gosh I hate how the inside looks now. Funny story, in 1989 my friend got married at St. Michael's Catholic Church right up the street. big wedding party. flower girl was scared to walk down the aisle so we had to bribe her with McDonalds. As soon as we left the church, the whole wedding party pulls into that McDonalds. 2 stretch limos. we even took some pictures on that staircase. we didn't eat much at the reception because we were full. lol
We went when it opened and sat upstairs for the novelty. When it opened, most of the buildings, restaurants, and offices along Rockside Road in Independence and on that intersection weren't there. Because of the codes, there's a McDonalds in Freeport, Maine, that is inside a house built in the mid to late 1800s.
Used to live near the Denton House McDonald's in New Hyde Park, NY. That place blew my mind the first time going in there as a kid. McDonald's was originally going to demolish the building & put in a regular McDonald's restaurant, but the community got it registered as a historic landmark before they could. Funny enough, that was also in 1988! Next time I'm in Independence, I'll have to visit this one!
Reminds me of the first time I was in a multi-story McDonald's. It was in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a couple of blocks away from what you call "that school up north". As a young kid, I thought going up to the second floor with my food was the coolest thing.
When we wanted to go to a fancy McDonalds back in the day we would go here and sit up on the second floor. Good times! I’m pretty sure we first went there with my old high school friends when I was on leave from the USAF when this location was still relatively new.
Make "what happened to Bridgeport, Connecticut" next. It's the largest city in the state of Connecticut and former major manufacturing city (3rd in new England behind providence and Boston)
Its the best looking fast food joint in that area. Probably one of the first business to arrive in that stretch of Rockside road. Non of the other fast-food places compare.
I live in West London and there are three former (Large) Pubs in driving distance that were transformed into Mc Donald’s. They have a similar look inside to this restaurant.
I actually discouvered this Mcdonalds by accident, I was just going through that area to go to a Cinemark en route from Knoebels to Cedar Point on a Coaster Road Trip
McDonald's Mansion. Not to be confused with a McMansion.
my mom used to work at that McDonalds. Yes, Independence has very strict building codes

is that the one that had stained glass and is torn down now?
@@reissecupfilms This was on Maynard Street. I don't remember a stained glass window, and I haven't been to Ann Arbor in years.
@@markbrown4039 i just know there was one that kinda looked like a weird church in ann arbour that got torn down in the 90s
A literal McMansion
I use to work off Rockside so I'd pass this place often.. the traffic in that area is pretty heavy.
I have been here before when I lived in the Cleveland area. Cool looking place.

McDonald's customers don't seem like they'd walk up a flight of stairs.

The outside reminds me of a bank
I live near here. We coulda met up and talked trash about the steelers lol😅
Theres a very similar McDonald's over in Niles, OH. It's next to the Franchisee's headquarters so he probably wanted a nice one
The interior reminds me of a McDonalds they used to have in Ann Arbor, Michigan
I have family in akron, kinda want to go to this mcdonalds next time we visit
I used to live in Seven Hills and always thought “damn, that’s a fancy McDonalds” when I’d drive by….never went in

I tried twice last year to go on the bobsled coaster at Knobels last year, first time it was closed second time it was raining 🤦♂️
I lived in Cleveland for 7 years, went by it many times
McMansion!😂
Use to be one very similar in Toledo, Ohio
Just drove by it yesterday
I grew up a couple miles from this McDo. I remember when it was built.
The McDonalds mansion looks totally neat from the inside out.
I've been there before. It was too crowded inside for my tastes.
How busy could that location get where they need a second floor? It is very nice looking for sure. 🍔
You were loving that mansion
Ba da da da da...
Audio is out of balance.
Go check out the one in Niles!
Looks like a generic small office building
Cleanest McD I ever saw
I've been there! Used to go there as a kid
love the mcdonald’s on 21 in independence
Right here in Cleveland
I bet you did not even get butter that’s the only reason to go into McDonald’s
The mcmansion😅.
McDonalds for snobs 😂
I see this place is empty!
I'm McHungry
I goto that one for lunch once in a while.
The exterior looks like an old prison.
literally only in ohio
fun fact, my grandfather built this Mcdonald’s. pretty cool in my opinion
Delete this 🗿
Why?
He forgot the butter
