    That was a cover????????
    I thought it was the original and I've been playing this on keyboard since 1985 (months after the movie was released. Everything sounds identical.
    I'm going to tell you what I noticed as to why it's not the original. On Harold Faltmeyer's original track, on the beginning intro, the first 4 measures of the synth intro the synth patch is slightly softer in attack. A little more open. The 2nd 4 measures he makes the sound with more attack (such as you used throughout the whole song). If you listen to the original you will understand what I mean. That 2nd 4 measures the sound becomes more prominent and fuller. Almost making it sound doubled. :)
    No human being on this planet is more familiar with this song and the sounds than I am. Great job on recreating it for your own thrill and for us.

      WOOWWWW!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, JEFF!!!! It is really a great pleasure to receive compliments from you!! I am very happy that you listened to my cover in detail!! You are absolutely right, I understand exactly which detail you are referring to. In fact, I had noticed this difference and tried to make the 2nd 4 measures more "doubled" but in fact the difference is still barely noticeable. Also, in this version I forgot to insert three "clap" from minute 2:00 to minute 2:10 instead present in the original one. One day I would like to improve this track by changing the bass with one more similar to that of the original version (which I have not yet been able to nail perfectly) and making other improvements including this one you told me. Unfortunately, many people think that this is simply the original instead of a cover (degrading my work done on this track) and I am really pleased that musicians like you or great music fans (with a excellent ear) know how to understand the difference between original and cover, listening to this track in its details!! THANK YOU OF HEART MY FRIEND, FOR THIS AWESOME COMMENT :) :) :)

      @@KOSmusicovers You're welcome. Only freaks like you and I would notice those things. The bass in this song is incredible. You in fact nailed it. From my ear and how I know that synth patch, it's like spot on!!! I know he also uses that same bass patch for the warehouse scene when Adel and Jenny spot the coffee grounds 3/4 to the end of the movie. It's sounds like pretty much the same patch just altered and smoothed out. I think that track is called "warehouse"...I can't remember, but it's on TH-cam.

      @KOSmusicovers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      @@magickbeans From the comment you wrote, I can understand that you haven't read my channel description to understand the type of videos I make. My videos are not live performances (otherwise I would have written it in the title) but music videos of the tracks I created. Just like 98% of real artists do... they play and sing over their track created in the studio... nothing strange. Furthermore, a single person in order to play all the instruments on this track at the same time, should be an octopus :D (also because the marimba part must be played with two hands and the bass line requires pitch bend with the left hand).

    • @KOSmusicovers
      @KOSmusicovers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@aarbamlel It is always a great compliment for me when my tributes are exchanged for the originals, but by musician I know that my versions have many differences with the original versions and is why they are "just similar". If you put to direct comparison (even with Audacity) my track with the masterpiece of Harold Faltermeyer (th-cam.com/video/O7CaEWR_Kdk/w-d-xo.html), you can immediately notice the differences. The most obvious is undoubtedly the sound of the bass that I could not emulate perfectly (in the original version it is more metallic), as well as the snare drum and many other things (I have already written all this in the highlighted comment in response to Jeff Ryan Music). Oh yes, to recreate the most faithfully possible these classics listening to several times the various pieces of the track to be able to mentally break it down and understand how to be able to reconstruct it. It was not easy to make Axel Foley, but to be honest I had more difficulties with other tracks (always from Harold Faltermeyer) of which I had no information if not the tracks themselves listen. For example the 6 tracks of the soundtrack of "Tango & Cash": th-cam.com/video/1b6YhWctNXM/w-d-xo.html and the track ever released of the movie "Fletch": th-cam.com/video/8ahUFX1PMfo/w-d-xo.html
      They were difficult jobs, but they taught me a lot and allowed me to improve my way of creating sounds with synths.

    I was one of the sound designers and R&D engineers for Yamaha R&D in the 90s/00s and worked on the CS1x. That is stunning, and as a sound designer, I can offer no higher praise than to say it's one of the most perfect recreations of what, at the time was a multi hundred thousand $$$ studio/synth setup I have heard. Huge congratulations on taking, what is in effect, a souped up DB50XG engine and creating this (plus some plug ins I suspect)

      WOOWWW!!!!!! It is truly a huge pleasure and honor to receive such a special comment from you, Nick!!! I have had my CS1x since 1998 and over the years I have learned to use it and then recreated classics from the past in the last 5 years. I love this synth and I'm creating a little video series just on the CS1x th-cam.com/video/hvClPvoxags/w-d-xo.html Oh yes, as I wrote at the beginning of the video, I used the CS1x and some VSTs to recreate this Harold Faltermeyer classic!! I really like creating original music with this synth and recently I created a song inspired by 90s Eurodance practically entirely created with the CS1x th-cam.com/video/ns8PfTm5vuI/w-d-xo.html Thank you very much for your compliments and for writing to me :) :) :) A big greeting from a big Yamaha fan in Italy!!!

    What an incredible cover...I think even the creator of the song would have trouble believing its not his own original being played. Perfection beyond belief. Awesome work from KOSmusic. This is such an iconic piece of music, by the time this song was out, every time in the 80s when a child in school was presented with a piano, their first effort would be an attempt to bang out this the main solo melody of Axel F. Respect.

    Great job, but whats really interesting is the the TH-cam content ID thinks this is the "Starlight Orchestra" cover version which does not sound as close to the original as this version does !

      SUPER WOOWWW!!!!!!! It is truly an honor to read your AMAZING comment!!! I had never heard this version (I always listened to the original Harold Faltermeyer version). • @generalgrafx
      @generalgrafx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The “Starlight Orchestra” is in fact Ed Starink, a Dutch studio musician and producer who, in the late 80’s and early 90’s, commissioned by the Arcade Group, brewed some rather bland and shameless cover versions of various synthesizer hits. The cover versions contained variations, some minor, some major, different arrangements compared to the originals and sometimes were only excerpts. Apparently this was done so the covers could be classified as adaptations or new compositions, rather than copy’s and because it was easier than obtaining the rights for all the originals.
      As a teen I bought the first three editions of ”Synthesizer Greatest” on cassette and the fourth on cd, only to find out years later that these did not contain the originals. I felt betrayed and have never played them again since.

    • @KOSmusicovers
      @KOSmusicovers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@generalgrafx Very interesting!!! I didn't know these curiosities on this!! Thinking about it, a similar thing had happened to me with CDs of soundtracks that I purchased and later I discovered that they were covers of the original ones (more or less I was about 14 years old and the disappointment was the same)!!!

    • @GabrielAndroczky
      @GabrielAndroczky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@KOSmusicovers You should dispute their copyright claim because it TH-cam thinks this music is from the Starlight Orchestra, it means it is demonetized for you and makes money for them... which would suck :) Great cover by the way!!!

    • @testikuskitestdrivr6012
      @testikuskitestdrivr6012 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GabrielAndroczky It's fucking hilarious how mismanaged and downright crooked the whole copyright thing is in the digital world. I've uploaded like 3 selfmade music videos in to tube and one was copyright claimed by Universal records. My and my friends totally original music and video. That time it opened my eyes, the system is setupt, the game is rigged and it's far away from justice.
