saying people get angry because they can't afford it and calling people 'Cheap' when he was talking about the Glengoyne tea pot dram. Macallen is now making 15,000,000 litres a year so it is not rare. For the price of that i could be several other 18 year old whiskies that I know are going to beat it in value. So aye if someone want to buy a Macallen badge bottle because it makes them feel good, no bother. I'll have my Craigellachie 17 thanks.
@@IanBear1000want to try HP 30! There was one in person but it was 1000 before tax and it’s probably gone because of a 20%~ sale. That full fucking bottle looked gorgeous
Posh has a a cheeky 16 year old under the table! I think the average buyer will lean towards the core range at first, then indulge in an 18 or 21 yr, and afterwards use that as a springboard to the next being an indie or cask strength bottle
As a direct contrast to the Macallan 18 but at a lower price, I’d like to see Tamdhu 18. And speaking of under 100 quid for an 18 yo that’s still quite good, I’d like to see the Ledaig 18. And while we’re at it, you’re not quite yourselves unless you throw in the Springbank 18 too! Hey whatever just throw in Talisker 18 too!
Good stuff Gents! Enjoyed the episode with an 11 yr old cask strength PX Glentauchers 😉 Only the Bunna is anywhere close to affordable in the states at $145 but generally hard to find. For me most 18’s have lost their value proposition and the M is just literally stupid given whats inside.
Normally I agreed with Ian but I don't think that Macallan 18 should be bottled at 46%. Don't get me wrong, I believe the bottling would be much better but most ppl who buy Macallan want a "smoooooooth" experience... it's about the same story with JW Blue. So in the end it could easily be that they won't sell that much anymore.
The price of Macallan 18 is crazy. Plain and simple - just not value for money in my opinion. But I’ve been to the distillery and they’ve got to recoup the money somehow as that distillery is insanely cool but would have cost millions and millions. I don’t get offended by the price, I just don’t bother with it as it’s not worth the money

If you haven't yet, try out Ancnoc 18! Excellent stuff and it's relatively inexpensive! Cheers!
Definitely agree, it’s a cracking dram👌🥃
I have. It’s a great dram. 🥃
Just got myself an Arran 18 yesterday.
Yet to uncork it, but it’ll happen very soon.
Great vlog again 👍🏻
Great episode! Love how a wild Glendronach 16 from the 90's appears 😂
😂😂

I've only got one 18 in the stash as my whisky budget is pants but I'm happy to say it's a Bunna 18 and I'm glad to hear it won the day.
Loved this video !
Battle of 18s…
Glenallachie 18
Deanston 18
Ledaig 18
Bruichladdich 18
Glen Scotia 18
Cool episode once again gents. To me Bunnahabhain #1 for sure, GlenDronach straight next to it, and HP #3!
Cheers, waiting for the next one.

Jake as your into higher ABV's how about a battle of the 18's but indie bottles which invariably are higher strength !!
I've actually found the Bowmore 18 at a local store for $120. I've been tempted for awhile now.
Not sure about the HP rebrand. I thought the flecks were supposed to represent heather not peat though.

Ancnoc 18> MacAllan 18. Little surprised that Ledaig 18 didn’t make it into the episode, cracking dram and really well priced.

If this is part one of an ongoing battle of 18’s can you please label in Part 1 in the title?
My wife bought me a bottle of Macallan 18 for out anniversary. Good stuff, not my favorite 18 but it’s high quality.

Bunnah 18 for me is always quality and hasn't had me questioning value or quality of casks in play
Such a great Craic Gents. See you soon 🫵
Bunna 18 is great. But now its $300 in the USA
Other 18yo I'd like to see:
Talisker 18
Laphroaig 18 (old or new)
Springbank 18
Longrow 18
Glen Scotia 18
😁🥃👌
Let's gooooo :)
Great pod, but for the love of god, let one speak, its to much speaking above eachother
