Why Arc'Teryx Will Fall Off

  • Arc'Teryx designs outdoor apparel and gear from their headquarters in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Through the early 2020's, Arc'Teryx has become one of the most hyped brands in fashion and streetwear. However, despite this meteoric rise, I do not believe Arc'Teryx will be able to sustain their position as one of fashion's most coveted logos. This video details how Arc'Teryx became a Power House and why I think they'll eventually fall.
Let me know in the comments your thoughts on this topic. I promise to respond to you within 24 hours.
    Thanks for watching!

Hypebeats will say it will hit a downfall, but this jacket was never meant to be bought by hypebeasts. Arcteryx has stated they will never cater their brand to fashion but will continue to focus on their core customers looking for function and reliability.

Looking at Arc'Teryx as a hypebeast mainstream fashion product is a great way to completely miss the point of why this brand exists or why any of their products are designed. Thankfully, Arc'Teryx doesn't care about bullshit hypebeast fashion hot takes.

Around town, the location of the branding in new Arc'teryx gear makes them very mugger friendly. Seriously, take this as a warning.
With branding on the chest, you can assess any potential danger quite easily. When the branding is on the side (arm) *and especially back* (as Arc'teryx added last year), you have no idea who has suddenly taken an interest in your expensive jacket and the assumed expensive phone and bulging wallet with cash and cards within it. You will never see them coming.
The next Arcteryx jacket I buy will be in black and I'll use a black marker to cover up the (side/back) branding or obscure it in some other way.

I never knew Arc’teryx was such an on trend brand with the younger generation. I bought a Beta LT last year met up with my brother and my niece who was 18. It was raining, so I had my Beta LT on and my niece instantly made a comment about the brand and photographed the embroidered logo and then proceeded to put it in social media….
I have to say, I was rather disappointed as I had bought the jacket because I do a lot of hiking and after my research, decided on getting this jacket as Arc’teryx were considered one of the best manufacturers of hardshells on the market. Not because I wanted to be wearing something that people wear primarily as a fashion statement.

Fall off Arc’teryx was never supposed to be a street wear brand it was always supposed be something that you buy one of and it works for the rest of you life. what I mean by that is they want to make a good qaulity jacket that will last not one that everybody wants to run out and buy they never intended for there brand to be a big trend

    • @Indigololz

I agree, that’s why I think they’ll “fall off”. The streetwear crowd is going to move on to something new, meanwhile Arc’Teryx will continue to do what they’ve always done (make high quality functional clothes). Falling off isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if you’re not a trend-driven brand.

I bought my first jacket several months ago and I’ve been an Arc’teryx fan ever since. Now, I own about 4 jackets by Arc’teryx. The quality is just magnificent. Arc’teryx as a street wear is just for people who want to get in and call themselves “adventurous”. People buying it because it’s “trendy wont really know how great and versatile it is. For people like me, who actually use it to go camping, hiking and trail running, know how great Arc’teryx is and I will keep buying.

The Arc’teryx fit is a big reason why so many non adventurers-urban types go for this brand. It looks great and the brand suggests you do stuff in the woods. The whole package weaves a narrative of “I have money, I’m fit and and I do stuff outdoors.” Now that they are making their jackets in China means you are paying way too much for the product as Chinese labor is extremely cheap and their healthcare is paid by the Chinese government. I own the Atom AR and absolutely love it…but that’s the end of the line for me.

Jackets, pants, shorts, toques, hats, shoes, shirts, and for me, everything must be either grey, black or dark blues and greens. The only reason I purchase Arc'teryx though is their quality. But, I have to say, as of late, that I am totally turned off of this Chinese CCP militant look with almost everything they are creating, really awful and uninspiring. I’d say it’s really hard for a particular style to remain relevant beyond that 3-5 year period (I.e. the Beta LT) - because fashion evolves so quickly. However, there are certain brands which are perennially trendy (Nike, Levi’s, Supreme etc) because they are monitoring and adapting to changing consumer preferences. I think Arc’Teryx has the right bones to stay on-trend if they wish - something like the Beta LT would just need the fit and some details to be updated to remain a fashion staple. They’re big enough now they could probably hire a more fashion-oriented design team to track trends like Nike or Levi’s, but the desire doesn’t seem to be there. Anyways, the brand will still make nice clothes, it just won’t be the fashion statement it is today.
