45 Min Upper Body Workout / Dumbbells & Bodyweight | EPIC II - DAY 3

  • Let’s build the upper body strength!! Compound and isolation exercises with this upper body workout to majorly hit the chest, shoulders, back, triceps, and biceps!
    All you will need for this workout is a pair of dumbbells and a mat.
    The dumbbells I am using are 15kg each and 9kg each. Please note you can use one pair of dumbbells or multiple depending on what you have access too!
    The timer will be on throughout for 40 seconds of work, 20 seconds rest.
    We begin with the compound movements, all repeated 4, 3 or 2 sets and rotating between chest, shoulders and back. We then move to more isolation movements involving dumbbells and bodyweight to finish the shoulders and target the arms!
    As always, go at your own pace!
    Of course there is a finisher; regular push ups for 20 seconds, 20 seconds hold at bottom position followed by 20 seconds of push ups! This should be very challenging considering the workload we have done already!!

    With the rear delt flyes, try to slow the lowering portion.. it is difficult!

    First off, this community is so brilliant. I’m pretty sure that my comment will go ignored in the sea of compliments because I came here so late, but are 5lb dumbbells good enough for this routine. I’m so new to this weight stuff so I really don’t know. However, I do feel the burn

      I used a mix of 5 , 7, 10 and 1 15 lb kettlebell . You have to do what works for you and if all you have is 5s then do the 5s.

    So far, so many of you are smashing this workout! My arms are definitely finished for the day!! I just need to use my hands for writing tomorrow’s session! I am expecting now to use a pair of dumbbells between 8kg & 12.5 kg and you will need your mat of course! A mixture of whole body movements, many hybrid to really get your heart rate up throughout!!
    If you are yet to complete this upper body session, try to relax and really feel those targeted muscles working!!

      That was pure amazing! The formatting of this routine is just beautiful: how you moved from one muscle gp to the next. I am happy and strong thank you.
      At first with the shoulder presses I didn’t realize you made the swtuch with the lighter weights, so I kept going for the first set crying how I can’t lift up my arms! But once I realized I was using the wrong weights🙈, things went a lot smoother!
      Went up with the weights this time around and manged! Very pleased with my progress!

It was the perfect combination of repetition and variety, both challenging and motivating. I had such a great burn and sense of getting stronger.     Buzzing ..... Caroline did you write this one just for me 😁 it was awesome 👌. So I made the decision to go 22.5 kg for all the chest press and back work, 12.5kg for the shoulders and arms and 10kg for the lat raises. Went slow, with really good form with the above weight and was really pleased to make it through without dropping the weight. Tricep press to ladder was something else and the finisher what can I say ....many of you know I love a prushup but this one took every last drop to complete, the last 5 secs of the hold was torture and I was happy to get back into the last 20secs of pushups. Overall a fantasically satisfying workout and for all the guys who ask me is EPIC II going to work for me, have a go at this, and report back 👊👊👊 myself and a half a million other subscribers already are living the benefits. Caroline congratulations on the 500 000 you are awesome and we all agree 👍 😉😁😁😁😁😁

      @@matthewalmond4688 hey Matthew, getting the 22.5s of the floor and into the starting position was tough, thats almost two thirds my bodyweight. That hold was not going to beat me today Matthew even though the shakes were close. How does Caroline think of these, we will be ready for the next series of ninja warrior after this.       Hi Caroline...just finished! I don’t think I have ever done so many shoulder presses in a single workout before...and the burnout was a killer! You think 20 seconds is nothing but trying to hold the press up...then start moving again was almost impossible!! Great workout...really enjoyed it and my upper body feels great now! Matthew

    This week my rotator cuff decided it was going to make its presence felt. Talk about humbling my progress 😢. Sadly everything was scaled back to 3kg for over head and 6kg for back work. This was one of the most enjoyable upper body sessions ever, it’s definitely a favorite of mine now and one I can’t wait to do when my shoulder permits me too. Thanks Caroline for this, I’m two years late but ever so happy I found you.

    Yes I killed my arms. I'm concentrating on the exercises more in Epic II. Slowing down and doing more quality reps than focusing on quantity. Caroline you're the BEST.

    I wish I were right up there with the “to date” EPIC 2 sessions, but I don’t regret being behind and being safe with my health, having had to repeat an entire 2/3 of EPIC 1 to see myself back from an illness. I love the hype and excitement of being part of something that is happening “right now” - however, this is valuable for me, to know that I can drive myself to do this on my own - and your lovely workouts still make me feel like you are reaching out to each of us as individuals. I truly hope that you know how much you inspire, change lives in such a positive way, Caroline.     When I started this workout 45 min ago the view-number was on 20 300, and when I reloaded to check afterward, it said 23 130. In other words - I literally worked out live with 3000 people. That just gives even more motivation;)) Thanks so much Caroline for today, see ya tomorrooow

    I have been really enjoying all of your workouts. I am 71 and have lifted weights for 30 plus years. Took some Covid time off, and have been back at it for the last 4 months. Finally get back to where I was about 6 months ago. You are so beautiful and strong which keeps me motivated. So thank you so very much for these workout videos.

    After getting my butt kicked yesterday on the leg workout, I was sort of dreading this, but I felt really good afterwards. Almost loose! This is the best arm workout I've ever done. I am going to bookmark this so when I'm done with the series, I can go back to it on days I want to focus on my arms. Well done!

    Absolutely loved this workout!! Loved going down the ladder in sets but loved the repeat sets at the top of the ladder. Challenging and hit everything. My arms are toast. The burnouts at the end are even more Epic than before! Another top notch workout. Day 3 ✅!

    I loved this so much! Arms are always fun. But I could really feel them working hard and getting tired, I even had to go down in weights during some reps, but i didn’t mind......my arms still felt like they were getting a solid workout.     Just did this and yes my arm's are definitely feeling it. Caroline is definitely not playing on this but it was SOOO good. The push up finisher literally finished me off. Thank you again Caroline for another awesome workout. My arms will salute you once I can lift them 😤🙋🏾‍♀️🤣.

    My arms are dead, 💪🏋️‍♀️ but managed to up my weights again today, thanks to the encouragement of Anthony.... 12.5kgs chest, Rows 16.5kg but had to drop to 8kg and 6kgs for some of the bicep curls...     I really appreciated three facts: 1.the initial repetitions of this workout 2. holidays are gone (italian panettone is too delicious for me to resist) 3. My baby boy is sleeping so I Have been able to work out till the end of it

    Hi Cx. This was a killer arm workout. I'm amazed how you continue to challenge us. I liked how you mixed this up with some repeats and then as the workout went on you mixed it up with more variety. I like getting up and down to change positions. I'm still struggling to do pushups with proper form so I'm often on my knees for pushup finishers which I feel bad about. I'm working on a bench and a wall to focus on my form and build up strength. So happy to start my day with you. Thank you for another great training session!

    Very good workout! The paste isn’t too fast but challenging and keeps you active at all time. The workout alternates so you can rest a bit while still being active. Highly recommend it good job Caroline

    First thing I check is how many push up exercises there are. Definitely my weak spot.😅😅 Will smash it tomorrow morning! 💪💪

      Push ups are hard for me to do as well. I saw on the epic guide that Caroline recommends chair pushups rather than on the knees. Does anyone have any tips for doing chair push ups? I was pretty awkward with the chair on this workout.

      @@michelleb6046 Not really helpful, but I also have difficulty with doing incline pushups because putting my hands flat on the surface puts me at a really awkward angle where my shoulders are rounded forward, but putting my hands on the edge of the surface is usually both uncomfortable and difficult on the wrist. If my hands were flat and almost parallel to my body like they are on a normal pushup, I'd be good, but literally no one has this diagonally slated object in their house. I just stick with knee pushups because studies have shown they activate similar muscles and I don't have to move from the mat to complete them.
