It's a whole different world when it comes to winter, but it's certainly not without its own upsides. My family and I absolutely love it here, and that's all you can ask for. We can all use added perspective from time to time though. Most Americans probably have little understanding of some things that Aussies think is normal.
@AussieMax17 we have a tropic gold XB fairmont. The kids do help work on the car, yes. Look at the end of the day, $100 isn't going to make or break me. And if it also means that my kids learn to give to others expecting nothing in return....then I'm fine with that.

This rig definitely deserver some paint and a new interior. C4's don't get enough love and respect for the wonderful cars they are. It deserves a new lease on life!
Plow driver here... thanks for the love Derek!!! More times than not everyone's anger for the situation gets directed at us.. So we take all the love we can get!
I drove taxi for a bunch of years. I came across a plow driver broke down and stopped to make sure he was okay before I went the rest of the way home that night. It was cold and snowing like you would not believe, he had no power to his rig as in lights and such. His heat did work at least and he had cell service so he was going to be fine. People do not realize the dangers of doing what you guys do.
Im a mechanic for a DOT and have about 40 guys that drive plow trucks and trust me they are very underappreciated. They work long hours when no one else wants to go to work and all they hear is complaints about the roads or which roads they haven't got plowed fast enough, let alone if they have breakdowns that I have to fix that slows them down more. They love when someone shows them a little appreciation.
@Derek. That car got you through crazy weather, and didn't break down once. That deserves recognition, she deserves to be a doll. What a great reliable automobile.
Currently dealing with a heart problem doctors are trying to figure out what the issue is. What gets me through the days is family and videos like this. Thank you Derek for all that you do.
Those monuments are beautiful even if only from the outside. Silverlining to a bit of a letdown as this is the closest I’ll probably get to them. Thank you Derek for sharing
32:37 The difference between Derek saying thank you and “other” channels is this: Derek sends it from the bottom of his heart. Never floats, never flaunts, includes us all, his TH-cam family, in every adventure he encounters. I love this family and will forever be a faithful subscriber and extended family member. God bless you guys!
One of the few genuine youtubers still out there. And the crazy part is it's about to get worse, since the new breed raised on youtube is now focused on influencing for profit. I literally watched it all from the very beginning, from In-Q-tell's Life Log project turned Fakebook, to youtube that began shortly after. All of which stems from the domestic spying legislation post 9/11 that allowed sweeping behavior and information gathering, analysis, and capitalization.
The new 84 vette came out while I was in college. I finally got an 89 a few years ago. I drove it from Cleveland to Calgary and back trouble free. It the most comfortable road trip cars I’ve ever had.
Do it Derek! Let’s see a new paint job and interior work on the car. I understand it’s loaded in mileage but…. It’s not a moped up car…. It’s an Amazing American 🇺🇸 Kentucky machine. Love the snowy trip. I know it was a little rough for ya. I enjoyed the ride though and the view of the estate. Thanks and good luck 🍀
1985 - my best friend and I are 18. His dad buys him a brand new vette. The three of us go to Oklahoma City (from Enid, OK) to pick it up at the dealership. He and I are in that car, making memory after memory for many years. This video takes me back to those days. Thanks Derek for what you do and this time in particular, thanks for the nostalgia. My friend has since passed (died of cancer in '09 at far too young an age). I could recount sooooo many specifics for your audience, but those memories wouldn't mean much to your audience. Suffice it to say, your channel has a profound effect on those who partake. I am living proof that one man's travels can and does stir up strong, memory-based emotion for others. God speed brother Bieri, and to my best man, I'll see you soon enough, when my time is done...
Never had a vette but when you lose your best hombre, it really is just hard. I personally lost my boyo to opiates. It stings the heart and clouds the mind but I tell myself it's made me stronger. Definitely more careful. our car was a Corsica..
I was born in Enid OK in 86. I’d like to think I saw you and your buddy cruising around in that vette as a child. I’ve always loved vettes. Hope to have one some day.
If ever there was an award given for the most genuine, down to earth and humble human being in our generation you would win hands down. Derrick thank you for all you and your family has done to make the world a better place.
Awesome story. I had a 2005 Corvette I bought new and drove it to the tail of the dragon and over to Oregon. I put 82,000 miles on the car and we went to the Builtmore Hotel as well. It was nice seeing you drive a long distance trip without any major breakdowns. Those 85 Corvettes are very reliable and I had an 87 Corvette roadster. I would paint the car and restore the interior. The wheels look fine on the Corvette. I really enjoy your tours Derek and keep up the great work!
Unbelievable attitude Derek has. Imagine how much of a better place this country and the world would be if everyone had same the attitude and demeanor. Another great video for VGG, thanks Derek!
@ViceGripGarage I just read an article about 50's and 60s. Cars going down in value and 80s vehicles Being where the money is.... i didn't want to believe it. Then the guys next video drop was of an eighties corvette... Hope it's a 1off 🙏 🚗 👍🏼 🚘 👎 @vicegripgarage
Derek. I know you were bummed about not getting into the museum, but I can tell you from living in the Washington DC area the whole 32 years I've been alive (near Dulles airport), you got to see it in one of the most beautiful ways possible. With everything shut down, you got to see its beauty. No traffic, no crowds. Just the beauty. The snowstorm was a blessing in disguise. Had it been a normal day, it would have been chaotic.
Yeah, when the museums are open there are so many people around. It's no wonder they closed for the snow; the traffic alone would have cars piled up on the sidewalks and ambulances everywhere carting people away with broken bones.
I lived in Manassass and Fairfax in the early 70s, and luckily got to see it several times. I recently went back through there, and was blown away by how much it's built up. The woods I used to find Civil War memorabilia is now a beltway.
Agreed! Driving in and out of DC with no traffic is crazy!! Also, taking the classic American hotrod around the capital is just iconic. I grew up in suburban Maryland. I was lucky to visit the museums and monuments growing up. You could spend a month there and not see everything.
Oh man Derek, sorry the Smithsonian was closed when you got there. When my Dad was dying of cancer, one of his last wishes was to go to the Air and Space Museum. We gathered our funds and sent him to D.C. He spent a week reading every exhibit and died two months later. Yes, even us California folks have pride in our country and its accomplishments.
I'm rebuilding my dad's '84 that he picked up second hand in '87. It may not be worth much to others but it's worth enough to me to give it the love it needs.
Awesome, I'm working on an '84 myself. Always wanted one and picked it up from a real good feller. He was just having a hard time getting around to everything it needed.
Cars are more about the emotional value than the dollar value. I have a sedan when a coupe would be worth 5 times as much... don't care, that's what my parents bought for me when I was in high school (1998) and I love it. ❤ give it all the love it needs
I definitely relate to that. I have my dads 71 Mach 1 that I’ve worked up to running again and a close friends father in laws 66 mustang 6 cylinder that was the guys mothers car when he was young. Lots of sentimental value. I call them millennium falcon cars. “She doesn’t look like much but she’s got it where it counts.”
Derek, You have become an icon for the "regular people" of this country. And a wonderful role model, immortalized on video. Well done. Thank you from everyone.
Corvettes do not get enough credit for being the wonderful cars that they actually are. At their core, they're a simple and well built Chevrolet, just like any other.
This one didn't make it. If they're not maintained with obsessive attention they become turds pretty quick. That motor and trans would never make 300k without some rebuilding regardless of maintenance
@@sprezzatura8755diy friendly can be iffy, depending on what you have on the c4. Some of the more exotic things, like the adaptive shocks, sport seats, automatic climate control, and some other items can be maintenance nightmares if you try to keep them up. I will say that most of them are removable if your not a stock only person, such as the adaptive shocks. The zf6 trans in the c4s can also be a pain. It’s a good, strong transmission but not a lot of support for it.
Hope everything is OK brother I just saw you on the side of interstate 65 just south of Saturn Parkway I was in the big rig going the other way. I blew the horn and hit my Jake break. I was going to turn around I seen you and the bland national out therebut I saw somebody pull up. God bless you, brother we love you.
@@LoganHester-1489 not too lucky for a guy to be on the side of the road with his pride and joy. I keep tools with me. I would’ve done anything to help him, but I know Derek he has his Leatherman us. TH-cam car guys can pretty much fix anything with our thumbnail and a booger
I love the attitude when you found out about the museum. I've been to NY twice and tried to go to the Main Library and both times it was closed for various reasons. The people who told me at the door didn't make the decision so there is no reason to take it out on them! Just like the guys with the shovels, just doing their job. Blessings.
I grew up in rural Michigan driving rigs on snowy roads. On my 16th birthday the schools were all closed because of snow but I was determined to get my license THAT day. 'Passed with no problem!
Heck yeah, I too took my license test in the snow. They cancelled it the first time around (which they said they'd never done before) and the day they scheduled us to come back a couple weeks later it was snowing worse than the first day so they said screw it, lets do this. Actually made it easier, no traffic, and can't see the lines for the parallel parking. Basically "don't hit the snowbank and let's get back!".
Asheville native here. It was an honor to have you. Thank you for your support and thank you for your call for help for us. Ill be spending some money at the VGG shop very soon.
Awesome!! I have been driving C4 corvettes since highschool. I started out with a dog of a 84 vette and drove it 10 years before finding a nice 85 Z51 corvette. I rebuilt my cluster, new carpet, new leather seats. I just put new injectors in mine and it helped a lot.
Your positivity is truly inspiring, sir. Things take an unexpected turn, you roll with it and make the most of it. Thanks for reminding us to stop fretting the little things.
Absolutely! Helps me gather the courage to do repairs myself. Today I’m tacking driver side CV axle boot that is torn on my 07 tundra 4x4. Passenger side gave me a hard time last year
Thanks for the shoutout to the snowplow and maintenance crews working on the highways, been doing it for almost 13 years now and there’s so many people who just get plum ticked off when we’re trying to ploy/treat the roads. I’m actually starting to really like the c4s as they age
I never crowd y’all, and always give a friendly honk & wave to say, ‘Hey: thanks!’ because you can only work with what you’ve got-and there’s a good chance that driver has been plowing for multiple shifts.
As a Michiganer, and a Vette lover, my cheeks were clinched tight the whole trip You can feel it all up in your neck. That Corvette did really well in the snow. Great video - you're the best man.
40:48 This is some thing I appreciate about Darek. He’s in DC probably around the inauguration. Never brings up. Any of it refers to it as a parade. I appreciate that he makes room on his channel for everybody.
Completely agree! As an Independent who is really feeling alienated by people wearing red hats, I just want to get back to all Americans working and getting along together again.
Derick, you said thank you, now I have to say thank you to you and your family. I have enjoyed hours and hours of entertainment from your efforts and travels in cars and trucks that were always interesting and entertaining. You keep doing it the WAY you do it, because that is what really keeps real for most of us. Be well. Live long and prosper!
Derick, I maybe tune in for the cars and the journey, but I keep watching for the attitude. Nothing ever gets you beat down to irritated. Keep that, you're an extraordinary example in these times.
I drove my C-4 (1990) for 10 years and 130,000 miles , year round in Detroit weather. Takes some skill and patience in the snow…….you are skilled,so you’re good. One of my favorite ever car.
As a sixteen-year-old guy who began spinning wrenches full-time in Vancouver's Westend/downtown during the fall of 1985 and was obsessed with these new 'Vettes, you took me down memory lane yet again, Derek. You also made me feel very old. Thank you.
Derek, hope you enjoyed your brief trip through DC, where I’ve lived for over 20 years. You walked right through my old work ‘hood. You had bad luck with the weather, though - that was likely the most snow we’ll see all year, we get very little here. And that snow (and the butter cold that followed) shut things down for nearly a week. I appreciate what you’re doing for the folks in western NC, my home state. You’re a righteous dude.
As someone who has lived up in New Hampshire my whole life People just don't know how to properly drive in snow. Just got to take your time and have good tires. Derek just cruising along in the corvette passing people in the ditch.
I can't believe you drove threw all that snow with no chains . Plus you didn't have to do brakes. Your such a great person showing us all those beautiful places. Thank u
Every Friday night I get off work, down a couple of cold snacks, and sleep through most of a VGG video. Saturday morning I get up, drink some coffee, and actually watch the video.
I was so bummed for you when you found that the museums were closed :(. But then your attitude toward the situation was just amazing. You still enjoyed your time and made the best of it. I wish everyone could share your outlook on things Derek! You'll have to go back with the family. It's a great area and much of it is free. Glad you made it home safely in that car! Crazy times you have for sure.
Fully agree 100% on a bit of maintenance on this 'vette who knows maybe decide one day to keep it for his wife or kids and feel sorry did not do more on it when he can so they can enjoy it.. and BTW i'm from the other side of the ocean.. yeah nice folks out-there shout out from Europe !!! we gladly watch such cool channels like Derek's..
While I agree with the fix it approach these cars are some of he only vettes that don't hold their value. If you paint it you'll never get your money back out of it but you will have a nice and fun car on your hands.
Loved the video. As a young buck with a 65 Vette I was drafted into the US Army. I took the car to my first duty station at Ft McNair on the Potomac River in Washington, DC. I had to buy snow tires for the rear for the winter of 67/68 as you would face a big fine if you got stuck in the snow without the proper tires. It never snowed that winter. After a tour of beautiful South Vietnam I started a family and began owning Corvettes again as the kids got older. On three different occasions I did the fly and drive thing to buy C4 Corvettes. I was based near Grand Rapids, MI and drove back from Houston, Raleigh and Atlanta. Great adventures each time. The only problem I had was losing a windshield wiper in W Virginia with a 91 Vette. With the help of some duct tape and a new wiper from a Wal Mart I was able to make it home. If you need good used parts for that 85 you can trust Vette 2 Vette out of Streator, IL. He certifies any electronic parts from the Corvettes he dismantles and will give you great advice. By the way, the third brake light never came from the factory until 1986. The blue speaker covers on your dash are a result of sun fade. You can freshen them up with a rattle can and return them to the original color,
I live in the MD suburbs of DC. I was pulling a 16 hour shift plowing that day. I'm sorry DC didn't work out as you planned. It's important to note that most everything in DC is free. All the museums, the National Zoo, many of the tours... Love your channel. Cheers!
I have never commented on any TH-cam channel, but I appreciate watching you so much I figured I would leave one for you! I appreciate your work and your perspective on life and others! Your kindness and positivity are truly refreshing! I am sorry you did not see the Smithsonian, but I love the grace you showed about it being closed. I hope you can get back to the Smithsonian soon! God bless.
My best friend's dad (RIP) took us to the Biltmore when we were 11. The indoor swimming pool was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen in my life at that point. The rest of it smelled like my grandma's house, just bigger.
If I remember from the tour correctly, the lighting in that pool is on DC, not AC. Electricity was new technology at that point and the designers didn't totally understand it yet. That'll curl your hair....
Really appreciate what you went through to give us a glimpse of your tour and all the walking you did. Many of us would have drove right through stay out of the weather.
How does a fella not have more subscribers, he has me rolling with the Derekisms, the beautiful cars and showing us parts of America most people will never get to see. Thank you Derek. Would love to see you hit that 3 million mark.
White knuckling is what we Canucks live for. For those that dont know. When you grip the wheel that hard. The knuckles.. the do the white. Great driving Derek! Thats a terrifying vehicle for the interstate in snow. Props
I had a 2wd short bed, single cab truck in high-school and grew up out in the country in NE. Then got a 01 Bullitt after and watching you drive in this weather brought back some memories.

Used to live in Maryland now in North Cackalacky. Lived 45 minutes drive from Washington DC and have seen the all the museums. I never took it for granted and loved every second I could go downtown. Take the family there during “Cherry Blossom”. Absolutely beautiful. Crowded but amazing. Love you and your beautiful family.
Derek = insatiable curiosity, on things of history, countryside, culture. Which is one of the reasons I LOVE your channel! The Corvette. She is a keeper. Bring her back to lovely, not half way. She deserves it!
Wow, you were close to me! I have a soft spot for these Corvettes, as my first "expensive" car was a used '87. I went on to trade up for four different ones up to a '93. I'd love to be able to drive one again, just for the nostalgia. Wish I would have seen you driving around in this while you were here! 👍
This was a fun one! I have owned 5 corvettes. The C4 was my first. Its an awesome car! Got stuck in an ice/snow storm in my C6. It was amazing! I was surprised at how well it handled it. Keep up the good work and thanks!
It's Friday!! I'm in my favorite recliner chair with a warm blanket a salami sandwich a cold RC cola and enjoying me some Vice Grip Garage.. God Bless America!!!
Even as a South African, I know what DC means, I was taught that in primary school in Zambia way back in 1968. Wow! Driving in snowy conditions makes it all 1920s black and white movie style! We don't get snow except for on the mountain tops here in Cape Town, scary stuff!! Edit: I'll probably never get to USA, thanks Derek for showing us things we not only don't know about. but not many of us will ever see. In the wide world, we hear about these places and even see in movies and stuff, but your 1st person view is somehow more personal. Thank you so much, this is why I subscribed a long time ago. You are a great ambassador for your country!
My 89 S10 Blazer had a similar digital dash, but that one was much cooler...! I wound up changing that whole interior, but the dash was my main focus and changed it to a regular guage cluster because they were much less problematic...!
Oh Derek my heart broke for you bud when old mate at smiths said it was closed. Moving forward when faced with adversity, resilience is key. Keep spreading your message my guy.
Im so sorry you couldnt see the museum derek all that work to get there, now you just gotta plan to take a trip with the family and make it even more special. God bless you and yours
As a recurring viewer of your channel, I appreciate your determination to face challenges before, during, and sometimes even after. I also enjoy all the places you've taken us along the way, but I gotta say, the tour of the Biltmore Estate is truly mind-blowing. I currently reside about 20 minutes from the landmark, but have not gotten the chance to see it for myself, so for me, this episode is quite the treat. Great stuff! Rock on Derrick
At the 43min mark, Woodstock va. My mom used to take me and my brother into that 711 every morning before she dropped us off at the babysitter’s to go to school and before she would go to work. There was an old man who used to hangout there every morning who has since passed, he would buy me and my brother a donut and cut it in half for us to share. So neat to see you drive down 81 through my small home county. Love your videos
A guy really appreciates another guy showing off the country as much as you do. This guy might have a problem because when I saw rotisserie kitchen, I read rotisserie chicken…. Thanks for all you do Dereck and family!
i don't think people realize how hard that is to drive a corvette in snow. You did some unbelievable stuff in this video. I got caught from Cheyenne to Fort Collins in a 95 Vette. I had to get off the interstate, it felt like the semi trucks were going to blow me right off the road. Nice work!!!
I love you Derick. God bless you and your family. An excellent American man doing good and wholesome things. Finally got a snow day here in Summerville South Carolina after years, and had a bit of fun sliding around in my 97 Kia sephia while the roads were empty and icy with a few inches of snow. It's rare that we get any decent snow where I live so I definitely try to enjoy it when we get a good snow day. If you've ever been to Charleston South Carolina, I live in the nearby area in Summerville. Hopefully we all got to enjoy the winter weather. I would probably recommend keeping a tooth brush on hand and soaking the fouled up spark plugs in some brake cleaner for about 30 minutes to an hour in a pinch. The toothbrush has an obvious purpose after the spark plugs are soaked in brake cleaner. Okay, second comment here. : I absolutely love to see what you're doing with independence. I understand it needing the full rebuild after everything it's been through plus the shape that it was in when you got it. I personally think it probably should be retired from burnout competitions and drag races and be more of an intro/show car. Maybe do a couple of red and blue Smokey burnouts and donuts to make an introduction, but nothing more. Use other purpose built vehicles for the burnout competitions and drag races, as independence has earned it's place as the show starter rather than the participant. The independence will and American flag either stuck out the window or mounted on the rear. God bless you man.❤

They love when someone shows them a little appreciation.
HOW DO YOU GET TO WORK?
@Derek. That car got you through crazy weather, and didn't break down once. That deserves recognition, she deserves to be a doll. What a great reliable automobile.
Appreciate ya, she's a good one!
@ViceGripGarage thank you for the tour. I see america through your eyes as I remember visiting there as a kid.
Nice find. Surprised how little work you had to do to get her running for that ride back home in the snow.
Currently dealing with a heart problem doctors are trying to figure out what the issue is. What gets me through the days is family and videos like this. Thank you Derek for all that you do.
Glad to hear you're hanging in there! Wishing you the best!
Best of luck to you brother. I'm also finding out "The Golden Years" aren't all they're cracked up to be. 👍
Maybe you also need a new muffler. Best of luck

I have no idea why I enjoy this man's perspective so much but I do.
Calm, cool and collected. We need more of that.
He’s a freaking legend. No idea how but there it is.
Dude is American and can sure drive.
He’s also kind as we’ve seen.
He’s just plain straight out good people.
It's because Derek is the real deal, authentic dude (and Dad) we all didn't realize we needed...lol
Derek is a trip, and was the same even when he first started. I'm glad he made it, true success.

When I hear 40 year old Corvette, that's a couple generations newer than what I see in my mind. 😅
Yea it made me feel old and I’m younger than the car 😂😂
😂😂😂 Same
The new 84 vette came out while I was in college. I finally got an 89 a few years ago. I drove it from Cleveland to Calgary and back trouble free. It the most comfortable road trip cars I’ve ever had.
A guy is gonna turn 40 in a few months and I felt the same way 😂
Time is a scary thing.
The museum’s being closed was a sign that it needs to be a family trip. At least you got to see some pretty cool things from the outside.
I thought the same thing. Make the museum a family affair!
Can't agree more than that .
was my first thought its a sign you need to bring the little humans with
The museum's are closed because they don't want to clean up the mud and snow you track inside.
I'm in the UK and would like to see that video!!
Im the same age 57 and have had bad luck with cars . But have 1 million miles in 12 different American made cars including Saturn and Geo
Well said my condolences. Don’t rush the inevitable. We will all get there soon enough.
I was born in Enid OK in 86. I’d like to think I saw you and your buddy cruising around in that vette as a child. I’ve always loved vettes. Hope to have one some day.
Hey, I'm in Enid. Very cool
If ever there was an award given for the most genuine, down to earth and humble human being in our generation you would win hands down. Derrick thank you for all you and your family has done to make the world a better place.
Thank you for putting into words what has been on my heart from day one of watching VGG.
You Probably won’t see this, but thank you for your hard work and effort you and your family bring to us.
Thanks, man!
I'm sure he will, Derrick is a classy guy and I'm sure he will see it

I just read an article about 50's and 60s. Cars going down in value and 80s vehicles Being where the money is....
i didn't want to believe it. Then the guys next video drop was of an eighties corvette...

@vicegripgarage
Yeah, I agree, that was a really nice way to see it.
I went every year as a kid, on school field trips. It was cool to see in the 1970s
Agreed! Driving in and out of DC with no traffic is crazy!! Also, taking the classic American hotrod around the capital is just iconic. I grew up in suburban Maryland. I was lucky to visit the museums and monuments growing up. You could spend a month there and not see everything.
unbelievable-you made it in that car. what an experienced driver.
Light weight, two wheel drive, wide tires, good amount of horse power and torque, everything you want for safe winter driving
*Winter tires would be a good idea
Don't forget the open differential.
Thank you for this precious story. God bless you patriot.
Good job. Yeah, we're not all bad are we.
Watching VGG makes me feel like Red Green has just become a car guy and moved ahead a few decades. Good times, good vibes
Awesome comparison!! 👍
I'm sure Derek got his fill of Red Green growing up in Minot, ND.
If the ladies don't find you handsome at least they can find you handy.
Probably why I enjoy it so much I have the entire red green show on digital with their house
'Remember, I'm rootin' for ya and we're all in this together'
i drove my 84 in a snow storm last year and as long as you dont have to stop, you're golden!
And not just for folk in USA. Also here in U.K., most petrolheads know of Derek “Vicegrip Garage” Bieri!

Great cars, incredible value and DIY friendly.
The C4 Corvette has to be the best value sports car available. Not perfect but a whole lot of fun and DIY friendly.
The man, the myth, the legend! My Friday night is complete! Thanks as always for being awesome, Derek! God Bless!
You rock!
Hope everything is OK brother I just saw you on the side of interstate 65 just south of Saturn Parkway I was in the big rig going the other way. I blew the horn and hit my Jake break. Corvette in snow is always the best and most safest option
Better than a mustang I bet 😂😅
@ I think that would probably depend on pedestrian traffic
Said no one. Ever.
Yeah. It “bottles” the Mind!
I tried moving my mustang in the snow one time. It made it 2 feet in 5 inches of snow.
I love the attitude when you found out about the museum. I've been to NY twice and tried to go to the Main Library and both times it was closed for various reasons. The people who told me at the door didn't make the decision so there is no reason to take it out on them! Just like the guys with the shovels, just doing their job. Blessings.
No reck'n ruin. No demolition derby. All in to save this beauty. I love the C4 Corvette. in particular the 1985.
Derek - your attitude during this episode reminded me of the power of keeping your chin up and not complaining about trivial things. Thanks brother.
The fact that this was shot on Sunday, January 5, 2025, makes it even spicier. 👻 🌶️ (Smithsonian was closed on the 6th because of the snow.)
I mean, technically there is a parade :)

I had a 86 and then a 93. The 86 had many problems. The 93 was a great car and the build quality was so much better than the 86.
This vet may be a keeper with the care its had.

Thank you for saving independence. Us car folk understand how a vehicle can mean so much more than a pile of parts. Keep up the good work!
As someone who has lived up in New Hampshire my whole life People just don't know how to properly drive in snow. Just got to take your time and have good tires. Derek just cruising along in the corvette passing people in the ditch.
As a power ranger biker type this is the only car channel i watch, lots of car folk are snobs, but Derek is the real deal a gentleman.

Derek , we're glad you made it home safely in the old 40 year old Corvette. It looks like the old girl has got some good restoration project
Get her painted. Fit a nice interior. Do the maintenance. It looks so good maintenance wise.... The rig will hold its value after that.

@@MoreBollocks-ui2zs If you keep the car at least 5 years I am sure you will be able to make a profit.
I would love to see a modern version of the Independence Chevelle
You can freshen them up with a rattle can and return them to the original color,
The Biltmore is stunning! And your choice of music is about as perfect as it could have been. Nice work!! Thanks for bringing us along. 🙏💗

Many of us would have drove right through stay out of the weather.

i don't think people realize how hard that is to drive a corvette in snow. You did some unbelievable stuff in this video. I got caught from Cheyenne to Fort Collins in a 95 Vette. I had to get off the interstate, it felt like the semi trucks were going to blow me right off the road. Nice work!!!
Is it an open diff in the rear?
I absolutely love to see what you're doing with independence. God bless you man.❤
It's gonna be a great weekend. Derek on TH-cam, a beer in my hand, recliner set to max... I'm set.

i love drinking the few cans of bud on a Friday from Ireland watching an episode from this guy!!
Derek, You have become an icon for the "regular people" of this country. And a wonderful role model, immortalized in video. Well done. Thank you from all of us.
Well said, Hans.
22:33 - A guy recognizes the intersection of 10 and 41 in Cochranville when he sees it! Great to see when a feller comes up to our neck of the woods, great video!
Derek the blessing of going when its all closed is that now you have to go back and when you do take your family with you. Your boys will love it and they need to learn Americas history.
A guy was right in my neck of the woods on this one, that snow storm really did mess a lot up on the roads here.
Also you need to bring the family to DC in the summer, do the museums and go to the WW2 monument and the Vietnam wall. Its a humbling experience to see in person.
Best looking instrument cluster ever made
35:00 one can see the dome of the Capitol building behind Derek as he's walking. What a great shot. Thank You for all you do, Derek. Sorry you couldn't tour the Smithsonian, but the tour you gave us of the Biltmore was jawdropping. Your videogrphy skills are excellent. You could seriously make a living doing virtual tours, and see the world for free. We are lucky that you take us along for your ride.
