Benjamin's brother, William, is my 5th great grandfather. It's my understanding that their father, David, was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

Many of the portraits of these early Kentuckians likely have a colorful history, but certainly you must at the very least know the names of some of the artists. It would be interesting to know more about the images of these characters and thejr creators.

That’s a great idea! I know Matthew Jouett painted a lot of famous politicians during his life and he was born in Mercer Co.

@@KentuckyHistoryChannel wow I’d love a little dive on Jouett. Name is familiar.

You refer to the Logan family as emigrating from Ireland. For clarity, do you mean Northern Ireland (Ulster Provinces)? Scots-Irish, to be specific. The Scots-Irish were Presbyterian, not Church of England. Saying they were from Ireland might lead some to think they were papist, even further afield. Not arguing with your most excellent history lessons here, just trying to better understand the narrative. I’d love to understand the context of Scots-Irish emigration and prevalence on the frontier.
