    That rest area at the beginning, I always thought that was the same place, where Forrest Gump was standing when some mud accidentally got splashed on a shirt he was holding & made that happy face on it too. But I was wrong. He wasn't in this area after all. Looks very similar to this place though. That's what I thought when I watched this movie. By the way, that scene was when he was running/jogging across the country.

    Thanks ted! there are a couple of longer ones... check out the recent stuff from Utah -- you might enjoy Route 12... i think that one runs about :30, it's an extraordinary road.

    Looks like this drive begins in the small town of Bakersfield or should I say near Bakersfield, There's not much there really. Nice drive.

    I've driven this stretch of road before except going west. It's pretty friggin boring.
