Carried every single day for 26 years.. in all those years I've had two draw my gun twice in self defense. Of those two times , I only fired once . The first time was broke down on the side of the road. A car pulled over and what I thought was a helping hand , turned out to be three grown men toting a bad vibe. I didn't get out of the car, one of them knocked on my window, and I said " I'm good waiting on my father in law , thanks".. this provoke him to punch my window with what I would consider medium strength.. at this time I drew my Glock 27 and let him look down the barrel.. this made him decide to find something better to do.. I had actually forgot my pistol when I left, but realized it about a mile after leaving and I ALLLLLLLMMMMOSST didn't go back and get it I learbed a valuable lesson that day... If you don't carry 100% of the time, your carrying 0% of the time... Ive no doubt my little Glock saved my and my wife's hide that evening . The second time I actually had to discharge my gun and take a life. But the life I had to take belonged to a big ol ugly mean pit bull mix . We live in a rural area on a dirt road, and we had a huge mudholw in the drive and I went to trench it to drain it. I grabbed my xd-s mod 2 in 40, put it in my right front pocket and went to work.. I'd been out there about 10 minutes when I hear something charging through the woods.. scared the hell out of me.. the dog was on my before I knew it, knocked me to the ground and proceeded to dine on my leg It seemwd like it took 45 years to fish my gun out my pocket , and it didn't help I fell on my right side.. the dog managed to rip my work boot off, and cause 19 stitches worth of damage to one side of my leg and 4 on the other. When I finally got the gun out , I can't describe the relief it gave me. I gave him a silvertip right upside the head and that was that. It was devistating to him and also my foot.. two bullet fragments and a bone fragment had to be removed.. but I got to keep my leg and my life, but the rabies shots are awful All those years carrying and it was a Damm dog that that I had to defend myself from.. Over the years I've learned three things. 1- as I mentioned, if you don't carry 100% of the time , then your carrying 0% of the time.. 2- carry in a manner where you can access the gun with either hand . It's hard to dig a pistol out of your right blue jean pocket with your left hand while your right leg is being dined upon. 3- use bonded ammunition. You never know when you might need to shoot through a passenger window or a animal with your body part in it's mouth.
This video could definitely save someone's life. I always remember to never put myself in a situation where this can happen, but sometimes SHTF and life gets out of your control.

@@TacticalRifleman I would argue the left arm placement is a bad call. You should push/shove with your left THEN bring your left hand back to your chest WHILE you draw and engage the target. Do NOT connect your limbs to a target while you’re actively engaging it. So much can go wrong here. Dont forget that people grab and fight back.
yup. my wife still always worries - like in a Christmas story, except it's "you're gonna shoot your D*ck off". I just tell her I prefer to keep 'em both loaded at all times.

Thanks for making the video. I was looking for a clear example of this to show someone. I learned this technique in a class I took. It's something you don't think about until you start carrying. So many scenarios.
That is EXCELLENT. Great example of a situation that could happen to anyone one of us, at anytime and anywhere.. Important to have a solid example on how to handle it. Singular and multiple offenders Thank you for the video.
I like how simple and to the point your video was... very impressive and retainable! Some gun channels are so wordy like Yankee Marsal, he talks more than any woman!!
Great video . I like how he said in a situation like that, just get the hits on the targets .His movements were from target to target was great to watch also. All that info.,easy to see and understanding in less than 3 minutes.Just absolutely outstanding. Iam sure it took hours and hours for setup and production , many thanks.
Personally, I found this drill to be very no-nonsense and intuitive. After reading some of the comments, I noticed some people were critical of the moving backward while shoot aspect. Do you think it would be possible to incorporate a deliberate trip into this drill to show, yes, it is possible to retain muzzle control and fire upward at an attacker if necessary? Would this be too dangerous to demonstrate on TH-cam? I feel like going into the tactics of firing from stress positions may quiet some of the critics.
Great Question. I too was taught not to walk backwards while shooting. However, this was always in CQB schools, where I would be surrounded with other assaulters. Critics to to think about "Making space" and "Do I want to turn my back on threats?" I'm sure most will agree with us on both of these subjects. You also mentioned shooting from stress positions. There are drills you can do, such as shooting from your back and side, and shooting in confined spaces such as in a vehicle. Thse are reat drills. However, if you attempt these, ensure you hve a safety officer right there to ensure you don't flag yourself. These drills increase the risk factor, but are also valuable. First, and foremost, master the basic fundamentals of pistol marksmanship. Thanks for watching. Strength & Honor, TR.
Make a gun buy one on the black market whatever just say you took the gun off the criminal you lose the gun but hey you're alive. Keep the internals wiped of fingerprints and don't forget to wipe the bullets and wear gloves when loading.
Manu I dont think private ownership of assault rifles would be a good idea in a country like India.Indian citizens can own handguns revolvers and shotguns.Getting the license for guns however is the trickiest part.
A pastor who's also an NRA Instructor once told me that when shooting multiple assailants, the rule of Baptist Church luncheons applies... everyone gets firsts before anyone gets seconds. Do you disagree?
For the last exercise, it might even be safer to engage the first threat while simultaneously attempting to put it between your front and the 2 on the left and back left. In reality, those two threats could've made substantial ground on you by the time you turn to face the 3rd. putting the first between you and the 2nd and third not only puts you front facing new threats, but puts threat one in the line of fire of his buddies. Could buy you some critical time in a crisis situation.
After double tapping the first perp, unless the other two are SAS or Sayeret they are not going to engage you at 7 yards like the OK Corral. Either get a reality check or get back on your game player.
I agree with this guy. ☝🏻 Your average jack wagons are gonna turn and run once they see their buddy smoked. Or are fumbling for an oversized pistol with a 7,000 extended mag. In either case you’d get round on them more than likely first.

Perfect timing for this video I just attended a training session on Rex applegate’s point system and this close quarters shooting was exactly what we covered and yes I found out you gotta get over the muzzle blast . Great video as always love you guys keep em coming
The best caliber to shoot in close quarters is the one you are comfortable with. Hopefully you have hi cap. Not to start the old argument but 9mm is solid for cqc. You can have more rnds to let loose, plenty of power, cheaper ammo for practice, vast array of very good self defense rnds. Higher velocities on expanding ammo wins the day as it transfers maximum energy to the target.
Why wouldn't you step back on the draw instead of taking a chance on being grabbed? Taking a step back would give you a better stance in turn giving you better shot placement options.
Appendix carry requires different technique. May want to address this topic in a future video for the civilian world. Keep up the good work my friends.
I feel realistically the man behind you in the 3 man drill would have tried to retain you first given your back is turned to him. would you feel that shoving the first man out of your space the turning and taking out the man behind and proceeding left to right would work ?
It would work, but so would pulling the first guy between you and the other two while moving counter clockwise around the group. My point is every situation is different. Train for as many different situations with as many different techniques as possible, and hope you never need to use any of it. Thanks for watching, TR

When you drew your weapon, and said you flagged your thumb against your rib cage to help support your grip it looked to me like a real good way to tear your thumb from the slide. I’m in the practice of never, ever lifting my thumb above the action of the slide anywhere on the firearm. That was a lesson learned the hard way for me.
