Hiking above Westgate in Weardale County Durham.
Hiking in the Northeast of England.
Come join us as we set off on a hike above Westgate in Weardale. our trail leads us up the bridal way along Swinhopeburn until we reach the fell above Westgate. Then our journey takes us across fell admiring the stunning sceneries, as we headed in the direction of Weardale ski center. The views are breathtaking and the sounds of the Curlew and Lapwings are always a joy to hear. The walk isn't too difficult fairly moderate but boggy in places which was fun, we had some laughs along the way. Once we reached the road we continued on our way following the road back down to Westgate. this is a great walk we had a great few hours out and would highly recommend it to others.

Defo boggy lol but those views were amazing, such an underrated part of the world 'up the dale' and I loved those real moody clouds. That drone footage made it look like you were then only two people left alive in the world, so deserted up there but also so tranquil too. Lovely walk and nice to see you getting a rain free day too, cheers Alan
Hi Alan thanks for watching it really is as you say underrated. It's so beautiful we had a good day for getting out we were blessed. Yeah and that wasn't even the most boggy part, but we had a good laugh. All the years we have done that walk we have never seen a soul other than a farmer tending his sheep. That was a good one garry. Ah, just being out into the open space and or moor is an instant tonic - always love a lunch somewhere new on the hills. It feels so good - unfamiliar yet familiar ground as you refresh the self. Some grand views indeed and a bit of bog bashing. Well, nobody sank to their waster today. Good going. All the best. Mark
I completely agree Mark, it was just the tonic. We had an amazing time. Much was delicious and we couldn't have stopped at a better spot with an amazing view and curlews for company what more could we ask for. I really think it's something we need to do more often it was so uplifting. There was a few boggy spots some worse than others but great fun passing them, although I had a wet foot 😂😂😂.
