In Pinocchio none of the villains were stopped. That was the one thing that I noticed one time when Pinocchio was on TV and it was a movie that was never on TV except for this one time. When this ranking of Disney villains is over, I would bet the Coachman will rank as the most evil.
The Coachman is like Santa Claus' evil opposite brother (anyone else noticed?). Instead of bringing joy to the child who have behaved all year, he brings the naughty boys to a trap where they are actually being punished for their bad behavior.
The coachman is the most realistic Disney villain along with frollo and he's one of the few Disney villain who almost matches frollo in terms of evileness
coachmen is more evil, forllo justifies his evil through god and seeing the gypses as subhuman, frollo is very tribalist in nature but he does still feel like he needs to justify his actions almost like there is some gilt in his mind. the coachmen cares not for justification of his evil he gets a sick kick out of it while making money. the coachmen looks like he is having the time of his life enslaving those boys his conscience is at peace, that there is true evil.
This Coachman is more like some kind of concentration camp commandant, I seriously with my whip with a stick, he is very similar to whom I described, he lacks only the form of a Standartenfuehrer to complete the image of a sadist, a maniac. That Island of Pleasure was more like a concentration camp, unlike Pinocchio and Romeo, no one was forcibly sent there, but the concentration camps in the Third Reich were at the state level.
As much as I DESPISE the Disney remakes (INCLUDING THE NEW PINOCCHIO) if I'd had a say, I would have cast Paul Giamatti as the Coachman - he can look benevolent one minute and be truly terrifying the next. He played a cheery chauffeur and a heartless slave-dealer in the same year.
This is another spot where the movie improves over the book - the book is so preachy and condescending that all the emphasis is on how "bad" the boys are and how they "deserve" what happens to them in the end. But Disney recognizes that adults are capable of much worse things. As dark as the Coachman's scenes are, at least all the emphasis is on HIS evil instead of on his victims.
The only other one who might be on the red as far as messed up as their actions are is Frollo from The Hunchback of Norte Dame, but even he isn’t as depraved and sick minded as The Coachman.
The Horned King, Commander Rourke, Shan Yu, and even Scar ( and Scar is the least despicable of the bunch) are also up there in terms of despicable actions and personality. The Horned King: sends his minions to grave rob on a mass scale, captures many soothsayers to attempt to find the Black Cauldron if they fail he either locks then up leaving them to die or has them executed, he abuses his minions when they fail to the point where they can't take it and they do it to themselves, his ultimate goal is to wipe out all life in earth to rule over a earth of ashes and bones. Commander Rourke: he pretends to be affable but in truth he'll sell out anyone as long as he gets money and he doesn't care in an entire race suffers and dies for his own profit. Scar: kills his own brother so he can get a position of power for himself and he was a bad ruler. Shan Yu: he slaughters entire villages just to inspire fear in the hearts of his enemies in fact he probably has the highest direct body count of any Disney villain.
I'm currently in the middle of writing a long document comparing how Disney villains stack up against each other. I'll send it to you guys once it is done. The Coachman did REALLY well when you look at the raw numbers,
I’m hoping with the live action they stay true to the story which they will. I think a sequel is needed to find out if the donkeys who can still talk get rescued
The scariest part about The Coachmen is that he's never stopped

Right! He's like Krampus basically the reverse Santa Claus in German Folk Lore
I’d go more on the lines of the joker

Actually I think they're on equal footing.
