    I've been so overwhelmed that I missed out on thanking Watchbox and Tim Mosso for the opportunity to share my collection and my thoughts on collecting watches. Thank you Watchbox & Tim - you and all the watch media/watch blogs have been so informative and interesting that it has made collecting watches such an enjoyable "hobby". Am totally embracing the craziness and sometimes obsessive nature of this passion of ours :)

      Sumei - Thank YOU for sharing your story and collection with the WatchBox community! As you can tell by the comment section, everyone loved the video. We hope to see you again in Singapore, Hong Kong, or even the US when travel permits. Thanks again!

    this has to be my favorite collector conversation. her tastes, from sinn and cheap barton bands to fp journe, are exquisite! the key in my opinion to her amazing collection was insisting on following her passion and tastes rather than investment strategy. thanks, tim and watchbox!

    • @VersedNJ
      @VersedNJ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree, have two 104's white dial on bracelet, black on leather, can switch them if I want to, but prefer it. If I do anything, would get a few Barton as mentioned before in different colors. Almost well did order a Sinn Frankfurt am Main. but canceled, while I do like the watch, just thought it was a a bit expensive and saving for a Omega Sapphire Sandwich Moon Watch on bracelet.

    • @sumei2668
      @sumei2668 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Thank you Mark. Tim seriously makes it very easy for the conversation to flow. To your point, I try not to get hung up on watch values (it's hard to ignore though) but I've never regretted buying a watch out of love since the pleasure of looking at it and wearing it is really unsurpassable. I know I might get some flack for this but the fact that Watchbox and other pre-owned dealers exist make it less scary to buy a watch and lessens the risk of not being able to sell it if your taste changes. Yes, you may lose some money but I equate the loss to "rental" money spent having worn the watch for xx number of years.

      Thank you Jon. I hope she enjoys watches as much as you do. I love independents as well! They really push the envelope and can be creative, and social media and watch blogs really help give them more visibility. I would not have come across as many watches as I have if not for Watchbox showcasing them. I get that it's their business to do so but if not for them and other watch media enthusiasts, we would all be for the poorer in watch knowledge.

    Brilliant episode! A really good example of how interesting, fun (and remorseful) a collection can be! It matters very little that I do not like some of the watches, personally but the passion and the curiosity of the people involved had me hooked! Such a welcome change to see a focus shift away from the ‘regular’ manufacturers. Congratulations on your collection, may you enjoy them in good health! Hope to see you on here again as your collection and tastes change!

      Thanks Chung Hau. Some watches are for fun, some are for the beauty of it and some are for the simplicity (or complexity) of it. I still like regular manufacturers but I think the independents create much more thoughtful pieces and pieces which speak to who they are.

The 2-tone band on the Omega was a brilliant stroke. I did find it a bit strange that she wasn't wearing any watch during the interview though, would like to have seen some on her wrist.

    Sumei, you have impeccable taste! I love just about every watch discussed and a few of these are my grail watches: Laurent Ferrier, FPJ Octo. Thanks also for the tip on Barton straps: love the Omega strap. Like you I live in Singapore and wearing leather straps is simply impractical on an everyday basis.
