Just want to say how much I love your video tips. I am 55 and have played for 45+ years and still learning.
As a woman I've struggled to get a guy to explain jumping to me. After watching this video I just did it and made the ball 3 times and even drew it back once. Thanks Jasmine! Hope you see you at one of the WPBA events some day :)
super Video Jasmin, nicht wegen des Inhaltes, sondern der Art und Weise mit welcher Freude du es vermittelst..ok, auch der Schnitt ist nice :)
Great presentation Jasmin
Good advice with humor always makes for a great video! Thanks Jasmin for taking the time for us amateurs!
I was just wondering this after finding out my successful way of jumping is called a foul! You read my mind.
I have always struggled with the jump shot. Your tip about opening up your ;hand on the back stroke really helped. I just went to the table and easily jumped a full ball that was a foot away from the cue ball. Not only that but I am sure I can repeat the shot at will. Thanks!
You are welcome;)! Wrist is a powerful joint in sports!
@@jasminouschanbilliards Jasmin, I will second what Alan said. I've been playing many many years and I've got a break/jump cue in my case but rarely try to jump because I'm so inconsistent with it. I've been reluctant to practice it out of respect to the tables and other players at the room I shoot at but watched your video and took note of how you described the technique with the opening and closing of the hand to emphasize the wrist action. Tried it the other night and immediately saw improvement. At one point while playing I attempted another jump that I did not expect to get over because the ball was much closer than I would ever attempt to jump and low and behold, POP....right over without issue. Thank you for such quality advice.
Just watched the vid. Very clear and concise, the break down of the grip and wrist snap movement are very helpful. Thank you.
Excellent!
You just made my life so much easier. Been watching videos but yours finally made it click. Thank you
Thanks a lot for the video. What is a good progressive drill for learning jump shots?
Vielen Dank für das tolle Video
Excellent video! Thank you
Jasmin is the best, great breakdown.
She didn't explain how the jump is actually happening. The actual physics behind it on how your getting the pop is very important. Also practice with a break cue first not a jump cue than practice with a jump cue. It makes it way easier
OMGosh!! The beginning of the video, where you show common "terrible techniques"with the Jump Shot, was LOL hilarious!! Thank you so much for your wonderful content Jasmin.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos! I actually just noticed SVB jumping with the side elbow. This is so encouraging for me. I used to have decent jump shot till after my 2nd back surgery which fused my whole lumbar and took away my twisting ability. So i changed to the dart/spear method and i cant get enough height. Cant wait to get to a table and practice this side elbow.
Glad you feel motivated 👍🏻 Find out what works for you and take your time.
More videos to come 🤗
Thank you again for another great video with great advice!
Such a great video. I have had people try to show me how to do this, yet nothing seems to work. But with this I believe it will happen.
Thank you
Great video, your style is informative, humorous, and effortless, you are a natural! Also nice to look at... :) I've watched all of the videos on your channel and recommend them to my students, as well as your matches to study your technique, looking forward to more!
Jasmine, I have been watching you play for years (with your game face) and now find what a wonderful personality you have.
Your teaching is first rate and easy to understand. Finally, you are so energetic (and cute).
Awe you made the jumping tutorial video. You are such a sweetheart.🥰 Thanks.❤
I was wondering when this lovely lady would do a video like this . She is awesome ! Great video 👍👽
Thanks J! Your the best!
wow, this was actually pretty good. i think i found out what i'm doing wrong watching this video. thanks
Quite enjoyable and educational! Thanks!
Great video Jasmin! Thanks for the jumping tips!
Cool video. Good work with the tempo and editing, use of b-roll etc.! And great tips of course :)
All your videos are great. Thanks for this one.
Thanks Jasmin great video and instructions
Great videos! Thanks.
Geiler und kreativer Schnitt! :-)
It’s just a beautiful technique, works for me!
good video.
Great instruction. Jumping has always eluded me. Great advise at the end also. The felt sure takes a beating, and that is without my Que tip hitting it. :)
I would not want somebody beating up my table like that.
Great video. Thank you
Thank you, coach Jasmin! Love your videos so much! Very detailed and clear!
Thank you for the information about the open then closed grip. What about darting the ball with the short part of the cue?
Ya great, really well done. I’ll try out the side arm jump too.
Very informative
Jumping has always been a challenge for me. Shooting came pretty easy but tonight I'm going to practice what you said
I'm one of those who never jump but always use a curve shot and cushion shot instead
But always want to learn new things 🙃👌
Love your videos and one of my favorite pool players
The video looks great. The amount of power I use is what I struggle with. I get the dud hit in the ball I'm trying to jump over. When I do get the cue ball over the ball, I miss my object ball by an inch or two.
Love your videos Jasmin. Do these techniques work with your shooting cue in lieu of a jump cue, since APA does not allow the use of a jump cue?
i really love your video !
3:57 that dumbbell stroke! 🤣🤣
“jump with Jasmin” thx for the tips!
Gracias
Thanks for the video.
What about the cue itself?
Is there a dedicated jump cue or any old cue could be used?
What makes some cues better for jumping than others?
Thank you.
When will you be coming to Bristol TN , US again?
Thank you for the wonderful tips, Jasmin! Quick question - is it allowed to jump shot in 8 ball pool with this technique, either at a pub table or official tournament? I'm not able to find this rule for 8 ball.. Thank you and looking forward to more instructional videos 🙂
Yes. The only time a jump shot is illegal is when the shaft is used to make the jump (shoving the tip under the cue ball)
Please keep making videos. For aiming, I was always told to aim where the top of the stripe meets the white on a striped ball. Also, I'm using the Predator BK Rush +/- Break Jump cue. I've been told I should have one cue for breaking and one for jumping, and this hybrid is no good. What are your thoughts on hybrid cues?
Will do soon 👍🏻👍🏻
Honestly if you can afford it, then I would also suggest a break cue and a jump cue if you want to get the most out of it.
Hi Jasmin, the ? That I have is where do you hit the ball
THANK YOU, Jasmine
Love this
Questions:
So would you say that the wrist action, (from loose to firm, with no shoulder movement), is what stops the Que tip from touching the felt?
It does look like you drop your shoulder a bit after contact, maybe to help raise the tip away from the felt at the end of the short stroke?
Ohh, Thank you. You are good at instruction.
Great & useful videos Jasmin, keep up! I have 2 further questions:
1) What does it depend on if you use straight elbow or side one? It's the matter of distance of the obstacle ball, so the closer it is the bigger chance you have to use side elbow? Or it's just simply the matter of how you feel comfortable?
2) Even if you use a piece of material under the cueball avoiding white spots, after jumping will the cue ball leave white spots again on the landing points?
Cheers from Hungary!
Ok, front foot for jumping, TX .....mademoiselle!
Jasmin, when executing the jump shot how do you judge where you want the cue ball to land with respect to the object ball your hitting.
Do you prefer to land closer to it or further away so as to avoid bouncing over the object ball. Or do most jump shots travel about the same distance in the air before landing?
I am 62 now. Been playing all my life and jimped the curball pretty well and accurate , i have a question if anyines experienced this , the felt is about 4 years old , worn out , shinny as hell etc , is it harder to jump the cueball in old worn out felt or is this an age thing
I really like Jasmin
Hey Jasmin. You left out where is the aiming point on the object that you're trying to make or hit.
Whats that string you have on your right wrist? Is it for good luck?
Gracias Jasmín , buen tutorial pero me gustaría que tuviesen subtítulos en español y más idiomas para toda la gente
Practical..! Refreshing: Jump for "joy..!" True pedagogy
love it
NIKE shirt, Under Armour pants, New Balance shoes... the trifecta!
I always wondered what caused those white spots on the cloth.
Just got an air rush in trade for a Whyte Carbon shaft (didnt like it). This is my first jump cue. Problem I'm having is thay i have very broad shoulders from working out, and it gets super tight and i cant seek to fully get sideways or straight with back arm. Im guessing taller and more lanky frame individuals have an eaiser time jumping due to frame and height. Not really sure if i can fix rhis. Any ideas anyone?
Hi Jasmin, great video but it would be great if you could show that jump shot in slow motion because to me it looks like you are hitting down an somehow pushing up on contact. I cannot see it clearly enough although I assume you are just making g a straight push through contact when you hit the cue ball. Regardless...great video
Does how I put my hand really matter
Jumping with a jump stick is one thing, jumping long with your break cue! Need a part 2 from you!? I believe I need to change my tip. When I break it down to a jump cue, it doesn't pop as good as my dedicated jump stick.
What tips do you prefer on your jump cues? Is it the factory tip that comes with it?
Predator tip is great but I am trying out others right now
Welches ist dein aktuelles Jump Tip ?
Jasmin I like the content of your videos but need to get a clip on mic so you don't sound like your in a drum. The brick deflects sound to much.
So using a dart style method is not recommended?
I don’t believe that it is a very accurate method especially when you want to also play follow, draw, stop shots or simple need more control. Getting over the ball is easy with time… but then controlling it is the pro class!
Practiced jump and curve shots last week. Since then, my bum shoulder got even worse. So, from now on I'm going to channel Earl Strickland and say jumping sucks. :)
I think seeing the shot played from the side was what I gave been missing. The very first time I jumped was perfect. Trying to replicate it had zero success. I now realized I was basically hitting the top of the ball. I need to basically aim for the same spot as if I was playing straight ahead.
😍😍😍
In Australia a jump shot is a foul, apart from the cue ball is not allowed to leave the bed, you have an ivory cue ball, landing on a material fabric which is over a slate bed, on landing it fractures the material- which In turn eventually spreads the cloth
How smart is that
I have found jump shots more difficult because my fingers are short and I'm short. I think that makes a huge difference
👍👍👍👏👏👏
🌹🍀🏆 👍
Great video thanks. The talk about the spots reminded me of this old video from John th-cam.com/video/7SI4NhqHQ6A/w-d-xo.html
I'm a Filipino,I hope you will meet our compatriot,Efren“Bata”Reyes
Just forgot to explain how to aim your shot first then jack up on the same center line so you actually hit the ball your trying to contact. Also its called horizontal not sideways. Either way ill spot you 7-3 and if i win you can show me your grip on my shaft
Its called a break cloth
I’m waiting for the “learn how to kick safe” video..
I’m an old dog..
You're right to be sorry. I didn't like the video...
I loved it.
Why WE See Nobody that Play Dart Style any more?
I know you were not sitting on that table!.. lol
Allowing players to jump the cue ball over blocking balls makes playing safe a joke. And shooting down at the cue ball at a steep angle leaves burn marks in the cloth. Jumping should be outlawed.
Her arms are bigger than mine
You are too beautiful
Thank you 😊
She’s so good at jumping, until she didn’t know how not to jump 😂
you're so fine
You are so Beautiful Jasmin
Do you realize that some of your audience may have hearing difficulties?
I really enjoy your videos but sometimes the background sound is so irritating that I can’t watch them. There’s no need for a soundtrack when you’re talking. Please delete it from future videos.
you’re so beautiful
Jasmine come to America, and marry me
I learned to jump from a Philippineo girl in Vegas. She's a great player
