I think it's really good in the right situation. What do you think? Edit: I forgot to mention Heritage. It's damage by being kinetic. What this has VS that is unravel + sever on your target + DR you get from woven mail then adding in vorpal/surrounded to that. That is the difference between the two for me.
I'm interested to see where kinetics stand IF there is that red subclass and IF it has kinetic synergy since bungie said they wanted to do that eventually. If that does happen and the 15% bonus dmg goes away supercluster over heritage for sure.
The one thing that surprises me the most is that you got the Inverted Spire strike while I have never seen it in 3 seasons and I reset about 9 or more times in Vanguard
A good way to use Surrounded is on Titan, with Drengrs+Abeyant. In the Lake of Shadows NF there's all those rooms within the water plant when you enter a door directly into a ton of enemies. Just pop barricade, suspend them all, proc Surrounded and woven mail. Thread of Mind means you get class energy back up for the next bunch, Reaper gives you the orb for unravel rounds, rinse and repeat.
I still find it so weird that all the numbers of how much things actually do in game are some kind of secret in game. Numbers in perk descriptions would make a huge difference
Dude fr. It makes getting people into build crafting b shit so hard because two damage perks will both say improved but one is like 5% more with better timers
I feel like we are coming to a cross roads with weapons where you need to stop saying "is this gun better than what I have?" and start saying "what does this gun do different?". This shotgun and scatter signal are prime examples, both have other guns that do almost the exact same thing in various ways, but can do something unique others can't. That being said I don't know if I am going to use the gun right now, I might later simply because I rarely use normal shotguns anymore, and using a slug is even more rare unless I need an extra boss option. It's not a bad gun with bad perks, you just have to decide if it's different enough to play with
Coming? We have long since passed that crossroads and hit every gun now needs to be craftable or enhanced or crafted weapons need to be toned down. Otherwise it will take the loot of d2
@@thecastleofnothing7074 I legitimately would be ok if there were less crafted guns and more focusing options. If I could say get a ticket at the end of a dungeon that lets me select a piece of gear to get, I would be fine with that in place of having crafted guns. Most enhanced perks don't do anything except add an extra .5 second or give +5 to a stat no one uses/needs, theres only a small handful that matter and even then it's only select circumstances where they're better
I personally think what they need to do is make it so that normal drops from engrams have a huge pool of perks to pull from, crafted have a smaller pool of perks but you can never get a true god roll for them, then world drops basically need to always be better than pretty much anything you can get outside of exotics. Taking the time to unlock the pattern should give you some kind of reward but world drops being so rare should always make think that you should keep it over a crafted and be something truly exciting to find.
@@zerolost04 Weirdly enough this is the most sensible idea to improve the crafting/loot dilemma. I will say though some of the seasonal weapons have actually been very mid lately, season of the witch and deep both had very ok/sub-par perk rolls on guns, this season has a bunch of outliers both in season weapons as well as the world drop weapons (plus not having 40 things in the world pool helps). There would have to be a consistency factor, but you might still run into the issue of "this 140 has similar perks as last seasons, why do I need it?", sort of like a 1 shoe fits all dilemma
If you want a cascade point shotgun, Until It's Return has overflow and Cascade point and is a rapid fire frame. It's literally a strand 4th Horseman with over 10 rounds. For this one, slice and surrounded is the play
The things that puts me off with this weapon… is why use it over the FR with controlled and slice? It has nice perks but I can feel safe and secured from a distance with the FR over going balls out with a slug. I like it though, fun to play with in the crucible with a bombardier hunter. Love the vids!
I got absolutely mapped by someone running it like five times in a match. Player was aping with Shayuras, then would slide in or peek with Supercluster and hit me with a body shot from so far away.
I was a bit disappointed about the PvP alternative recommendations. You're right, there are better slug shotties that exist.... but not in the same slot as Supercluster. Gunnora and Inquisitor are Arc and Solar respectively. As it stands, it's really Supercluster, No Reprieve, or Fortissimo-11. No Reprieve doesn't have Opening Shot or Threat Detector and while Fortissimo-11 does... it's a grind to try and get a god roll vs just making a craftable Supercluster. IMO, if you want to use Supercluster in PvP i'd recommend: Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Threat Detector, and Fragile Focus w/ a Stability MW. With 1x Threat and Fragile Focus on, you can hit 100 Range, 81 Stability, and 98 Handling. Is it a Gunnora's Axe? Nope. But it's the only decent craftable Slug Shotty that could work in PvP.
I know this will be a long season so you have my vote for if you want to bring this review/scoring system to older weapons, whether you've talked about them or not
I know its super niche, but what about 4th times, deconstruct for boss damage when applicable? How many hits for deconstruct to give its free ammo? Thats a lot of free bullets
@@user-pq8on8bx9g They dont have to be a construct for the free ammo, this would be for stuff like hydra and Taniks. Anyways, this would be a total damage setup instead of a dps setup, so I figured it would be worth talking about, hes always saying 'this is where it fits'. I know Uzume with the same roll, 4ttc + deconstruct, can shoot 18 rounds from a 7 round mag, so thats a pretty huge 150% total damage increase. If you went 4ttc + Surrounded and surrounded was a 50 percent damage buff, youd only get 135% more total damage.
It's definitely one I've been considering. I've held off this seasons so far from farming it, because fusions are just so good right now. but I'm keeping my eyes open for a shotgun specifically for when they take a seasonal seat again. I think your on the nail with the sever/surrounded roll. Surrounded is nice because if you are close enough to use a shotty, surround is like to be proced anyways. As for sever, that's a great boon in GM level content, being able to get close to amy enemy and then cut their damage by 33% can be HUGE! It pairs really well with the solar Amod this season where solar abilities weaken enemies, and also permantly goes well with void suppression.
I like slice vorpal a lot. Vorpal is just more consistent than surrounded. When I’m intentionally slicing a target it’s probably procing vorpal too anyways. Just easier than surrounded imo
Eh… very good chance you’re Surrounded if you’re using this on anything that’s not a boss (and many bosses too). Even if you’re not Surrounded for every shot… you need 3+ shots with Vorpal to make up for one Surrounded shot. It’s really why Recombination is so good and should be everyone’s go to for Heritage. Easy to stack up and compared to Focused Fury which needs a handful of shots and then STILL 6 shots while active to beat out the very first shot of Hertiage bonus with Recombination. To each their own… math just says Surrounded is going to be better unless somehow you’re 1v1ing enemies all the time.
Great content during a quiet phase in D2. Thank you! Quick Feedback: I know not all of these weapons you cover are going to be GM compatible and mostly for everyday gameplay, but for those that hit that mark, you should make it part of your ranking system. Keep it up dude.
For me the hard question is why would I use this over Heritage if I want a kinetic slot Slug? Heritage still gets Reconstruction, and although it doesn't have Vorpal it is Kinetic so it gets that +15% damage by default, and then you can still use something like Recombination which lets you pocket some burst damage on top of that. (Though to be fair we're talking about a seasonal weapon vs a raid weapon here, you kind of want the raid weapon to be the better option.) I will agree though where Supercluster will shine better is if you lean more into its unique Strand interactions with Slice and any other Strand synergies rather than making it diet Heritage, lean into what makes it unique and you'll get more out of it.
when you think about it this is really the best dps double slug kinetic weapon, since in damage it overtakes a recon recombination heritage, beating it in damage (recombination lasts for one shot only). that is, it will be worth it if double slug ever comes back
Tried it a little bit in Crucible but wasn't much of a fan. I'm not much of slug user either, but I really have a soft spot for Blasphemer. Saw it could get similar rolls (enhanced threat, enhanced fragile focus), but Opening Shot is just built different no matter what shotgun it's on. Wouldn't be surprised OS got a targeted nerf on shotguns as a whole in the near future.

As someone who only uses slugs in pvp, yeah this one isnt the best tbh. Its definitely as good as a seasonal weapon should be, but dont expect it to beat put heritage anytime soon.
I treat this as a strand inquistor. Threat + fragile you can have super high range and super high handling. Clean sights helps too. Plus you can use igneous hammer with it. Sure you could get the moon one too with threat OS, but supercluster is just easier to get the roll you want.
Slice + Surrounded is a good pairing. I needed a shotty for a double special role I was testing and ended up going for Wastelander with Lead from Gold + Trench Barrell. Trench Barrell is the only reason I ended up going with Wastelander but Slice is a great, slept-on perk.
If we ever get back into a double slug DPS meta I think this is replacing heritage. Which is sad. The DSC weapons are some of my favorites but simply because this gets vorpal or surrounded it kinda beats heritage for damage. But for utility, heritage with recombination is better for now.
It’s bad in the sense that heritage is just better for damage output since it’s kinetic but it has its own utility just that most people will use a slug for straight dps

It's definitely a good one for PvE. Sever+Surrounded feels great. You might lose a little in isolated boss DPS phases, but increasingly there are use cases where you are proccing Surrounded in boss scenarios, in addition to general play, and that's exactly where Sever shines too, so it's a great match. Deconstruct perk refunds ammo on hits. Has nothing to do with what your target is. It’s just ammo for landing hits. In anything or anyone.
Hate these clunky gun models
Bruh no 💀🗿

It's definitely a good one for PvE. Sever+Surrounded feels great. You might lose a little in isolated boss DPS phases, but increasingly there are use cases where you are proccing Surrounded in boss scenarios, in addition to general play, and that's exactly where Sever shines too, so it's a great match. I like that we've got Swordbreaker as well for the pellet side of this equation and different use case with One-Two Punch (as well as better PvP applications), so there's some good diversity on the Strand shottie front. BTW scorecard at the end is perfecto 🤌
