Imagine designing a dragon just for it to say "Thank you for releasing me."
Such a shame they didn't extend their dialogue. Some designs were so cool to look at. Like the one with potion tube horns.

I'm really happy with the alterations to the dragons. They all used to be pretty much the same design. In the remaster, they're all quite different from each other.

My assumption is that all young dragons walk on all fours. Perhaps they dont have the muscles and balance to walk upright yet, like human babies

They went all out with these redesigns and it's fucking awesome. It makes the dragons actual characters, not just collectables. Shame some of them really have just a single line.
But in general, this is one of the best remakes I've ever seen. As close to the source material as possible while doing improved technical aspects. Well done, Toys for Bob.

Nicky Tembo The Twilight Harbor Enemy weapons aren’t an error, it was a creative choice to better fit Gnasty’s World that pours goo and lava into the ocean around the realm.

The animator(s) did an excellent job on the facial expressions and body language. They accentuate the dialogue so well and they made Spyro look absolutely adorable! Thanks for compiling and sharing all of these; that must have taken a while. All the best!

RoseOfTheNight4444 my older sister HATED, “Thank you for releasing me”, and just because of that I loved the line because her over the top hatred was hilarious to me. It actually saddened me that they added more instead of it being the annoying, repetitive, almost meme-ish phrase

I love the whole remake except that I wished the other dragons remain the same look YET in their new upgraded version too. I liked the dragons who used to walk in 4 legs the way they were, but in the postive way the rest of the dragons did look cuter in the remake.
As far as am aware the reason people are kicking a fuss is down to a lack of subtitles which for any deaf gamers isn't good but personally am loving it

Easily the most effort I’ve seen in developing a video game, let alone a remake, in a long time. I didn’t play much of Spyro as a kid, but seeing the massive overhauls in design that are unique to EVERY dragon is just mind blowing to me. Then when I realized the dragons were themed in relation to their hub world, I was just totally caught in amazement. THIS is how you put effort into a game, no matter the caliber. Plenty of present day devs need to take notes.

I like that most of the dragons in the remake first start off to fit their advice, dragons on gliding and flying typically have large wings, or those on mechanics, like the save dragon, have attire to fit their advice. Some are also built, typically the ones that boast of their strength are very big and with large upper torsos. Then later they just fit what their land basically has.

the creative department and animators definitely put love and care into every single dragon, just by looking at their design and body language, you immediately have a feel for their personality. such beautiful character design!

Sounds like some of the VA's reprised their roles for these dragons or the VA director got as close as they could. Which is also really cool.
As far as I can tell from IMDB, Michael Gough (voice of Gnasty Gnorc) is the only one of the original game's five (5) voice actors to make a return for the remaster. And he's only credited for Gnasty there, so I can't say whether he reprised any of the 14 dragons he originally voiced, or did any others.
Didn't Clancy brown voice like 4 of them in the original game? For the most part in the reignited version, it sounds like they tried to pick similar sounding voice actors for some, or just had an entirely different voice.
@@Era1113 Tom Kenny(who also voices Spongebob) also came back for the RI Trilogy. He voiced Spyro in the 2nd and 3rd games in the OG Trilogy, and voiced him in all 3 in the RI.

I didnt under stand why eldrid (the 37th dragon saved) was so bored and tired sounding in the original in the remake i realized what they were going for a very old and very wise dragon which is a very very nice touch
My sister knew where every dragon was, each of their names, what they looked like and what they said. I sort of knew what some of them would say because of how often she played all of the Spryo games.

Since we only saw male dragons when I was young I just thought all dragons were male, and male and male dragons could have kids together. So when I was young I basically thought that all the dragons were gay.

Maybe the reason Spyro has to refree some dragons is because they tried to fight Gnasty Gnorc and got resealed.
the last dragon of the game to free was already freed before....though this game dos'nt mention it but the original one did
One did mention that he would hate to be trapped in crystal again.
I wish Delbin explained that when he was freed the second time, but instead he sorta just ignored Spyro's question about whether he already freed him.

I only just now realized that it isn't only the first dragon in Gnasty;s world that is a repeat. ALL OF THEM are dragons you previously freed.
That must mean that while Spyro was freeing the dragons, the dragons that were freed weren't just sitting around uselessly - they were actually trying to fight Gnasty but lost, forcing a retreat after a few of them were turned back into statues (or, perhaps, it was only a band of dragons that attacked Gnasty, all of whom were turned into dragons a second time during the battle).

Beast Makers is a really beautiful home world in Reignited, it took me by surprise... And then all of the themed dragon voices were just the icing on the top

I'm really happy they did this for the first game, but why they didn't do this with all the egg dragons in the third game? I think they run out of time and didn't want to push back the release day even further.
there's twice as many eggs, I think designing each one individually would be an arduous task. Though it would've been nice for the boss eggs to at least get unique designs.

Even if most of them are the same lines just re-recorded, the attention to detail in how they say it gives a ton more character no matter how brief. Also it's great not hearing Spyro sound like an annoying brat.
Tom Kenny actually voiced Spyro in the og Ripto's Rage! and Year of the Dragon. Carlos Alazraqui who was Spyro in the original didn't come back, so Kenny reprised his role in all three games for the Reignited Trilogy
And thank goodness he did. Spyro was annoying in the first game of the original trillogy. I hated hearing him speak. Snot nosed little brat.

The only thing that really gets me in the new games are the frigging giant props several of the dragons carry. Like, it’s already an over the top item, now they’re trying to tell me that was with them while they were in crystal? WHERE?!?

The statues already don't fit most of the dragons' physiques; I think that was the reason for the artistic liberties, including the oversized belongings.
It's hard to tell if Brown did return to voice some dragons. If he did, then his voice has changed just enough during the past several years that we wouldn't recognize him when he's not doing his Mr. Krabs voice.
Halvor was one of my faves too because he was purple (my favorite color) and what I somewhat envisioned an older Spyro to look like

The clothing matches perfectly
I admit I was kind of lukewarm in the release leadup by the dragons they showcased (except Gavin-- I was always tickled by the teapot on his tail and his "Big and strong!" animation, he's wonderful) but once I saw the sheer scope of them in-game I was really blown away by how all-in they went. I saw some complaints at the time about the dragons being humanized by wearing clothing, and while there is definitely use of actual clothing pieces it's mostly the Artisans and gives them a very appropriate Renaissance-era vibe-- for a world of artists, it's perfect. Coupled with the personality in their animations and expressions and the dragon redesigns are by and large phenomenal-- they really have a feeling that, if Insomniac hadn't been constrained by the system, it's very much what they would have done.
(Given Toys for Bob seemed really keen on getting Insomniac's feedback on a lot of their designs, that's not a surprise.)
I love the dragons from the original game, too-- given the limitations of the original Playstation they actually had a lot of personality in them, as well. I know they use only a few different base models but they really eked out the feel of each realm-- you could tell the Artisans apart from the Peace Keepers apart from the Beast Makers and Magic Crafters and Dream Weavers. Toys for Bob took that and really went above and beyond the call of duty in recreating them. There's just so much respect for the original work, you really feel the love that went into development.
My only complaint is that the Peace Keepers don't have the same body type or semi-quadrupedal stance (or neat leopard spotting, although I saw the markings across some other dragon designs) of the originals. Peace Keepers were my favorite type of dragon as a child so it was a little disappointing to see the reimagining losing those particular aspects.... although the Peace Keepers still look fantastic. It's just such a joy to experience.

Mostly because when Spyro says “How bout we flame them and charge them, we are dragons after all!” Bubba just leaves with no their action. In my head I always just imagined him being like, “Alright well fuck you then, I don’t gotta deal with this shit-“
When I was playing the Reignited Trilogy and saw Bubba give his thumbs up for the first time, I had to pause my game, I was laughing so much.
I LOVE how they added that thumbs-up at the end. It makes the interaction so adorable!
I love all the new designs but I must admit I miss the occasional four legged dragon. Especially Gunnar. He's my favourite :) Kinda sad their all on two feet in the remake. Makes me question why Spyro is on all fours and not anyone else xD

All of these new dragons look amazing. The personality in their designs and animations make finding them all a lot more satisfying, especially with how diverse they are.
My favorite part of the remake of this game was that the dragons were all unique. I was more motivated to find and release them all because I wanted to see what they all looked like!

50:14, 50:39 - Yes, mates. That was indeed a "PaRappa The Rapper" reference which that game debut a year prior to the original Spyro The Dragon One release. PaRappa: December '96. Spyro: September '98. Spyro was voiced by Carlos Alazraqui for one and Tom Kenny for Two: Ripto's Rage, Three: Year of The Dragon and reprised his role in the entire remastered trilogy, whilst Parappa was, apart from the anime, portrayed by Dredd/Dread Foxx.
The concept art for this game must have been phenomenal

The redesigns for the dragons look perfect for a Spyro TV show like I can imagine Bubba being the kind of Dragon who doesn't know his own strength and one episode could have him travel to Artisans to learn how to be gentle, like learning to paint or working in the barista

Unpopular opinion probably but I actually prefer the original dragons. I didn’t think the needed clothes, hats and paintbrushes etc. I also prefer the voice acting in the original.
I loved that the original dragons had a distinct colour palette and size depending on what world they were from. That was kinda lost here. That being said, Spyro himself is flawless! So much expression and so so cute!

I wished they hadn't used thank you for releasing me so much in the world of dreams. One time would have been enough for old times sake. Instead I would have liked to hear for example : " Thank the stars. Spyro you saved me." or something lile that.

On one hand, I do really like how each dragon has been given a different model and have extra details added to them.
I can't help but feel some of the delivery of the lines didn't quite match the original's though. Particularly with Spyro himself. I don't know, I can't help but feel Tom Kenny is kinda forcing a bit of his performance a bit, compared to Spyro's VA in 1 who whose delivery sounds a bit more natural.
He still did a good job in 2 and 3's remakes, probably because he actually did Spyro in those games all those years ago.At that point, Spyro was slightly more mature and experienced, and I feel Tom Kenny portrayed that pretty well back then and now.
I just noticed that they made the reignited dragons sound much nicer to Spyro and Spyro as well...It always made me laugh when Enzo told Spyro to "fly over there and find out", but now he sounds more gentle. I love both versions!
