Going Hardcore Suspension! JRZ, RV6 and Whiteline for the FK8

  • This is one of those mods I've been dreaming about for so long. There is just something so alluring about having a 2 way adjustable suspension. What better company to do just that with than JRZ? The Ohlins were spectacular and I still highly recommend them for anyone looking for a great track/daily drivable setup. The JRZ RS Pro 2 way coupled with the RV6 front compliance mounts and Whiteline rear sway bar end links push this build into hardcore track machine. Comfort is much less of a concern, noise and vibrations are present. Do I care? Not at all. Will I still daily drive this beast? Absolutely. Why? #becauseracecar 😂

    Hey Micheal. Great content..Just a couple of suggestions on the JRZ setup. I have the RS pro 3 ways and if you lower the nitrogen pressure to 200 lbs that will help with the smaller bump complance on the freeway without sacrificing the track performace..Also is you can also put a VERY small amount of high pressure grease on the front strut shafts that would take care of the strut stiction..that sometimes sounds like a loose bolt in the front. Can't wait to see your take of the JRZ's on the track...

    • @LuisFlores-zz9gj

    Nice! So, having gone through all the amazing suspension modifications, and quality parts used, what percentage of the current performance does the stock suspension offer you? Example: 75%, 85%, 90%, etc. And therefore, is it worth it strictly from a value proposition perspective?

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Apollo Andratti value wise the stock suspension with Swift springs. A good rear sway bar and end links and either Whiteline ALK of RV6 Front compliance Mount will get you pretty to this setup with The JRZs. I’d say 85% or better. With Ohlins and everything above you’re closer to 95% there.
      At this level it really is diminishing returns but that’s true of any level of modding one you’re far enough down the rabbit hole 😅

    Obviously this changes how the vehicle performs. I'm just curious about how much of a difference it makes on how you adjust to driving the vehicle. Do you have to learn how to drive your car hard all over again? Or does this make it easier for you to drive your car hard? I find it challenging for myself to adapt with suspension changes after getting acclimated with a particular setup. As always, great video, great content, and very informative.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jaidee1 it will surely take some time to adjust. Took me 2 full track days and some street driving to get fully used to the Ohlins. I’d imagine similar with the JRZs

    Not trying to be a hater tho. But, honestly I think that you would’ve been able to get the FK8 TC with all the money you’ve spent on mods. Critics aside, your car looks pretty damn good, specially the front grill. If your financials allow you, keep doing what you’re doing. You’re helping a lot of people.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bori_taino The cost of the TC isn’t in just the mods but also in the setup and support that comes with it. If I spend the same money as what the TC costs then my car would trounce the TC on track but what you don’t get is the support, parts and team help. In fact a lot of the parts on my car can be found on the TC. 🙂

    • @bori_taino2240
      @bori_taino2240 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Baxi Media I do totally agree, keeping in mind you have a daily/track car that looks and perform pretty good. Again, I was not trying to be a hater, just giving you my thoughts. For what I’ve seen the TC is around $90k, and it is pretty much a track only. How easy is the front grill install? Did you had to mess with the bumper to make fit?

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bori_taino Absolutely... I’m not ready to turn this into a full blown Race car yet. For now I just want to be a daily driven track beast with full interior and baby seat tormenting much more expensive cars on track 🤣. The Js grill ? yes unfortunately like most aftermarket body pieces it took some massaging to fit right.

    When you had your onlins on how did you adjust the dampening in the rear? From my understanding you can’t access the top of the shock from the trunk. So would you have to remove the whole shock in order to adjust the dampening?
