At one time they were giving tours of the home. My husband and i took the tour. The home was stunning. Where you say that you are in the library she used to have her music awards displayed. You could still see their pet cemetary off of one of the outside porches. It is a darn shame to see the condition it is in. We were so lucky to see it in its glory.
I thought the home was purchased by famous record producers and they did public tours? My wife and I were there in 2017. It was amazing and immaculate. Stunning architecture. I sure hope they don't take it down...
Yes, I was a singing tour guide then but that phase didn't last long . Within those few years, the property boasted several mansion tour a day, a restaurant, God shop,a TV studio, an ampitheater, a boutique bed and breakfast and a distillery. I am so shocked and saddened that it's all gone. The zip lining company is the only business entity still functioning.
It's to bad you couldn't get in to see more. It definitely looks awesome from what we seen. Keep finding the beautiful lost and forgotten homes, small and large. Take care and be safe.
I don't understand how someone can just abandon a beautiful home like that. It's absolutely breathtaking. I wish I could live in it. I would keep It maintained. Why would you let it sit and rot? So many people have nothing and wealthy people are always leaving mansions and huge homes empty just to rot. Sad
Well when you go to sell it and no one that can afford a 15 million dollar home wants it then what are you going to do? No buyer means no sell. Sometimes it’s easier to just abandon or throw away something.
@@jonathannelson33 just because they say 15 mil doesn’t mean you can’t sell for less. I would think anything would be better than nothing. Just my opinion.
You can see the house as it looked in the 1980s here: th-cam.com/video/kGQbEz8vt_g/w-d-xo.html HGTV did a full interview and Barbara gave them a tour of her state of the art (at the time) log mansion. It even includes an interview with her husband Ken who served as designer/builder. The swimming area looks much more impressive in the HGTV show.. the elevator was installed much later. The centerpiece that you thought was a stage actually housed a statue. The "Great Room" (library) is phenomenal. Great video you captured of more current times.
Ya i to thank you for sharing that like ,but must admit it kind of odd , you watch this video in it current empty state but then you watch the 99 specail , give ya a odd feeling
Thank you so much for sharing the link. Houses hold stories unknown, and I'm always left wondering what the stories are on these abandoned houses. I'm always left with unanswered questions. Who lived there? What did they do in the house? What circumstances led to them just leave the way so many did... Leaving things behind, especially personal items, clothes, children's toys, cars, pictures, documents. I usually feel a bit melancholy after watching. The fact that there's footage of this one in it's prime with the actual family moving about...living life... Amazing! Really makes you realize this was more than just a house or, later, a venue... This place was a HOME with people...a FAMILY doing normal (and in rich folks' cases, lol, not so "normal") things. Still makes me feel a bit sad that such a wonderful place has just been abandoned like this, but at least I have a few less questions...
What an absolute waste of such a beautiful home that was built by the Mandrell family. Literally every log was hand picked by Ken and Barbara. Designed by them and they helped build it! I was actually able to take a tour of it in 2014 and Barbara’s daughter Jaime was there. She was in charge of keeping it up as far as fans being able to tour it. All of her awards and outfits from her concerts were on display. She even called her mother and let me talk to her. I’m sure Barbara would be so disappointed to see it in this shape. This makes me so sad. 😢
I agree. The building materials are in impeccable condition. It should be converted into a bed and breakfast/ mini resort/ Rehab. Center…So many possibilities.
I live about 40 miles away from this building. Just watched the 1990s video of her tour through the house. I love log cabins a lot. They are cozy and relaxing. This gaudy monstrosity is giving me the creeps. Great video though. Love your channel
Beautiful. Thank you for showing us this wonderful place . We, the fans would never get to see the places you take us . Take care and keep the videos coming. ❤❤
My wife and I took a tour of the inside about 10 years ago. Absolutely beautiful, and was allowed to play some guitars in the great room if you wanted. Theywere on the wall and was signed by other artists.
Absolutely beautiful place.. Thank God so far it hasn't been vandalize.. I don't understand why people does that for..... Have a great day be safe on your adventures.. 😊
WOW! This was a walk down memory lane... it'll cost a fortune to make it right again. I spent some time there doing stuff for Barbara... She's a sweetheart. She'd make Bologna Sandwiches & we'd just chat about stuff.
I would assume the doors are locked so people can't traipse around and destroy stuff, like we've seen in some places where people are so disrespectful.
It's a shame it's fallen into such disrepair, especially since it's only 35-years-old. Can't imagine the cost of maintaining something like that though. Outrageous. Just keeping the windows clean would be a full-time job.
Yes. A friend of a friend of mine on the home that was that big and they needed five full-time caretakers just to dust and clean the place that cost big money.
Beautiful place love all of the glass, allowing for all the natural sunlight wish we could’ve seen more of that. I’m sure you’ll find something interesting here soon Safe travels to you and your crew and safe travels till next time.❤ I be looking forward to seeing and hearing. from you all 😊 🌞

I hold your channel & your manners as the example for others to follow. Many thanks for the awesome explores! ‘Let Go…and Let God…’ Exodus 14:14 🩵
The outside looks amazing and the inside from what we seen looks great wish we could have seen everything. I hope they just fix it and not destroy it. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home talk care and have a wonderful weekend 😊
That tour was interesting. I still remember the tour of the home she conducted on TV. She named the home Fontenelle which is the name of the soft spot on a newborn’s head. I was hoping we could see the statute she had of the Native American brave but I am sure it is long gone. Thank you guys.
This property has so much which could be done with it to turn it into a good business. A lovely resort for holiday makers to stay, weddings, conferences etc. from the outside it really reminded me of a spa resort. There looks like it has plenty of land to expand too. It did look like someone has been looking after it. On a different note, my daughter spotted me watching this, and screamed at me to subscribe because you had a stranger things t-shirt on, and she’s a huge fan.
The Master bedroom was odd to me having the white marble…didn’t seem to jive with rest of house. The bathroom had mirrors galore and I thought was tacky. Nice big home nonetheless.
So there you have it. A 20,000 square-foot house with a glass ceiling with the air conditioning running with the 50 foot ceilings. Can you imagine what the electric bill alone must be?
. . . and cleaning anything in that house. Like a single room. You would need several full time staff just to clean and maintain. Why not turn it into a rehab place, or a hotel?
It was when I toured it in the mid 20 teens. For a while you could pay to tour this house. It was an amazing tour. That particular room was my favorite.
Oh my gosh. Dude. This place is insane. This is the most insane place I’ve ever seen in my life. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Oh my gosh. Look at that staircase. Literally. Dude. Oh my gosh. I cannot believe this place. I can’t believe we actually got into this beast. Literally. Literally the only people in here. I can’t believe it.
The room your calling the library is actually the family room. If you noticed the vertical logs around the spiral stairs have the autographs of many famous music stars and a few presidents from back in the day when Barbara lived there. There is also a helipad toward the back.
I recognize this place from a reality show that John Rich did. Don't remember the name but he had musicians from other genres live there with him and write country songs.
I think i saw in the video the log over by the spiral staircase in the "library" room filled with autographs. Oprah Winfrey, Minnie Pearl and many more... Great home and awesome video as always!
Deja Voodoo this home is 35 years old! All the logs did come from Montana! They used top quality logs and materials. It is very well made. Sadly, It has just not been kept up well in the last 4 years.
Hi there, Big Bankz Just think of all the homeless veterans who serve our country could use a place like this for them and their families. I'm a very proud Army Ranger mom and I sure wouldn't want my son trying to survive as a homeless vet, it really upsets me so much that they would loud illegal immigrants into our country and set them up with everything they need while are soldiers and veterans have to sleep where ever. This mansion could house so many veterans and their families.
I agree with you too..... It's pitiful to see the homeless living on the street in Calif and Crapping on the sidewalk where people have to walk by going to work.....how can the City get by with that ??? I can't believe it's the voters voting to keep people like this in there City.....they should remember this when they go to the polls.....makes me want to cry..... and some of these people are Vets too.....and they went to war and fought for us and this is the thanks they get.....something is definitely wrong in this City.....
Barbara could have helped those people but instead she built a house that would eventually get torn down...😮 people with loads of monies do it all the time
There is a video online of Barbara showing the inside of the home, it was compleat home for her and her husband and Three children , they even talk with the youngest son, there is a cabin in the woods that they used for camping fun … you need to find the camping cabin also , look up the video, I did!! Barbara was so sweet and kind , the swimming pool had a soda fountain not bars, they are Christians, please look up the video
The reason it is so secluded is because Barbra got tired of coming home to the old house and finding people picnicking on the back lawn. People would boat in off of Old Hickory Lake and because her house was the only house with a helipad they knew it was hers. She at one point put a wall and gate up in front but people would still climb over and so they found someplace where it would be nearly impossible to find.
Wow! Had no idea Barbara Mandrels house was abandoned! Back in the day it was the largest log home there was. And I’m anxious to see if her massive log with all the celebrity signatures still remains! This is very sad to me.
Touring this property was a religious experience. It was unlike anything I had felt before. They had just opened the home for tours. Steve was doing the tours, and his boyfriend happened to be hanging out there with him that day....sitting patiently by the brick fireplace in the Great Room, waiting for our tour to wrap up. Very sad to think it might be torn down, but considering the huge yearly utility and maintenance costs, it is understandable. The logs will make for some beautiful, smaller log cabin homes elsewhere in the future.
Sure wish the Cable Co's would start showing some of these films instead of so much other crazy stuff on tv....I did not see this interview with her.....I used to watch her & her two sisters every week on Barbara Mandell Show.....and then it was gone, never heard a reason why..... I know she was involved in a bad Car accident, but I thought she still came back and even did some shows by herself.....Loved her.....she could do anything and so beautiful too....where is she now ...?? Anyone reading this, do you know ???
There was a tour given of this home after it was built and furnished. They only showed the great room, dining room, pool area and then the family room that consisted of the den, dining areas and kitchen. This home is about 40 years old. I wonder if the logs are in good shape. Don’t know how long these homes last.
Homes like that need constant maintenance especially the glass ceiling. If it was built in the 80s, it probably leaks a lot and a lot of those glass tiles need to be replaced. See how foggy they are from the sun hitting them?
Hope her home isn't destroyed. They should turn her home into a museum. She did a lot for country music. And the empathy she had for the teenager who caused the accident. Never met anyone that would have so much concern for another persons' family. Especially considering she went through 3 years of sheer hell to get back or as close to what she was before the accident. She was a fantastic singer, one I dearly loved. Would love to see her come back to music. Hope she's happy with her life now.
BigBankz actually that balcony led to the residential side of the home. It opened into the family room, kitchen area and then further back all the bedrooms, etc.
Yes, there is a pool under that stage. I have a friend who was a tour guide there, and we have even written songs together there. It’s super cool. They closed the whole property, which also includes a restaurant and other shops down by the road. There is a Southern Living home by the road also that was converted into a BNB. I am not sure if it is closed or not. I used to host a songwriter stage at the cafe for a couple of years. There was also a huge amphitheater on the property that has already been removed.
You could probably fit a regulation size football field in the living room. The echo affect must be so bad even if you’re just trying to watch TV. People don’t realize that when they’re building these monstrosities, they are not very cozy. Places to live in.
I don't get it, it doesn't look run down or in need of major work, it looks like it needs a little cleaning and some paint and some furniture. There's nothing wrong with it. It's all metal, bricks and logs. The mortar and bricks all look perfect. Why would anyone get involved with it if they didn't want it to go to good use. Even if you parceled off the house with 5-10 acres to sell, you'd have 170 acres left to parcel off and sell. I would imagine the demolition would cost more than it would be worth to sell it to someone who has the time and enthusiasm for it. It would be great for someone who didn't need to commute and hates the city. You could have a perfect surgivalist spot out there. Why are good things always wasted, almost out of spite by people who don't appreciate them?
Log cabins have to seal the area between logs in order to keep rain, wind, and bugs out of the space. If anything gains access the logs will decay rather quickly. Logs can shrink and expand with the weather, so I can’t imagine concrete a useful resource. I would think it is something flexible. The color is usually an accent as most will use a color that hides with the colors of the logs.
@BigBankz Once you enter the building, you committed "breaking and entry", I only point it out cause that's my weekend gig, checking out security at seasonal mansions here and calling law enforcement when people snoop around. lol
I remember watching the tour program on TV years ago also. I recall Barbara’s husband having a helicopter to fly themselves in and out of the property. Not sure if the property had a helipad back then, but I believe he just landed on the lawn in the program I watched.
I don’t understand how somebody could let a mansion get abandoned. Surely somebody owns it, even if it’s a bank or the state…? Also, for some reason I thought this was turned into some type of bed-and-breakfast or something like that…? When and how did this become abandoned..?

It was and they were hosting events there. I don't know what happened with that. Then I believe there was a short time where they were doing Tours.
Type in on your browser.."Inside Barbara Mandrells mansion" Gorgeous pictures.
This could be used as a movie setting.......Overtones of the Shining
I don't understand how someone can just abandon a beautiful home like that. It's absolutely breathtaking. I wish I could live in it. I would keep It maintained. Why would you let it sit and rot? So many people have nothing and wealthy people are always leaving mansions and huge homes empty just to rot. Sad
Well when you go to sell it and no one that can afford a 15 million dollar home wants it then what are you going to do? No buyer means no sell. Sometimes it’s easier to just abandon or throw away something.

Thank you, guys, for this pick, finally, a place, though abandoned, but is in fine shape.
I can't imagine this happening, Barbara and her husband built that house and it was designed by them.
You can see the house as it looked in the 1980s here: th-cam.com/video/kGQbEz8vt_g/w-d-xo.html
HGTV did a full interview and Barbara gave them a tour of her state of the art (at the time) log mansion.
Thanks for sharing the link. I just watched it. Must have been amazing to live there. Wonder where all the treasures Barbara collected ended up.
Yep thanks for the link :)
Neat! However, I don't think it looks like this. A company bought it and is renovating it. Adding cabins and attractions.
Do you know why the Mandrell's moved? If I lived there I would never leave it.

The incredible cost of maintaining that property probably made it a wise business decision.
Wow! I'm so glad you were able to get some of the inside. Thanks for your videos!🥰❤🙏
My God, I hope they don’t demolish that gorgeous building ❤it looks like its in pretty good condition 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I agree. The building materials are in impeccable condition. It should be converted into a bed and breakfast/ mini resort/ Rehab. Center…So many possibilities.
Absolutely the most beautiful I've seen! The wood is priceless
I live about 40 miles away from this building. Just watched the 1990s video of her tour through the house. I love log cabins a lot. They are cozy and relaxing. This gaudy monstrosity is giving me the creeps. Great video though. Love your channel
What a goofy waste of money.
Right. Why do people have to ruin everything... I love how respectful these guys are
can I just say I love to listen to you talk - you have such a relaxing voice and a pleasant way of speaking
WOW!! What a beautiful mansion💝this place was so huge! Thanks for another awesome video.Greetings from Germany.
That's a purdy cool looking old place, I'd like to see it come back to life.
Such a beautiful place. I could live with my whole family in th library alone. You take care. Blessings and always stay safe. 😁
@@XcoloradokyleX Does it look well maintained to you?
If you look up Barbra Mandell huge log cabin, there are videos from 1999 here on TH-cam
Thank you for that tip. I just watched it. 😊
Just went and watched her give a tour. So cool to see it before being abandoned.
Thank you so much for sharing a beautiful such a beautiful mansion.
It would make s gorgeous hotel, I hope places like this don't get torn down

The most awesome I've seen! Wow! I wish they will let you come back & go through more! Imagine the master bedroom & it's views!!
Wow looks like a country club
This property has so much which could be done with it to turn it into a good business. A lovely resort for holiday makers to stay, weddings, conferences etc. from the outside it really reminded me of a spa resort. There looks like it has plenty of land to expand too. It did look like someone has been looking after it. On a different note, my daughter spotted me watching this, and screamed at me to subscribe because you had a stranger things t-shirt on, and she’s a huge fan.
Can’t wait to see that house!
Why would anybody want to tear that down? Its absolutely beautiful
And imagine heating it
. . . and cleaning anything in that house. Like a single room. You would need several full time staff just to clean and maintain. Why not turn it into a rehab place, or a hotel?
there used to be an actual ice cream parlor 1950s style, i hope it's still there, it had an old jukebox and everything it was so neat..
It was when I toured it in the mid 20 teens. For a while you could pay to tour this house. It was an amazing tour. That particular room was my favorite.
It would be a great ambient
Recording location. Can you
Imagine the sound you could
Get from all those hidden
Spaces… the possibilities are
Endless😎🤘🎼
I'm tuned in and waiting as usual...letz go Big Bankz 💙💙💙💙💙
I wish I had parents that handed down a property like that. Gorgeous. My sons would love having a pool for their kids.
Absolutely love this one!! Great job as always!
Oh my gosh.
The forest is the star of the show 😮 Absolutely Beautiful 😮
I remember she did an interview here years ago. It’s unimaginable that it now sits abandoned.
It was a beautiful home when Barbra owned it. I was lucky to see it.
The cement between logs is called CHINKING.
Thank you. I was yelling that at my screen, lol.
How do you find these places. So cool. Curious how you get access into the places
These types of videos just always recall the Biblical Scripture: Matthew 6: 19-21 (kjv).
Not really
That’s a low quality log cabin on the outside. Like the Walmart version. I’d rather have a real one like the ones in Montana or WA State
Deja Voodoo this home is 35 years old! All the logs did come from Montana! They used top quality logs and materials. It is very well made. Sadly, It has just not been kept up well in the last 4 years.
Those that get famous, always seem to build these monstrosities. Very indulgent, to big to be homey. A flash of their money. Then poof, they leave.
How did you get in?
Barbara could have helped those people but instead she built a house that would eventually get torn down...😮 people with loads of monies do it all the time
I’m surprised that they didn’t make into a luxury resort.😎🤠
There is a video online of Barbara showing the inside of the home, it was compleat home for her and her husband and Three children , they even talk with the youngest son, there is a cabin in the woods that they used for camping fun … you need to find the camping cabin also , look up the video, I did!! Barbara was so sweet and kind , the swimming pool had a soda fountain not bars, they are Christians, please look up the video
True. Christians don't drink. Ever. None of them.
@@docholliday3150Amen!!😂
The reason it is so secluded is because Barbra got tired of coming home to the old house and finding people picnicking on the back lawn. People would boat in off of Old Hickory Lake and because her house was the only house with a helipad they knew it was hers. She at one point put a wall and gate up in front but people would still climb over and so they found someplace where it would be nearly impossible to find.
Thanks for the tour, BEAUTIFUL cabin!! Love all the exposed wood!!
Wow! Had no idea Barbara Mandrels house was abandoned! Back in the day it was the largest log home there was. And I’m anxious to see if her massive log with all the celebrity signatures still remains! This is very sad to me.
It's still in the toilet
I love your videos, but I thought it would be a beautiful home. It look like the Great Wolf lodge. It is so ugly. Tearing it down would be best
Yes it's still there.
I don't think it's abandoned. Pretty sure it's still for sale.
It really seemed like an industrial type building inside, not much like a “home,” you know?
Touring this property was a religious experience. It was unlike anything I had felt before. They had just opened the home for tours. Steve was doing the tours, and his boyfriend happened to be hanging out there with him that day....sitting patiently by the brick fireplace in the Great Room, waiting for our tour to wrap up. Very sad to think it might be torn down, but considering the huge yearly utility and maintenance costs, it is understandable. The logs will make for some beautiful, smaller log cabin homes elsewhere in the future.
What a beautiful place!
The way to see this home is the interview Barbara did when she lived there. It shows its true glory.
Just seeing the outside was cool.
This Mansion is pure gold, it's just timeless.
This has to be one of my favorites you've done. 😊
This is so beautiful i wish that we could have seen more but thanks for sharing 💯💯
how does one even enjoy a place that huge lol
I don't know but I'd sure give it a dang good try.
If you're bummed about it, you just take dip in the pool and eat ice cream.
Dayyyyyum, I wasn't ready . The structure is definitely beautiful 🥰.
Really enjoyed looking at this place, hope that someone will purchase it and fix it up and take care of it
Very beautifull house ❤
Hope her home isn't destroyed. They should turn her home into a museum. She did a lot for country music. And the empathy she had for the teenager who caused the accident. Never met anyone that would have so much concern for another persons' family. Especially considering she went through 3 years of sheer hell to get back or as close to what she was before the accident. She was a fantastic singer, one I dearly loved. Would love to see her come back to music. Hope she's happy with her life now.
I don't know. Just because someone could sing doesn't mean they deserve a museum.
What was up the spiral staircase? A little disappointed it seems like you could have shown more
It was just a balcony. I showed just about everything I could
The place was locked up. The outside door lock was apparently broken. So now this beautiful place will be trashed to hell and back. What a shame
Love the sound of the wind in the trees. Beautiful.🎉

That place is Gorgeous, i can’t imagine living in a place that big .
You could probably fit a regulation size football field in the living room. The echo affect must be so bad even if you’re just trying to watch TV. People don’t realize that when they’re building these monstrosities, they are not very cozy. Places to live in.
Love the architecture of this place!!! Great explore as always 😊😊😊😊
The color is usually an accent as most will use a color that hides with the colors of the logs.
that would be amazing retreat
I remember her having a showcase tour of this place on TV when it was brand new
Why that would be demolished is insane
Wellll who has the money to maintain it? And what can you actually use it for as it is?
@BigBankz Once you enter the building, you committed "breaking and entry", I only point it out cause that's my weekend gig, checking out security at seasonal mansions here and calling law enforcement when people snoop around. lol
I remember watching the tour program on TV years ago also. I recall Barbara’s husband having a helicopter to fly themselves in and out of the property. Not sure if the property had a helipad back then, but I believe he just landed on the lawn in the program I watched.
Yes there was a helipad there.
I’ve been inside that home years ago when the Mandrells lived there. That is a pool, her bathroom was amazing !
I don’t understand how somebody could let a mansion get abandoned. Surely somebody owns it, even if it’s a bank or the state…? Also, for some reason I thought this was turned into some type of bed-and-breakfast or something like that…? When and how did this become abandoned..?
