Hello Jasmin. I hope you are well. Thank you for all the instructional pool videos you put out, as they are very helpful. I have a video suggestion: tip maintenance. I think it would be very helpful to learn how to shape a tip, rough it up, know when to replace, etc. Have a wonderful day!
You know there are a lot of bar room players that HATE when you play safeties against them. They almost act like you are doing something illegal. But good safety play is a beautiful thing. And in this video those safeties, although you say they are simple, are just great to watch. Good safety play is, to me, as good as good pocketing of balls. Great video.
Tor Lowry invented a game he calls "Kick Safe." There are some videos of Bustamante and SVB playing it. It has become one of my favorite games, and is a very quick way to learn safety shots and how to escape them. I'd love to see you and your brother playing a match.
Albin is perhaps the finest tactician and best safety player in the men’s game today. Great to see his approach and Jasmine’s ability to pull off the same shots. Terrific video.
Jasmin, thank you so much for addressing the safety game with details. There are not a lot of videos on this topics. As a lower level player, we see safeties played in matches but have trouble duplicating them not knowing how they aimed or what spin was applied. We also tend to just concentrate on making a pot and often don’t recognize the opportunity for a safety. Always look forward to your advise and content.
I think Albin is one of the best players ever. He’s always under control but he is an incredible shot maker. And obviously a great safety player too. But he always looks like his heart rate never changes and he has the same expression no matter what happens.
These are some very smart shots. I used to play a similar safety game. 1 point for hitting or getting safe,2 points for kick safe, and 3 kicking it in. Great pool guys!!! Really appreciate your dedication. I tried but things got in the way. Keep up the good work all!!
Great video as usual. That would be such a great learning session shooting with you two like that. These are great tips. Also super jealous of those fortunate people that get to be around you regularly! :)
Hello Jasmin, thanks for uploading this gem of a video. In my experience, and what I see, a very good safety play will make you win the game 9/10 times. Remember, that being in control of the table is half the victory, so be patient with your safety game. Shoot em straight, and stay safe. Greetings from Denmark. /Chris.
Nice, for some reason, it is in me to give .I don't scratch, but I set the ball nicely like Merry Christmas. This last couple games. I need more finesse. Thanks for this lesson.
Thank you again for your, hot button content.... i run into this all the time... need to learn to play safe instead of trying to pot everything above my comfort zone.... I always give Great position for the opposition...LOL .... Vince
The safety game has you treating the balls as pieces in a puzzle or board game. Especially when presented to beginners or novices, it immediately engages their imagination because they must consider where the CB is going after contact.
Wow this is a fact as it does happen quite alot in 9 and 10 ball .. love the info as I have been trying to make the safeties but usually leave an open shot
There is a pool game version called Kick Safe. I played it with some professionals (usually they don't know it) and I learned so much about safeties playing against them. Safe to say, I still lost every single one of them. I first saw this game at a friends house, then googled it and found a video where Van Boening played it against Bustamante and damn that was a crazy match. At the beginning they struggled a bit but after the first few racks they put up a show i've never seen. Def worth a look
I encourage my friends to practice defensive shots like kick shots. As Jasmine said, experienced players can help improve each other's skills. Playing with more skilled players who are stronger in certain techniques can broaden your perspective and help you see different shots more clearly. Practicing these new techniques becomes easier, making you a better player overall compared to just playing 9-ball all the time. I particularly enjoy 1-pocket pool for this reason.
Cool to see that even the pros need help from one another from time to time!😂 So when can I sign up for a personal practice session with Albin?😂😂 Gonna go to the table now and play some safeties!
what tip are you using? sounds really hard, phenolic? I use my break cue at times. It helps my stroke. I focus on a pure hit. I'm not trying to over spin the cue. I fall into this tendency of over working my tip but with a good break tip you can't do that. Still get good spin. I'd play with one if not for the constant comments "your tip is coming off"....
Me and a friend play a game he came up with call screw your buddy. It's 9 ball but the goal is for one player to get the other to foul a pre determined amount of time. We play to where if you pot a ball it gets spotted back to keep more balls on the table.
These are the type of videos that need to be made. No one talks about this stuff. This video should be an hour long.
