Saruman employed some strange sorcery on his Uruk-Hai attacking Helms Deep. They seemed to be able to jump up the Deeping Wall. It's the only explanation the rest of the Dunnish forces have for how that unit got to the top of the walls so fast. One moment they were at the bottom, and the next they were at the top. Fearsome sorcery indeed.
I really wish the AI had a sort of script that incited them to assault large armies in settlements, for the unique purpose of creating epic siege defense battles. They are bar none the best memories I have in Medieval 2 and Third age. The problem is that the AI rarely does so. Either they think their forces are inferior or they think they are superior, so they just lay siege and wait. Seeing that Rohan doomstack attack you at Helm's Deep? Would have been epic.
I can sympathise with Dunland's plight, there is no nation in Europe that hasn't historically suffered a horse-lord invasion, after all. But ultimately, as always, my heart belongs to the High Elves.
The battle of Helm's Deep, as the cowardly Rohiram once called it, was an utter disappointment. So little did they care for the fortress that they utterly abandoned what they claimed to be one of their greatest glories, the slaughter of our people eons ago. Now the keep that was abandoned once and for all shall serve it's ture masters, under the name of Freca's Bastion. After the slaying of the pitiful defenders. We set about now creating our foothold that will serve our final push into Rohan and finally we will repay the coward horse men, with all the kindness they showed up ling ago. Under the graces of the Wizard Sauman, Man, Orc, and Uruk now march as one. At ine time, this land could have been ruled peacefully by not the Rohirim or Dunladings. But a people made from both. But the evils of Rohan ran deep, the betrayals of our people can be forgiven only in blood. The borth of a mighty Dunlanding Empire is at hand.
Hello, my friend and hello Miss Izzy, so nice to have you in the episode once more! Congratulations for the excellent Hornburg battle, it was a very good victory. Right now, you start to gain the upper hand in the plains, which will prove your might and ability. After fighting the second Rohirric army, the road is actually open for now. Until the Rohirrim can muster more men, you can lead a two-prongued attack, the small one in Gineard and the main army in Edoras to kill Theoden. I also think that you should not stop there, but get Aldburg, Entwade, Onodrith and the two towns of the Wold, Rochburg and Tirith Anduin, thus ending the Rohirrim for good. This is your main purpose and it is of utter importance at this level. I'm pretty sure that Enedwaith will claim Gynd and for quite some time they will stay silent, if they are at war with Gondor. Thus, you have some time to kill Rohan effectively and then transfer your forces to the border with Enedwaith. I can see you marching till Calenhad before turning on Enedwaith, as Calenhad is a very good defensive point, where you can hold everything from entering the plains, that will then belong to you. I also feel that the Mootlord might also start to think that such a big realm like your might also be a problem for him, thus he might want to buy some time - and he might take the initiative to attack you, so you'll have the best possible excuse to kill him and get his lands... Your economy will start rising soon, thus continue to advance your infrastructure, so as to get those wonderful Wulfsguard units, that form the mainstay of your armies. Have a nice time, both of you.
Again not much to add to nikos' expansive analysis, save to remind you of the Rohan doomstack. I doubt you currently have the army to take that on, at least to do that and then manage to continue the conquest. But the situation might improve by the time you get to that point. Also hi to Miss Izzy!
Longtime viewer from America, and at 28:30 you discuss movie theater food prices. It's bad here too! Actually the cheapest thing you can get is at some movie theaters, there is a bar/lounge where you can get beer to take into the movie, and that is often nearly the same price as a soda! Do you guys have anything like that in Belgium? I've never been outside of the U.S. (Though I would very much like to)
Death has come to Rohan, borne upon the Crebain's wings. Revenge to be had as the line of Erol ends to sound of howling wolves and the cry of ravens. But what comes after, my lords? What do we do after the Horse-Tyrants of Rohan lie trampled in the dust? Some say to crush the fishmongers in the West, others say East to and across the Anduin to the Vine-lands of Dorwinion and even Rhun, other's still say south to bring death to the men of the White Tree. I offer another suggestion, North. To the fat lands of Bree and the Shire, rich and prosperous with the finest pipe-weed. It shall be a long march, but one well worth the reward. All that stands between this wealth and you my lords are the fading phantoms of Arnor and the vermin of goblin-kind. Today is a new age, let the foreign blood of Numenor be wiped from the world, let the old empires and remnants of greater peoples be scrouged from these lands. Now is our hour! An empire of Dunlending!
13:52 that's actually accidentally historically accurate. The death of King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden at the Battle of Lützen in 1632 comes to mind or any of the several occasions Alexander the Great should have died if he hadn't unlocked godmode (only for battles though). Ramses II at Kadesh also is something any Total War player experienced and Marshall Jean Lannes at Aspern is the general sitting back, that out of bloody nowhere gets killed by artillery.
Hello Izzy, there is one thing from your opening statement that got me thinking. Tolkien's inspiration for the Rohirrim was basically: what if the Anglo-Saxons had armoured cavalry? Then they could have won the battle.of Hastings against the Normans. (William's knights were a factor but not the single decisive they're usually presented as.) So, if the Rohirrim are inspired by the Anglo-Saxons, the Dunlandings are akin to the Romano-Britons. Therefore Wulf could be a Dunlanding King Arthur or at least Uther.
if rohan didnt have to contend with the easterlings and saving gondor every time they should have pushed in to dunland and enedwaith and assimilate the middlemen
I get this is a Dunland campaign but man, I can’t get in character enough to slander Helm. Man was a fucking Gigachad. Made some bad choices but he was epic.
I just had a feeling you were belgian, I'm Dutch but i also speak english in a very similar accent to yours but you still got that slight Flemish side of it
@@IzzyTotalWar thank you very much any recommendations for first faction to play through my thoughts are lothlorien Mirkwood Rohan Isengard or northern dunedain
@@philipbills7025for a first time player I'd recommend Isengard for an evil campaign and Lothlorien for a good campaign (maybe Dunedain if you're feeling confident). Best of luck and have fun!!

The siege has been blessed by the presence Queen of Dunland and her most adorable war hound! (not really, she's too cute to be a war hound 😅)
You should look up what chihuahuas were originally bred for.
A hunting dog apparently, though I don't see it 😅

Fair to say that the Dunlendings would be akin to the Britons in the early ages with similarities between Numenor and Rome!
