- TURBO LAMIK 8HP70 NISSAN S15 SILVIA IS FINALLY DONE!
Its been 6 months in the making, but Brock finally got his S15 rolling under its own power again and in typical Brock fashion he has to torture test it immediately....... HELL YEAH BROTHER!

When we're not working on cars, we're watching the Grand Tour!

Nice to see brock and dan taking kindly to the TH-cam side of stuff! Getting to experience this level of builds through video is awesome.
That car is sick. All the right parts, looks epic. Well done guys.
Thanks harry its brocks pride and joy thats for sure. Gotta get the new turbo setup dialed in with a little retune and time to get some miles up on the setup.
@@ZeroTo60Tube yeah can see that. Very well put together. Can’t wait to see it running properly
Cracking the gate on the transbrake 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻Job well done Brock! such an epic car!
You need to come down for a test drive!
Great to see another successful 8HP conversion completed by you guys. It will be good to hear Brock's comments when he takes it for a run on the street for the first time. I can't wait to get an 8HP75 in my car but I guess I will have to wait until I get my car running again.
Its all working as expected for brock so far.... although he has noticed a significant increase in rear tyre wear..... very strange.
These 8speed swaps are turning out sooo good man. Hope I can have my gs300 boosted by next year and then 8speed swap it some day 👌. Great content. Stay Patient, Stay Humble ✌️😎
More wiring and initial tune setup for analog stuff would be nice to see and understand! Especially doing an initial tune setup to prepare it for adaptations
Never driven an S15 but I've always wanted to. And with an 8 speed trans it must be a scalpel to drive! It's got to be one of the most beautiful cars when done this way! Along with the Mazda RX-7 . I also learned how a trans brake works this video! Always learn something every vid. Hey I see by Brock's Tatty on his arm that he's a big Donnie Iris fan! Awesome! I love that song "ALeah"!! Great driving tune for sure top 20. Okay I have no idea as to what his Tatty means lol. Sorry if I got it way off! Besides I think the song's actually AhLeah. Rock on Gentlemen!!
haha, unfortunately that is not the meaning of the tattoo, it is a much more sombering reaons.... moving on.
Saw Brock ‘testing’ the S15 the other day outside your workshop. Man this thing is a beast 👌🏼
Happy to see more 8hp goodness. Maybe a 2j and 8hp will find it's way into my e39 some day when the m62 dies
Do it now?!!!!!
Tomorrow is never promised 😊
Running a motec m130 on 18 Toyota Tundra & my Tuner and I have been tossing the idea of swapping to the ZF 8hp90 or a Gm 8l90e. what’s your take or thoughts on which one to run on my 750 whp 5.7 tundra 4x4 ? I cannot decide the best choice due to not enough experience with either trans. I know they will both hold more power than my tundras stock trans with way more aftermarket support for building it tougher along with being able to run 4wd on the street while making turns with either of the ZF or Gm Transfer cases but wanted opinions on which transmission to swap to. Any thoughts or knowledge on the choices would be greatly appreciated.
Those Rims look fantastic. The car looks awesome with a mix of Nissan, Toyota and BMW tech. It'll adapt itself I'm sure LOFLMAO...
Do you have to use a trans cooler with the 8hp? How are the temps with one? I wont be using mine for drifting more roll racing than anything. Thanks!
They use coolers on the BMW OEM applications. However i think for anything like this they should have one. If you are doing rolls and spend a lot of time in the staging lanes. Look in to a cooler that can have airflow from a fan when the car isnt moving.
Damn, I’ve just not long completed a tr6060 swap on my jzx100 but this is already making me want to change.
Be good to see how much faster the 8hp is than a manual with a before and after 1/4 test or 2 similar cars against each other on some rolls
Quick question have you guys seen the power limit to these 8hp70. Doing mk4 swap made 750HP and 585Tq left more power on the table.
well done guys the skys the limit brock looks like a kid in a candy store.Andrew i figured out my rear yoke problem i used the yoke from my 6hp19 e90 320i transmission and fitted it to my fg 6hp26 transmission same spline and captive nut so my flex joint will now bolt up to my tailshaft all i have to do is drill out the locator hole on the front of the tailshaft from 14mm to 16mm to suite the ford transmission no tail shaft cut n shut and the bmw rear crossmember lines up with the ford rear mount just needs 2 new holes for the mount a small modification to the front cross member and the fg turbo engine will fit in i use the bmw gear linkage and this means i can use factory shifter cheers from broken hill
man thats a wicked solution! glad you worked it out.
Very cool, did you have to go DBW or is it still Drive by cable, and works well that way?
This is still cable throttle and that works fine for pretty much all use types apart from circuit. For circuit you really need downshift blip to balance the car on turn in.
Question on the transbrake. I think I heard him say the car was in third but can it be engaged in any gear? Such as a third or fourth gear launch? Any noticable delay from releasing the trans brake button to when the trans releases? And lastly can you guys post a video of the transbrake bump feature as well?
Currently I have a th400 and am trying to compare how these can leave at the strip. Keep up the good work 👍
Hi Nick, by default you can start a transbrake in 2nd or 3rd, you can trick the lamik in to doing it in 4th..... we havent tried 5th yet... Video on the bump coming out in a few hours.
Awesome stuff. Congrats
Touring looks great also
In the AWD tail-housings with Torsen center diffs, what's the Torsen ratio and how strong are they? Can you get stronger ones with different Torsen ratios? Could you adapt the tail housing with custom machined parts to send two jackshafts back up the front in order to convert the transmission into a Torsen-equipped transaxle? I know there are already AWD version with a front diff near the bell housing, but I'm considering doing it MY way in order to get the CV axles as far forward as possible, and also at whatever height I want to put them.
The idea is to have the trans 5 inches off the ground (car frame rails 4 inches off) while the CVs are parallel to the ground on a 27-inch tall tire, and the trans as far back of the axle centerline as I can reasonably get. Do you think it's worth it or should I just stick with the typical single jackshaft to front bell housing diff setup? If so, what final drive ratios are available for that carrier, and are there high-bias Torsen diffs available that can handle high HP in a "heavy" car for it?
Dang, a hearted comment but no insight? I need answers, dammit! XD
hi. do you know if i have to use speed sensor on my wheels to drive with 8hp gearbox? and what sensor do i need on the car? i have a track car. a bmw e92 gtr
regards Erlend Norway
The turbolamik controller calculates wheel speed based on the output shaft speed.
My v160 is starting to need a rebuild in the Supra. Leaning toward this swap.
What an absolute unit.
Hey guys have you done any with ford barras I’ve got a built Barra swapped 31 with a TR6060 this looks like a better thing than my manual 6 speed
We have the adapters on 8speed.au to adapt the barra to the 8hp70. Its been done a fair bit. The only thing on my mind is connecting to the engine ECU, with a haltech its all sweet. It will be a few months before we have the canbus connection sorted for the Ford OE ECU.
Watching Florida
My Sierra k24 8hp50 all running good
Im waiting for some driving vids please!
@@ZeroTo60Tube just needs a quick once over off you know who but behaves amazing
Down on dyno power slightly as expected but pulls trice as hard
This is the future for my old turd lol
Yes sir!
Good ol’ Nissan, that’s why axles didn’t break lol
Missed you lads!
@@ZeroTo60Tube I was going to ask last week what is going on but thank fully I waited.
Expect the worst, hope for the best!
Whats the oil cooler or size of it?
About 500mm x 150mm
Where can we get that 8-speed shirt?
Unfortunately they are not available. We do have a new design now, but only a very small run got made.
Was that launch with the stock converter?
Yes, we have sped it up a little too now. Some tweaks on the ecu side and changes to converter pressure on the transbrake helped. But yeah the diesel converter is doing the job well on this car.
@ZeroTo60Tube Wow that's great...thanks for the info
What RPM did this stall too? :) Do we know if SDE in Melbourne has ever built a 4500RPM+ Converter for the 8HP70? I would rather use an Aussie mob instead of shipping one to U.S.
On this car i think around 3500rpm, however youc an spin these to 4000rpm pretty easily with a 3.0l petrol
Can you do a video on fitting the universal harness to a car?
Yes i planned to do it to the F100 when we get back to it.
@Zero To 60 great my 86 is ready to go just waiting on my turbolamic to come in got the box all in ect just need to wire up then go for mapping with new turbo ect
Is that an aluminum adapter plate or just shiny steel?
Has to be aluminum if it was steel it would be 25lb
It is alloy.
@Zero To 60 okay. I want to do this swap for a genesis coupe. The bk1 3.8 came with a zf auto 6hp21 which means the tunnel fits without mods.
A flex plate adapter needs to be made just like in your vid.
i still want ot make this converstion on mine
What oil you pumping in
Penrite BMV
Keyboard cams are life ❤️
That is a brillaint name for them haha
Where can I get that shirt that Brock wears with the tree?
These were the first batch of 8speed..... uniforms haha. But we will have something similar available in the store soon.
Wow guys. Insane car. Good luck drifting this missile! Regards Nico.
Yeah she's got some power this thing, and like always it feels a lot faster with the 8hp vs manual.
I heard Dan and Simply Tuning aren't doing the BMW and N54 stuff anymore is that true?
Correct. Can’t keep up with the trans swap work at the moment.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Andrew, I'm going to send you videos of my N54 MANUAL just to remind you elitist 8 speed auto guys of the old glory days. 😂😂
@@TML34 bahahhaa
Credit to your skills
Great work
Thank you! Cheers!
also you should pop in sometime if you are ever on this side of town
@@ZeroTo60Tube definitely will do
You boys started shipping to the United States yet? I need a kit bro..!
Man we would llike to but the export paperwork on them is just too much. We need to get setup with gov as a proper exporter instead of doing one off exports, its too much paperwork for a few exports. So in short no.
Garage Whifbitz is able to ship to US! Where I purchased mine through, just sucks cause the support is all overseas
@@546skaterboy What has support been like through those guys?
@@546skaterboy yeah they were the first I learned about when I was thinking about slapping a DCT behind a 2jz for my gs300. But their kits were super expensive then.
But I’d frankly use a turbo lamik kit over any other transmission controller companies right now, just because of the success stores and the amount of support available. I’ve seen too many ppl complain about lack of support working with other companies, even to the point that guys are ditching their projects.
Followed Dan since he did the initial swap on his flow master car and it just seems a lot of user friendly. His bench test in the video saids it all lol. Plus zero to 60 does a great job responding so I’m sure the support will always be there when needed
@@ZeroTo60Tube I understand my friend, we need you to seal the deal with them tho. let get this thing on the way, I’m positive you will have lots of business from the US as well:).
What kind of power will the 8hp70 hold? Real world not manufacture limits.
We really dont know. But type of use and how hard the engine is revving i think will come in to play. Id say a petrol engine running out to 8000rpm probabaly somewhere around 1000nm.
The 70 means it's rated to 700-Nm for petrol engines. That's tested hard and bulletproof. Will "hold" more to some extent but sacrifices life
Back to BMW content. Where are your cars
Search spoolstreet for zeroto60, i can't talk about it.
CRIKEY....... #8SPEED
Nice
So is it proven yet that these transmissions can hold up to the abuse of drifting and regular clutch kicks with higher levels of grip? I love seeing all these swaps and innovation!
Man, i am surprised we have broken one yet. However if anyone is going to torture test its brock. These tyres lasted didnt make it to day 2 of testing...
@@ZeroTo60Tube I’ll be watching the developments closely! Appreciate the content!
