- Day 15 and the final day of the #PennineWay adventure for 2019. Byrness to Kirk Yetholm via the Cheviot hills along the border ridge between England and Scotland. I was treated to 'fantastic' weather and it made it a day to remember for the rest of my life. 28.5 miles, 1600 metres of ascent and 1 huge smile on my face. Thank you for following my journey, I appreciate it more than words can describe. Long live #TeamHobNob #HobNobHeads

Wow, having a stone path and GPS makes the walk very different from staggering through the mist using a compass , a map, and a wish and a prayer. I do think that having a couple of companions is always a good idea. You have done well overcoming a mental barrier and you are right that many people are having trouble going outside their front door these days and I can count myself as one of them.
Thanks for watching this series of videos Richard, I wish you all the best for 2024 and hope you get out there for an adventure soon.
A fantastic achievement and bringing daily enjoyment to #HobNobHeads worldwide for the past two weeks! Much respect too for the thousands raised for Mind!!
Many a hobnob shall be dunked today in thy honour Mr. Dean. And well done Lisa, she was clearly the winner.
You could see the elation increasing as you neared the end. A brilliant hike, perfectly narrated, and a pleasure to binge watch. Belated congratulations. Kudos.
It was one of the best days hiking I've ever done, A truly memorable end to a great trip. Life has changed a lot for me since then but I still look back on this trip with a real fondness
Two years to the day. FANTASTIC!
Thanks for watching all the videos Johnny, I really appreciate it. Looks like you did them all back to back so that must have been a marathon. I really enjoyed the Pennine Way, it was a life changing experience in many ways and something I look back on with great fondness. I hope to have another experience like that again soon. All the best, Dean
Stayed with Joyce and Colin on my last night of the Pennine Way, absolutely fantastic people and and a brilliant place to stay
Big congrats Dean on completing the Pennine Way, wonderful achievement. Great set of videos thumbs up to every one.
Thank you so much for taking us on your journey up the back bone of Britain, fantastic, thanks again Dean. All the best.
Thanks for watching Stephen, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Something I'll never forget and an adventure I'd been wanting to tick off for some time. All the best, Dean.
Congratulations Dean on making it the whole way 3 years ago. Only intended to watch the first part as we will be walking in the southern dales next week, but was hooked to the end. Your descent of The Cheviot reminds me of walking down Blencathra in the Lakes last year. So hard on the knees and then the sheer joy of walking on the level again! Great charity happy to support too.
Thanks for watching and donating Myles, I really appreciate it. The Pennine Way is such an amazing trail, I'm a little obsessed with it these days. Blencathra certainly has some steep descents 👍
Really enjoyed watching your journey. I walked the penine way nearly 40 yrs ago .I have to say many parts of it look like they have become more walker friendly and of course when I did it we didn't have mobile phones or sat nav. I followed the foot steps of Wainright with map and compass. We had to physically cross water courses without these wooden bridges I see now. But a huge well done to you for achieving this expedition it remains a hard task .Thank you for sharing it . I'm nearly 61 yrs old now and you gave me some happy memories.
People are still watching your Pennine Way walk videos, Dean! Thoroughly enjoyed your journey and am beginning viewing the rest of your library. I shall definitely be looking out for you and Lisa whenever I am hiking the Glorious Peak District. Fantastic, mate!
What the heck am I going to watch now I'm so pleased for you after the last time and all the donations wow ,so sit back put your feet up relax boy have you earned it massive massive thumbs up Dean many congratulations by by
Just got back from raising money for Mind at the North East Skinny Dip. Well done , young man. Not merely a fantastic achievement but a magnificent one. Stand tall, if you can stand tomorrow.
Thank you so much for posting this great series of videos, Dean. I did the southern half of the PW in the summer of 2005 in sections, south to north. My brother and I went as far as Bowes in a series of long weekend walks and we then returned to do Bowes to KY in one hit in May 2006. This wasn't enough for us, so we returned in Sept 2007 to do it properly, this time from north to south - 14 days' walking plus a rest day at Dufton youth hostel. We wild camped and used hostels and it is by far our favourite LD trail in the UK (we've also done the C2C, WH Way and Offa's Dyke).
Your videos brought back so many great (and not so great) memories and you capture not only the physical challenge but the logistical difficulties and, of course, the mental side of things.
I am now thinking of doing the PW again next year but, as I'm in my 60s, it'll be B&Bs rather than wild camping! Thanks again.
Thanks for watching Russell, it really was a fantastic trip and something I'll be able to remember vividly thanks to these videos. I'd love to do it again and possibly go north to south... Some day :-) All the best, Dean.
Dean, Claire and I have been following your videos for sometime now. Love your presentation style, music appreciation and passion for the great outdoors which we share. We watched your entire Pennine Way epic journey from start to finish last night. It was fabulous and we both really enjoyed it. 20 years ago, I walked the West Highland Way with 3 friends over 6 days via B&Bs. Despite significant pre adventure training, we all had various injuries at the end......even my eyebrows hurt !! As I recall, some parts of the walk were extremely hard yards; the Loch Lomond forest section for example just went on forever. So, to walk at least double the distance of the WHW as you did and as a solo walk for the most part was inspiring to the rest of us mere mortals. Also loved your recent Yosemite adventure. Your work is outstanding TH-cam entertainment. Take care and we look forward to your next adventure.
Flapjack Guy here Dean.
Congratulations on making it to the end. It was a fantastic effort by you not only to complete the walk, but to keep on top of editing and posting your videos.
Now you've done all this though, your fans are going to require more and more videos!
Congratulations and take it easy.
No words would describe this....well done Dean....🤯🤯🤯
Dean, nothing but admiration, your Lisa is a star. Think that the cause you chose along the way is great. I think a lot of people have mental issues and don't even realize. Walking is a great way to clear the mind and makes you feel better, you might not even know that its doing that and its hard to explain to others that walking can really make you feel better if your having a bad day. It's been amazing following your adventure and the mileage you've covered. Respect. I'm just recovering from a week in Cornwall, about 60 miles walked, mainly on coastal paths, but nothing in your league. I will add a small donation to your just giving page, as I feel it's for a great cause. Look forward to more of your adventures in the future. Steve
Amazing achievement Dean, one you will never forget. We plodded the extra 9 miles through Byrness, and stopped overnight in the Lamb Hill hut. A night to remember.
I've just watched all 15 episodes , one after the other today. Congratulations on every level Dean. A great trip and a worthy cause.
Hi Mike, thank you so much for watching. Also thank you for binge watching them too, that's quite an undertaking 👍😎 The Pennine Way was one of the great experiences of my life so far, I'm so happy it went the way it did and I look back on it all with great fondness. I would love to be setting off on the trail again today and reliving it, to meet the people, have the time to process thoughts in my mind. It was so valuable to me mentally and I'm really glad I decided to support the charity too. All the best, Dean
Thanks Dean I am 71 and have followed the full 15 days of the Pennines on the Elliptical machine since the lockdown.. Now on the next challenge
Brilliant job Dean in every way.I have loved following you every day of your walk it brought back many great memories of my own PW adventure. You certainly deserved your half pint.
Clive
Congrats Dean!! Murray and I are at Heathrow watching this now. So sad # TeamHobNob's is disbanding, but so happy we all made it. Glad you had the best weather for filming..we had the traditional low mist, rain and wind but it was beautiful just the same. Well done on the fundraising, bit more will be coming.
Good job Lisa you were there for Dean all the way 🙂
So glad I met you both and really enjoyed our walks and chats together, wishing you both a safe journey home. #TeamHobNob will live on in our hearts and minds :-) haha. Take care, All the best, Dean.
Well done Dean! And your supportive partner, friends, fellow hikers / walkers, route services & employer.
Dare I say ..FANTASTIC...massive well done Dean. Also, slightly bonkers..28 miles and 5K+ ascent on the last day !! If I ever do it , that last leg will be in two days for me.
Well done and thanks for showing this. Can't wait to tick this one off myself. Videos like these just help to make a walk a bit more easier to plan. And nice to see it sunny as I'll need to re-watch after I do it in the driving rain that I can almost guarantee will happen.
What a fantastic Achievement well done .you deserve all the credit and good will you can get. You will be missed now you have completed the walk. have to watch some thing else . Will donate and thankyou very much for entertaining us for the last 15 days ,its been wonderful. ive done the Yorkshire 3 peaks many moons ago and it was great to see it again .look forward to another adventure when you recover .
What a fabulous achievement Dean. I was up in the Scottish Borders while your daily updates would ping through on my phone. I didn't have the opportunity to catch up with them all until I returned home. Really enjoyed the whole adventure from start to finish - really inspirational. Top man and a top effort - well done. ATB - Paul
This is a monumental achievement Dean, well done ! You were so lucky with the weather and having Lisa as your "emotional support crew" and obviously the Hobnobs were essential (and will be accompanying me on all future walks). You managed to keep the narration interesting throughout also. My wife and I walked south from Border Hotel a few years ago and reached the refuge hut (the one you didn't go in) and we've also been there having walked from the Mounthooly Bunk-house in College Valley.,it's a truly wonderful area/wilderness. I will now explore your other videos as I've Subscribed to your TH-cam channel. I think you're a truly inspirational bloke.
Thanks for watching and for your kind words. This was one of my greatest experiences to date and a trip I look back on with a real fondness. My life has changed a lot since this trip but one thing remains the same.... HobNobs are the king of biscuits 🤣
@@DeanRead LEGEND !

What a Fantastic Achievement - Very Inspirational and a fantastic cause. Well Done Dean #teamhobknob
Epic walk and epic set of videos. well done. Never has half a pint been more earned
Thank you so much for taking me along with you on your epic journey (in every sense). Born in Derby, I know what it is to walk in the Peak and the Staffordshire Moorlands. I always had a desire to walk the Pennine Way but age and joints have crept up on me and I know I will never achieve this feat now, so many thanks for being my eyes and legs. So well done. Respect.
Thank you for watching Roy, so glad I could take people along with me for the adventure. The Pennine Way was a really great trip, I'm craving another asap. All the best, Dean
Loved this Dean...spent the last week and more watching....well done!
Thanks for watching Mike, the Pennine Way was one of the greatest experiences of my life. All the best, Dean.
@@DeanRead thanks for reply....really inspired me to look at doing a long distance walk....I do lots of day walks but never done anything beyond. Love your videos.
Hi Dean, just finished watching your Pennine Way odyssey and thoroughly enjoyed it.. thank you. I am now cooking up a plan to follow in your footsteps as soon as lockdown allows! You have been a truly inspirational.. top bloke. Best wishes from Derbyshire.
Excellent Tommy, fingers crossed we can return to normality again soon. If you need info about the distances, accommodation, maps and prices then I've included a link to a spreadsheet in the description of this video. All the best from a Derbyshire lad in South Yorkshire 😎👍
You did it! Well done Dean. Your videos of this mighty walk have given me great entertainment over the last few lockdown days. Fabulous achievement. Carry on making em. I'm off to make a donation to Mind...
Well done Dean, I'm nearly 12 months late watching but really enjoyed it .
Thanks for watching Roy, wishing I was doing the Pennine Way again at the moment. Perhaps north to south though :-)
@@DeanRead haha, yes go for it Dean. Think LDWAs bit much for me but after 10 year absence I returned to Peak District post lock down for something a bit more challenging than flattish walks in the midland countryside and managed half day walks up Kinder Scout and The Great Ridge . So the moral is definitely don't beat yourself up. Going to do The Roaches next. Maybe we we will pass on the trail one day Dean , selfie sticks and GoPros at the ready. Lol. Take care
Dean, you are a legend, thank you so much for taking us along with you. I will miss logging on each evening to follow your adventure. All the very best mate ........ regards, Garry
Just watched again your great pennine way hiking well done dean wishing you all the best 👍

Really enjoyed watching your adventure Dean in chunks of a couple of episodes an evening. Massive congratulations for your achievement and beating the 2013 demon and also doing something good to help us all mark it with you with the donation page.
Always an inspiration watching your videos....but will miss this series.
Roll on the next one!
Awesome achievements, both the walk and the fundraising, and you should feel very proud of yourself. Every one of the videos has been top class viewing, and now I need to find an equally good way to fill that time in my morning - not sure it is going to be possible. Thank you for sharing the experience
Wow! You've finished. Congratulations Dean. I loved the moorland scenery on that last leg.
What an inspiration you are Dean 👏 from Derbyshire myself and starting the pennine way this Saturday 11/6/22... well done buddy 👏 👍

Today is my birthday and your video was a great gift.
What a great video log. It has been fantastic following your journey. I think that you should have some 'Team Nobhob' t shirts made up to help fund your adventures. ATB, Phil
Haha that's not a bad idea, when I do my next walk #TeamHobNob will have to make a return. Thanks for watching Philip

Good job, Dean. we are from Canada, there is one trail called Bruce Trail in Ontario, Canada world-famous hike, which is over 900 km. Well Done.
Thanks for watching Arthur and Janice, it was a truly magnificent adventure and one that I'll never forget. Canada is definitely on my bucket list 👍
Massive congratulations on your achievement Dean! That's a hefty final day, the trusty Cicerone guide puts that at 28 miles and 1610m vert, so even as a stand-alone challenge day that's further than the Yorkshire 3 Peaks... Well done.
Fantastic, congratulations
I got busy after day 11 and have just caught up with the videos, I couldn’t of watched anyone else complete this huge challenge, your a top fella,
Thanks for sharing your whole journey
Thank you for your kind words and thanks for watching. It was a great trip
Well done !! Great walk....wish you the best
That`s some walk mate, I will put that on my bucket list for next year when I retire..Hope to say hello to you at the next G.N.B.C. Lisa is a star , once again thank you for motivating me to get off my arse and get out there !!!
Well done Dean! My wife (Christine) and I have so very much enjoyed your journey, having watched every minute. Thus we have completed the Pennine Way by proxy. As a form of penance, but also as a mark of our admiration, I will be heading over to the Just Giving page and making our humble offering. MIND is such a worthy charity, and I am proud to have been able to help them in the past. As we do live in "Chez Vegas", we hope to bump into you in a local hostelry! Thanks again for two weeks of education, visual beauty (not you!) and entertainment. I even forgive you for calling us "hobnobheads" :)
PS - Who was the guy you met on the video today (with the beard)? Does he VLOG?
Well done certainly blessed with the weather going across the Cheviots
Great achievement, well done. I have just watched all the videos over 3 days. I’ll be following in your footsteps soon.
Thanks for watching Gary, fingers crossed we can get back to some long distance walking again soon. I'd love to walk the PW again but perhaps north to south next time
Sharen and I enjoyed every minute of this. Even though I must admit I never want to hear the "f" word again, haha. Well done and we are just waiting for your next long walk.
Well done. Really great achievement both the walk and the fund raising.

Well done pal just watched all your Pennine way videos sat at home on lockdown 2020. 🍻
Well done mate and you did the extra bit fantastic weather as well. I ended up camping about 2km before The Cheviot had a fantastic sunset and sunrise. Videos to come next few days.
Well done Dean 👌👌👍👍
Well Done that last section looked tough..... Great achievement
Congratulations and well done Dean. Just watched all 15 installments. Inspirational stuff. I'm a Peak District wanderer myself and recognise many of the places in you're videos. I do a lot of walking and camping but usually on sites. This year I have managed to do 2 wild camps at Back Forest, Luds Church. Just one nighters. Managed to upload 2 really short vids on here. I want to get my own little channel going but I need better tech, equipment and knowhow. Thanks to you're great work. Cheers and all the best.
Well done Dean I really enjoyed the whole adventure having done it myself too. A great charity and my mother suffered terribly during her life, bless her. Like me you have a wonderfully understanding and helpfull wife. All the best. See you on the trail.
Oh nearly forgot I donated a tenner.
Well done and wonderful achievement. Inspiring series of vlogs and wonderfully narrated throughout. Enjoyed them all!
