Dont worry jackie my fridge is the same. It kinda sucks cuz I wanted to collect all kinds of magnets and deck out my fridge 😭
I feel like ten minutes then going out is a good burn time for a candle that a kid might forget about. If it lasted a normal candle time, that's more opportunity for fire-related accidents. Though I kind of feel like it's for kids to mold, parents to light, and then the kids can watch it melt
Would be a fun craft for kids to make their own birthday candles.
Or kids make it for mother’s/fathers day
yeah true! however many adults would also like a kit like this so i guess for an adult it'd be better if the candle lasted at least an hour

I would guess that the wax in the first kit is what is called "kneeding wax" here. Basically you use it to make decorations to stick to actual candles.
I was telling my teenager to throw something away and I told him: it goes in da trash, then I laughed and he looked at me funny 😆
Jackie! As a person who worksclosely in the toy design and packaging world I want to let you know that often times there is photoshop on the packaging not because the product is bad but because the final manufacture process isn't done in time to take photos for packaging. That's also why sometimes the toy doesn't look exactly the same as on the box. Not always but a lot of the time that's really what your looking at when you see "photoshop"

JAkIE YoUR DoINg It WrOnG!!! The "sheet of paper" included is meant to be folded up like a card to you can gift the candle. I think you got a faulty one as mine worked perfectly. Maybe that's why they bribed you with candy. When I did this kit a few years back it turned out great. If I can find it I'll put it on my story and tag you.

I'm sure she's considering it but she knows how heavily scrutinized it would be and exactly what type of craft it would be. If it was sculpting, which I think she would gravitate towards, she'd probably need to have the clout to get Sculpy to work with her on it, because she couldn't include bad components in her kit.
But we know she'd do an instructional video for it at least!

Ah the candle kit I knew wasnt going to be all that great. The plaster kit is over priced but it worked how it should. What they dont tell you is after demolding those pieces you should let them dry for 24 hours and then base coat them in white because plaster is thirsty.

I love playing around with the plaster kits, use to buy them none stop and never had any problems with them..Might just get my hands on that unicorn one though, looks so cute, photoshop and all..
kit: instructs to heat wax so it bonds together properly.
Jackie: I wont do that.
candles: not bonded properly so they look weird.

Plus she used a hairdryer so ancient that it might not really get warm enough.
I mean yes but she did heat half of it, it likely wouldn't have changed the appearance all that much lol. And the candle would still have lasted less than 10 minutes.
@@psychotophatcat well when you heat wax and then let it re solidify it gets harder, at least from what my fire obsessed candle loving hobby has shown me

I used to get plaster kits like that when I was a kid in the 90s. Our fridge was covered in poorly painted plaster tropical fish, kitties, horses, etc.
I loved those kits, but the plaster was so fragile that any time a magnet fell, it was a goner. They’d always break in to a few pieces and parts of it would crumble to dust, so you couldn’t just glue it back together.
Same! But we had an amazing ceramics store in town, so my mom very quickly learned it was better to bring us there and let us pick out small pieces to paint and she could get larger pieces to paint herself. You could even get greenware, take it home and glaze it, and bring it back to be fired. I loved everything about that store, the smell of wet clay and clay baking in the kilns, and rack after rack of pieces just waiting to be finished. I was so sad when it closed and I never got to bring my son there😢 If there's a ceramics store in your area I would highly recommend checking it out!

I used to go to a proper hippie school and we used to make candles out of that stuff all the time. We also used it to make the bobbles on the top of knitting needles.

The first kit is dark as hell. Imagine a kid making this adorable little animal and being so happy, only for it's face and everything to melt into a puddle after it's lit 🤣🤣

Your not alone when it comes to your fridge! Mine is also like that. I find it quite odd and im always trying to hang something and it falls.
I think the candle kit was amazing, so much more hands on than just melting and poring wax, and if I kid uses it, they won't want to wait around for a hour or two for their candle to burn, they get to see their work in action right away

My husband and I were trying to remember the final item for our shopping list, while watching a TV show. One of those house make over ones and they were making an art room for one of the kids and added lots of cheap sets of markers and pencils and I commented that they should get them something that lasts. My husband just quoted you and said: In the trash!
Then he shouted: Salt! Thank you NerdEcrafter!
Salt was the last item for the shoppinglist that we had been trying to remember for ten minutes. 😂

The plaster crafting kit hit me hard with the nostalgia vibes lol. It reminded me of when I was a kid, my mom would buy me similar plaster casting kits--same plastic tray, same paint pots (except they would also include glaze)--and we would spend hours painting them together.
Good to know the Unicorn one does pretty much work. I bought that same kit a while back but never got around to making it. I figured if and when I do that if it didn't work well I could use the molds (moulds) for something else.

That wax kit looked like it was basically cheap beeswax. I used to play with a more high quality beeswax all the time when I was a kid. And I did make candles with it, but it was adding colored bits to a white candle base.
I have used that candle kit and it works very well
