Sometimes, simple stories are the best! A plot doesn't have to be complex to reel you in! A well told story with well developed characters can be far more enjoyable than those attempting the profound! There's a depth to a simple story as well! If the characters are fleshed out and their plights and personalities relatable it's like meeting a good friend every time you open the cover, and for a little while at least, you can lose yourself in their world and forget the troubles of yours!

My absolute favorite comfort anime is Fairy Tail. It was one of the first ones I watched, and it catapulted me into by ensuing anime and manga obsession. Yes it gets a bad rep for fan service and “power of friendship”. But the power of friendship is literally the entire point of the series. Of course I know it isn’t perfect or the best writing ever. But I’ve watched it so many times, that I’ve written down my favorite episodes so I can go back and watch them easily any time I want. I own the manga too but the anime will always be special to me, despite its flaws.
Awww I totally get that! I got really into Fairy Tale during college actually it was a nice stress reliever so also holds a place for me too! I never finished it though 🤣😅 after the time skip I was kinda losing steam on it let me know if I should try to resume and finish the series idk how much longer there was, but overall I enjoyed it! My comfort watch is probably Digimon 🤣 my first anime I fell in love with and gives me all the nostalgia 💖
@ I love Digimon as well! As for Fairy Tail, if you decide to continue there’s a lot of great fights and development ahead. Maybe you can continue slowly, an episode here or there when you feel like it. Eventually you will get through everything, it is pretty long
Yeah, right there with you with your concerns for the near future. There are still tons of good people out there, though, and even good people can be fooled into acting against their own interests. I have to believe that there's enough decency out there that the pushback on any attempts to implement the policies of the incoming government, so rooted in fear, hate, prejudice, and a willfull disregard for anything even resembling empathy, will be massive enough to stop them in their tracks. That's almost certainly naive of me, but we have to have hope for a better tomorrow, especially when the building is burning down around us! It's hard to be optimistic, and there may be very difficult times ahead, but there has to be some hope even if we can't see it at the moment! I hope that these reads were able to provide some of the comfort you were/are seeking! A welcome distraction to keep the mind from doom spiraling out of control! Life marches forward inexorably, and rumination rarely does any good. Even if everything is not alright, hopefully it will still be ok!
Royal tutor was such an enjoyable read. Just read volume 17 of Shikimori but I still feel like it's very average, if I wasn't reading it from my library I would have dropped it already like I did Dinosaur sanctuary. Read all of sacrificial princess in one go from my library, another very enjoyable read, I was so pleased to get my hands on it when the anime was airing.

@MizzMangaChatz Yeah I considered picking it up but it's 17 volumes and I don't have the space especially with the plan to eventually get Yona (please release a boxset) and I started the anime of sacrificial princess but thought I'd just rather read the manga and then my library suddenly had gotten all the volumes in months after I'd asked them to so it was a nice surprise. I always like watching recommendation videos, you never know what you'll come across 😊

Dinosaur Sanctuary has also been a series I've been curious about. Up until this video I knew absolutely nothing about it, other than it had dinosaurs of course,🤣 but it would occasionally pop up in those, you liked ___ you might also like ___ things that show up when you're checking out an online order. I absolutely was a dinosaur stan growing up!😂 I remember taking classes at the learning annex at the local community college on dinosaurs back in elementary school and making my mom take me to hear a paleontologist give a lecture at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History when I was not much older!🤣 As I got older, that passion ebbed a bit and kinda transfered over to archeology, but I'll always find dinosaurs, and any of those mysterious creatures and societies lost to time fascinating!
Oooh then you might enjoy Dinosaur Sanctuary!! I wasn’t even that into Dinos as a kid though I’d get a book on them from time to time bc I thought they were neat, and love Jurassic Park (only the first one) but yeah this gives you an interesting look at dinosaurs in a zoo environment so it’s really unique and relaxing for the most part!
How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift is my number one comfort manga. There's nothing cozy about lifting weights but it's a silly manga that never fails to make me laugh! And you know what they say, laughter is the best medicine.

Royal Tutor as anime is sooooo soft and comedy is so good and they are so different ....and their names are all German inspired. . Try anime Campfire Cooking in Another World. Ir is light even with fights. And has lots of FOOD! I have re-watched it several times.
