There was a guy on T4R.org that would go junkyard picking for these in Texas. I picked this one up from him while living near San Antonio. Overall, it cost me about $800 to get it, have it painted and blended, and rework the insert. One of my favorite mods 👍🍺
Really great and detailed video! Thanks a bunch for sharing. This exact same thing happened to me just this month. Seems like you left the repair for a couple months, is there any concern with dirt/moisture getting into the system?
Thanks for the compliment. Yes, it was about 4 months that it was open, but the AC pump was never turned on during that time (including the defrost, which turns the AC pump on). As long as you draw a vacuum on it that will get any residual moisture out of the system. I would think that such a small hole would not allow any dirt inside, but YMMV. Thanks for watching👍👍
Hi i have a 99 4runner too. I just did the evaporator core, ac dryer, compresser. Ac switch, expansion valve. Orings etc...do i still need to add pag oil to the dryer?
There's a magnetic clutch on the pulley to the AC pump. Does it engage when you press your AC button on the climate control panel? You should hear a pretty good click with the engine running.
Great video, it made me understand more about AC.
I'm thinking about fitting a whole AC system on my 1994 runner, do you think it would be possible?
Thanks🤟🍺 With enough time and money, anything is possible. I say DO IT 🤟🤟
If you got a spare 4runner in that color ill buy the hood!
