Woohooo Moriah finally tested this “Not another crap kit”! Being a moriah fan and a grain it feels so good to see them both reviewing each other’s kit or merchandise.
The fact that you're an artist, painter, creater (whatever) and can see through the lens of criticism and improvement on its own just makes you that much more of a creator, an artist, a painter. We learn more when we realize what we don't know. Such a good video on developing and trying new skills.
I like your bear. It turned out really cute. I think the apron was a really good compromise. And considering the 'doesn't stand on her own' you could always just glue her on a little base so it isn't really that much of a problem.
In the hand that the bear’s supposed to be holding something, you could put a spatula (or other utensil) to make it seem like the bear is cooking something- hence the apron.
I thought it was odd that Jackie didn't send you one! It's impossible, she's the sweetest person and you two are great friends! Curses to that post office! >=( Bear turned out great! I hope you try to do something with the broken arm sculpture as well! Maybe a part 2?

Super fun to watch with a great result. However, I would have loved to see you push through and try some new stuff. I know it is super daunting sometimes to try new mediums. Resin really isn't hard to do. The way Jackie's kit sets it up is really easy and is a good introduction into resin and it really changes the potential of the resulting figure. I really hope you can maybe pick up the second kit and try a more ambitious project using the things you didn't end up using.
I agree, I have not seen others using this kit since I'm don't watch many of their videos and i felt a bit disappointed since I'm a resin artist and thought I would be seeing Moriah tackle her anxieties about resin.
I think its also refreshing to see someone be ok with where theyre at right now. If shes not having fun pushing herself wont make it fun. Its not a competition.

Progress is good in small doses and you aren't making huge jumps that make you go in over your head. Getting experience with resin here is easier since she would be following a structured kit. Resin is fairly easy when doing it for small things. Especially when UV resin is very useful as opposed to part A/part B with a 24 hour cure time type of resin.
this was really fun to watch! and seeing as you have the mold, maybe in the future, seeing as you have the other tools, maybe you can slowly try and experiment with the other tools in the kit, like the resin and the apoxy clay, or even experiment more with sculpy!
I love the clay projects/ videos tbh - it's really cool to see the Moriah sculpt the figures from a blob of clay AND paint them, and I'm sure it will keep better and better as she gains experience with it.
I love Moriah’s and Jackie’s friendship. I also love how they’re similar because they’re both very creative and crafty, but they also have their different skills and art styles. It’s so cool watching them try out each other’s techniques and supplies. Like how when nerdecrafter paints her squishy unmakovers, or in this video where Moriah tries out sculpting.
Love your work with the kit. Even "professional" crafters had troubles with the mold. Great job. You could have use the apox sculpt to attach the arm back on.
"Intense kneading" Moriah, you might practice with old fondant. It dries and hardens over time so to make it soft again you have to do a lot of massaging and kneading, it also tastes delicious and you can't over-knead it. Great for beginners.

I think it's great that you dived right in. I haven't ordered a kit because the thought of all those materials and tools kind of intimidated me, like an embarrassment of riches, and I think I needed to see someone say "OK, we got all this stuff, but I'm only going to use this, this, and this" and get a result like that adorable little bear.

I love the idea but as being a person who graduated and who did yearbook class it was a pain and so complicated unless you use a certain software which is expensive.

I like your bear. I watched this with my daughter who is working on her own sculpture. We have a broken arm and bad feet as well. I was able to help her get the figure to stand my adding some layers to the feet. The lack of booty on the figure does contribute to its forward falling nature 🤣 But its still a really great kit 🥰

Incase you want to make another little character….You can bake polymer clay to ‘save progress’ so you don’t smoosh stuff, add more clay, bake to save progress etc etc. That way you can get more details but iirc you will need to use the liquid sculpy as ‘glue’ when putting unbaked on baked.

Oh, I know the feeling to make it lumpier by trying smoothing it out - that’s why my two first figurines got beards in the end. I needed to cover at least part of their faces 😆 Great work, especially for a first time… a very cute little bear. 🐻
