I actually work for a company that sells basically THESE exact same locks that you have in the video. These are basically the very beginner locks that you can try out. The picks that you got in the BLACK POUCH are the cheapest of the cheap that you can get for lock picking... But they're good for beginner. Also know that "Criminals" will not use their time to break into someone's house with lock smithing, they will just break something! ANYONE WANTING TO TRY AND UNLOCK STUFF WITH LOCKSMITHING - DO NOT and I REPEAT DO NOT try and lock pick ANY locks in your own house because it can DAMAGE the lock and pins! ONLY use it on training locks or buy locks that you DONT CARE about.
If you go to a locksmiths sometimes they will sell you locks super cheap that they've opened for customers and then kept because there's no key for it anymore. Great for practicing on!

When my husband and I started dating, we stepped out onto the front steps to have a smoke (we’ve both quit, so no worries). Forgetting that my front door locked automatically, he pulled it shut too fast for me to stop him. Only problem…it was early November, roughly 20 degrees, both of us were coatless, and I was barefoot. I’d been standing on the thick mat on the top steps, which was perfectly adequate for a 10 minute smoke. We wound up waiting for over an hour for my roommate to get home and let us back in. While we waited, he wrapped my feet in newspapers from his car, and walked to the corner gas station to buy me a great big cup of coffee as he had dressed far more warmly than I. I knew then and there he was the one.

I highly recommend going over to Lockpicking Lawyer's youtube channel and watching him at work. Firstly, he clamps his locks in a vice so they hold steady, which would help your finger pain problem. He also has done reviews on lockpick sets, which might be helpful information to have. And if you go back to 2016, he did a vid called How I Practice Lock Picking, which is great info. If you really want to be able to pick locks, I suggest his video A Lock Picking Game Changer, where he demonstrates a tool set that is meant and actually effective for beginners. While I really enjoy his vids for education, yours are far more entertaining. Thanks for the laughs.

23:49 That does look like the correct rake tool, and you do use it by basically just moving it back and forth. The ridges on your rake tool look a lot sharper than the ones on mine, so that might make things more difficult if those sharp peaks are catching on the pins and the pins aren't wanting to move because of tension. The rake tool is somewhat of a "cross your fingers and wait to get lucky" type of tool (You're raking it back and forth in hopes that the random ridges combined with the tension you're applying to the cylinder will result in the pins lining up on their own), as opposed to the hook tools which are generally meant to get more precision so that you can work with one pin at a time and align them yourself. Basically, you've just got to experiment to find the tool and way of moving it that works best for you.
I actually had the first pick locking kit the cheaper one and I got pretty good. One day I actually ended up going to school and I was doing GCSES and I was in art and we needed something out of a locked cabinet for our exam prep but all the teachers have gone home so I actually was able to break into it with two Bobby pins, I put everything back and locked it up afterwards (once again with two Bobby pins). I did end up telling the teacher but she wasn’t angry due to the fact that we were the older kids and allowed to go in the cupboard.
I have unlocked the double ended lock with "raking" before, which is moving the pick back and forth in the keyway. I believe that is the correct method, but it can take some time to figure out. You opened your kit exactly like I did! I also went back to the other locks to gain confidence again. I also tried to pick my front door, way harder than the locks I got.
I remember when my grandfather (licensed locksmith) began to teach me. He gave me a paper mate pen and a paper clip my only other tool a pair of pliers. I had to use the metal of the pen cap to make a torsion rod, and bend the paper clip to a 45 degree angle to make a pick. It did work on the basic blue band master lock fairly easily… oh and the crappy plastic locks are super super easy lol. You need to apply constant pressure to the wrench so when you raise the pins they get caught on the way down.
I love how we could watch this channel unfold from "I'll show you how to make a cute pokemon diorama!" to "what can I do to unleash the ultimate powers of spite even more?"

This series is really interesting 😁 And yes I've locked myself out - broke off my key on accident, in the middle of winter and had to go to a neighbor to get this mess sorted and to warm up (I was in my Pyjamas and just wanted to "really quickly do this thing" oh well... 😅😂
As a past career criminal, who has genuinely served time, I can say I've never been prouder. Locked out of your house or not, this is superrrrrr handy to know. Car locks especially. As far as the other "hobbies" you've picked up, those can take you places to if you get good at them. It's part of those things, like clean hygiene when tattooing and piercing, suturing a cut, that is incredibly useful information. And I am glad you're sharing that. My idea for a next vid, is trying prison/jail recipes. Though if you do that you're def going all the way over to a criminal theme lol. I'm sure we will all love any crazy thing you get yourself into. Keep it up Nerdethug🖤 #OG
Love the video. When I was young my eldest brother taught us all to open locks, with combination locks you can feel it click. The reason he taught us was two fold, keep us occupied and the kids at school would lock their bikes up and either lose their key or forget their combination. One day my son couldn't open his combination lock he'd been playing with. He rung my brother who told him to give it to me. The shock on his face when I opened it and wrote down the number for it. 🤣 When I was a kid keys were left in metre boxes so never needed to break in. I now have grandkids.
I've been trapped out of my parents house on a multitude of occasions within the past 10 years, I am 25 (do the math). If it hasn't been a broom accidentally blocking the door, the door frame worps, then there is the possibility of a door knob malfunction. My neighbor on the other had has accidentally locked herself out before; her solution is going through one of her unlocked windows herself, or tossing one of her children in the house. As a child I was also sent through an unlocked window at my grandmother's because she had locked the door with the house keys inside. (If I remember that time correctly, I went both in and out the window. It was the first time I got to go in through a window, when coming out the window my mother asked "why?" Just simply so I could say I went in and out of a house through a window, only reason. I'm just an odd ball 😂❤.)
My dad has pushed me threw an locked window three times as a kid. He at that time always leave the livingroom widow unlocked! He now has spare house key on his truck keys!
My mom loaned me to the neighbors to crawl through their son's window. They neglected to mention he had a waterbed, so when I landed I bounced off. Quite the surprise
yes! We always left one window unlocked and open a crack in case we needed to break into our own house. I think it was either the bathroom or toilet window. Had to "break in" a few times before we finally got our own house keys.
Omg yes as a teen I always left the downstairs bathroom window unlocked just in case, had to climb in more than once, one time with friends giving me a boost and a couple times having to find something to climb on. Thankfully the window was on the back of the house.
I grew up in a lockshop until I was five- Mom did the receptionist work and so the break room was redecorated as a nursery! And my Godfather and Dad were the locksmiths 😊 (Lots of drama, but not the point lol 😁) I had plastic key rattles, and once I could walk, I was given a few real locks and they tried to teach me and left the locks with me to fiddle with like a puzzle 🧩 Unfortunately, I proved to have no lockpicking prowess and so after a few years I lost interest… If I had these locks to learn on, might’ve been different, but I don’t know if they even existed thirty years ago… 😆 Point is, I feel your pain! 👏
I'm excited for this video, and had to pause it near the beginning to tell you about the Lock Picking Lawyer channel on TH-cam. Not only does he pick locks, he points out critical security flaws, offers ways to improve the locks, and even had his own pock picking tools for sale.
She teaches us even more things, this is starting to be educational yet experimental channel like The king of random, keep going Jackie! I love this 💜 and you ofc... And Sika... And your kitty cats... And Angel birb
Ah Yes, first we got tattoos, then piercings, then suturing, and now we're opening locks, we are on our way to become that person with tough-criminal looking who's always missjudge by their looked but it's super helpful during emergencies during a zombie apocalypse
My husband and I have multiple lock and pic sets and use them as fidgets basically. In doing so we both can pick a pad lock in less than 10 seconds. A tip for the "harder" padlock, just a normal pin set whereas the "easy" lock had almost no pin set, you have to set each pin individually. The notches in the middle of the pin is where you need to get it to click. So push each in up individually to where the notch is visible and slowly drop the pin so it sets. Go slowly from pin to pin so you don't knock any set pins back down. Also any lock from a set that you can put the pick in all the way and just push it up to get the pins in is not a good lock to train with. Again you should have to set each pin individually
I remember when I got locked out of my house back when I was in middle school. I kept pulling on the door handle until I broke it open. I broke the metal piece that has a hole where the lock thing goes to keep it closed. So my dad had to push something to keep the door from opening on its own as it didn't close properly anymore. My dog walked out in the middle of the night, used the restroom and walked right back in because the door opened on its own. The next day my dad replaced the part I broke with a much better one and the door would finally stay closed. It was also able to lock properly again...
Yay, lockpicking!! Lockpicking is a hobby of mine! You did really well! The different picks just manipulate the pins in slightly different ways- in my experience it's kind of trial and error as to which pick works best in which lock. I tend to favor the rake (the jagged one you tried on the house lock) but I use smaller ones that aren't as pointy as the one they gave you. I'm not condoning escaping from handcuffs, but handcuff shims are neat. Trying to escape from handcuffs might be fun to do, although I'd recommend not doing it alone so you don't get stuck.
My entire brain was filled with innuendos watching Jackie's awesomely hilarious video. Great way to kick off the weekend. Have a great weekend everyone and Jackie,I hope your healing's going well. 😁👍
Different idea than the criminal series lol but I would love to see you make holographic silicone molds for resin! I’m so amazed by this process. Ty resin queen 👑
Hey Jackie I have some Ideas for your Things I do that I have no business doing but I do it because I love to learn series maybe you could do acrylic nails, or, food art, or maybe hair dying. And those are just some suggestions! (Love your video's btw.)
I can imagine Jackie trying to ‘break’ into her own house. Someone reports her. Police walk up behind her. She drops everything and says, “YOU SAW NOTHING.” Make sure you save these videos Jackie for future ‘reference’.
I love that your branching out and trying all kinds of new things lol the odd things u r trying is hilarious and I just love watching them . U sure know how to keep us entertained and coming back for more.
Huh. Didn't expect Jackie to be a budding member of the Thieves Guild! Better start working on that Sneak skill tree along with your Lockpicking! 😌💙 #NerdEficicationSquad
a scope will work Jackie , you need to put tension on the top by pulling upward so the keys will notch in the proper place. then you will feel the slight stiffening of the dial and a slight small click as the number passes by.There is a more advanced explanation if you look it up :) Btw great video.
Might I suggest The Lockpicking Lawyer? He picks all manner of locks, and is very educational about the how's, why's, and what not to get for your own security.
Next on the list should be micro blading eyebrows , then venepuncture/cannualtion, and then acrylic nails or eye lash extensions 😂🙌🏼 P.s as a qualified nurse I’d love to see you putting in a cannula on the fake arm, I found it fun when I was training 😊😊
Oh my god with all the crazy stuff I've seen people doing with acrylic nails I'm sure Jackie and Sika both would have a great time finding all the random things they can put on and inside of the nails.
It takes a lot of practice to pick a lock! Most of the locks I've managed were using the raking technique, where you shove the pick in and out of the lock.
ikr! I play ESO all the time and I also love watching LPL, so this was both interesting and painful to watch. Realizing that LPL is just a genius and lock picking is way harder than he makes it look.
With a stethoscope, try tensioning the actual lock (pull up on the actual part that comes out of the lock) and try both pressing firmly and pressing lightly on the stethoscope. Doctors can choose how deeply they listen to your body by pressing harder or lighter on the stethoscope to choose whether they’re listening to your heart or your lungs generally. On top of that, if you put that tension on the lock, you’ll likely be able to hear more effectively when you hit a notch that causes a pin to fall out of place or whatever until the lock itself can be pulled open.
Love it, Jackie. One icy morning I took my dog out for his morning walkies. Since it was only supposed to be brief I went out in bathrobe and slippers only to find out in horror that we were locked out. I ended up breaking the window on our back door Picking the lock would have been nice.
I'm just imagining Jaquie as a Rouge in a D&D setting and making these sounds as she messes up and having the neighbour's look outside like "what is happening?"
My uncle taught me some basic lockpicking. It's fun, SO SATISFYING, and came in incredibly handy at work. A big part of our business was salvaging and reselling used office furniture, and LOADS of times we'd get desks and cabinets and whatnot that were locked with no keys. We had to break and replace the entire lock before, until I learned how to pick them. I promised my boss that I would never use that power for evil. ;)
Completely understand the whole "sticking it to Karens" vibe, behind you all the way, but you can't disagree that this is getting further and further away from crafting, which is what I subbed for. Hope to see more cash or trash soon, love your normal content 💕
Well Jackie I am a girl who is really into robots and I was thinking that can you try robotic too? there are lots of DIY robot kits for beginners out there. It would be really fun if you try it.
As a kid my older sister had the house key for after school. There was also a spare key. Welp after she lost both keys I got used to keeping my window unlocked and climbing on the ac unit next to my window and climbing in to get inside. There were days she didn’t come straight home. Btw the lockpicking lawyer is a good channel to check out
I did some lock picking for a while (because I like playing rogues in games, lol) and I prefer the toothed one and the scrubbing motion. The key is to have a very light touch to the tension bar with your pinky finger!
That really is how rakes work. Some locks need rakes with higher or shallower peaks, but in the end it's really just a matter of moving the rake in and out while applying tension to the torque wrench. The first time I picked the locks you bought it took me 40 minutes to semi-regularly succeed with the rake.
I used to pick locks as a teenager. Mostly school lockers and my dads work shed. I used a Bobby pin and the flat side of a hair beret. Worked on lots of different locks.
Just as you kept slight tension on the locks you were picking, you might want to try pulling down on the combination lock as you spin. I used to be able to crack cheaper ones by feel alone, but it's been many years.
I've picked my own door with bobby pins on a few occasions after locking myself out. I found I need 2. One as the torque wrench and one as the rake. I also only use the flat side of the bobby pin, and always melt the little nubby bits off the end as well. It's not as easy as using an actual pick set, but it works in a pinch for the standard front door locks separating mefrom my warm bed. Though to be fair, I taught myself using padlocks when I was bored in my mid 20s. 😂
I think you should start a series where you learn to fix broken things for example, a broken lamp with a faulty wire. I think it would be very entertaining
So glad someone else just wants to learn to do these things. I would gladly do so if I had the spare income. Watching you do them is the next best thing.
Hi you should try doing acrylic or polygel nails for the first time😍I believe the supplies aren’t expensive too (non proffesional supplies that are good for practice) you can do so many defferent fun designs🤩
You've got me wanting to get a lock-picking kit now! When I lock my bedroom door, sometimes I forget to unlock it when I go out. When it's locked, the inside part still opens. So it would be nice to have a kit on the outside of the door for whenever I do lock myself out!
I actually work for a company that sells basically THESE exact same locks that you have in the video. These are basically the very beginner locks that you can try out. If you go to a locksmiths sometimes they will sell you locks super cheap that they've opened for customers and then kept because there's no key for it anymore. Great for practicing on!
Also, the one with the black in the middle will only work one side at a time.
I’ve been a locksmith for 20 years. I just want to point out that it will not damage your locks or pins if you pick your own locks.

My idea for a next vid, is trying prison/jail recipes. Though if you do that you're def going all the way over to a criminal theme lol. I'm sure we will all love any crazy thing you get yourself into. Keep it up Nerdethug🖤

I love how you grains give me such great ideas😂❤️
Prison Series, Video #4: Toilet Wine
@@lazyhomebody1356 ew. Good education on the fermenting process though. (Please don't make toilet wine Jackie) lol.
Yes toilet wine! Or rather just try making your own alcohol & maybe serve it to Sika in a cup shaped like a toilet.
You can get a wine making kit on Amazon, you just need fruit and wine bottles to store it. She could actually make wine without the toilet.
"I didn't know this was a DIY stethoscope." I disturbed the dog with my laughing.
She could try fashion designing , I just gave a suggestion since I love this series and find it so entertaining!!!!
That's not quite controversial enough for her anymore! 😂 But I would sure love to watch her suffer through that! 😇😁
When I was a kid keys were left in metre boxes so never needed to break in.
@@quinn2062 I see what you did there
My favorite part is always the "But Jackie..." lol!
😂❤️
My bf does it now when he messes up. I'll hear BuT jACkIe yOuRE dOInG iT wRoNg
No, can't beat Jackie's maniacal laughter.
Jackie you should try making carpets! I think the machine that’s used is called a “tufting gun” I think it could be fun do to ❤️
What do you think about leather work? It would be cool to see you make a wallet or something.
I'm excited for this video, and had to pause it near the beginning to tell you about the Lock Picking Lawyer channel on TH-cam. Not only does he pick locks, he points out critical security flaws, offers ways to improve the locks, and even had his own pock picking tools for sale.
karen coming for jackie's mannager when jackie is her own mannager, this is like a jojo twist!
You thought that is my manager but it was me, Jackie!
She teaches us even more things, this is starting to be educational yet experimental channel like The king of random, keep going Jackie! I love this 💜 and you ofc... And Sika... And your kitty cats... And Angel birb
I love that your doing all these different "unconventional" videos💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
I love this series so much! Can we see card tricks or close-up magic too?
Ah Yes, first we got tattoos, then piercings, then suturing, and now we're opening locks, we are on our way to become that person with tough-criminal looking who's always missjudge by their looked but it's super helpful during emergencies during a zombie apocalypse
Then I'm going to her house

JACKIE GUESS WHAT
I HAVE THE SAME NAME AS YOU!
This has become my all-time favorite series by you so far! keep up the good work.
Glad those locks weren't in the "normal" locations or your back would have been hurting more than your hands!! 🤦♀️ Interesting learning!! 👍
My entire brain was filled with innuendos watching Jackie's awesomely hilarious video. Great way to kick off the weekend. Have a great weekend everyone and Jackie,I hope your healing's going well. 😁👍
I love this chaotic arch that Jackie is in right now.
Love all this fun videos of you trying new things!! You always make me smile!! 😊🤣

Thanks Jackie for making people like me smile :) keep it up hope your recovery is been going well
I've always wanted to try this. As a kid (many, many years ago), I would often forget my key so I was locked out until someone came home.
You should try those Dissecting kits off Amazon I think I’d be cool to watch :)
karen’s gonna be going wild now 😈
Omg I love this series so much I’m so glad that she started it
Didn't even watch the full thing but it's gonna be awesome!
a scope will work Jackie , you need to put tension on the top by pulling upward so the keys will notch in the proper place. then you will feel the slight stiffening of the dial and a slight small click as the number passes by.There is a more advanced explanation if you look it up :) Btw great video.
RE: the locker lock, i think you need to put tension on the latch so you can hear the clicks.
...doing home tatts..piercing & now lock picking!! Such a vibe
Really cool
Ok I was first- but that doesn’t matter :):):)
Might I suggest The Lockpicking Lawyer? He picks all manner of locks, and is very educational about the how's, why's, and what not to get for your own security.
Next on the list should be micro blading eyebrows , then venepuncture/cannualtion, and then acrylic nails or eye lash extensions 😂🙌🏼
P.s as a qualified nurse I’d love to see you putting in a cannula on the fake arm, I found it fun when I was training 😊😊
Ditto 😆
I actually *really* enjoyed mastering phlebotomy & IV insertion 💉
Oh my god with all the crazy stuff I've seen people doing with acrylic nails I'm sure Jackie and Sika both would have a great time finding all the random things they can put on and inside of the nails.
@@lacytaylor1501 I can see them doing "aquarium nails" now! 🤩😂🤣
@@Saighin Jackie's already done this in a previous video 😊 she's discovered she has an allergy to nail polish since however.
It takes a lot of practice to pick a lock! Most of the locks I've managed were using the raking technique, where you shove the pick in and out of the lock.
So if you play Elder Scrolls online...the lockpicking is pretty accurate.
ikr! I play ESO all the time and I also love watching LPL, so this was both interesting and painful to watch. Realizing that LPL is just a genius and lock picking is way harder than he makes it look.
This series is so fun to watch. if you like doing these please do more! We’re all here enjoying it haha
I'm so amused by these videos I love the ending "love to annoy karens" xD also maybe see if you can find a kit to make your own salt 😆
My god you have stopped having the salt and giving it to the karens
interesting
Love it, Jackie. One icy morning I took my dog out for his morning walkies. Since it was only supposed to be brief I went out in bathrobe and slippers only to find out in horror that we were locked out. I ended up breaking the window on our back door Picking the lock would have been nice.
This is actually really useful as a reference for writing purposes :D Love your videos as always, Jackie.
Thank you, Jackie -- this one was very fun!
Your the only one who keeps me entertained on TH-cam
I'm just imagining Jaquie as a Rouge in a D&D setting and making these sounds as she messes up and having the neighbour's look outside like "what is happening?"
I’ve wanted to learn this forever!! Thanks for doing it for me 😊😊💖
My uncle taught me some basic lockpicking.
Watching Jackie struggling is hilarious!! I'm here for it! 😂😂😂
As a kid my older sister had the house key for after school. There was also a spare key. Welp after she lost both keys I got used to keeping my window unlocked and climbing on the ac unit next to my window and climbing in to get inside. There were days she didn’t come straight home. Btw the lockpicking lawyer is a good channel to check out
What a fun idea! I love watching the lock picking lawyer...had no idea Amazon sells kits to teach lock picking...but they seem to sell everything!
I don't think I've ever literally been so excited for such achievements 😂😂🎉 I was here for it holding my breath, too.
So cool! love it! I have never locked myself in and out the house my father or aunt always opens the door for me.
