      Mine have figured out the Bacon Cheeseburger theory. Which is to say they want their Temptations put in their food bowl on top of their kibble. Like putting bacon on a cheeseburger, it is apparently greater than the sum of its parts.

    That is absolutely Todd learning the meaning(s) of each word, and applying them in combination to make you aware of what is going on in his world.
    Thank you for continuing to share these videos and experiences. It feels like I am almost there as part of the family too :)

    Anyone who has had pets knows they understand far more than they're given credit for. Anyone who has sat quietky and observed the animals around them for any length of time also knows how much more intelligent and caring they can be.
    I once watched crow parents who lost their babies in extreme heat return to the nest repeatedly and make mournful calls for almost two weeks. It was heartbreaking.

    Todd clearly likes his buttons. When you add new words, he is right there!! His behavior shows an excitement with having something "new". (My cat loves inspecting new items that come in packages. I had thought he was looking for food treats. In fact, it is ANY package. I still don't know if it the different smells he likes or if he just is curious or if he really still hopes that every package has a treat in it......I need buttons so he could tell me the "why"!!!)

  • @Baldevi
    @Baldevi 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +5

    He's been showing ever-expanding grasp and mastery over more complex concepts daily, I'd say. He's becoming more clear with his sophistication in expression too.
    For disbelievers, I'd suggest this analogy. A Human who was neglected during formative years and has stunted language skills usually cannot develop complex speech, yet they also have complex thoughts, intelligence, and Human Cognition. If they have to express something they have only simple words for, then they will still try to express and usually can be understood nonetheless.
    In Todd or any Cat or Dog's case with talking buttons, Imagine them as a Human who has great intelligence but a language barrier, made a little more difficult because they developed their own language [termed Idioglossia Scientifically] to name the things and concerts in their world. Now that they are being taught English, they have to translate their native language in their heads and into English. This expression will sound very simple, yet it's truly complex, with intelligent thought behind it. It is up to the listener to recognize that the simple words used are not actually simple at all.
    I know a lot of people cannot accept that Animals are as intelligent and able to think as we who are observing Todd or Buffy [the talking Dog on SM] and love them are able to recognize... I have great compassion for these people. They are limiting their world, their LIVEs with this denial, usually because of guilt for their treatment of animals, thoughts about Animals being lesser beings, or discomfort in trying to adjust and drop programming about this supposed inferiority of Animals compared to Humans. It can be very painful to admit wrongdoing and faulty thinking, yes?
    So, when we encounter a "Denier" of Animal Capacity to communicate, just let them move along, do not engage with Anger, and do not assume you must convert them to the Right Side of History. Confrontation achieves NOTHING, trust me about this; I am a counselor, and I have to watch HUNDREDS of relationships splinter and break due to confrontations that are hurled back and forth instead of meaningful and thoughtful dialogue.
    Let them be a they are, and block them if possible... then turn back to Todd and Dad, and enjoy being ahead of the curve.
    I love these videos of Todd's best moments of 2024! I just adore the Kitties and deeply admire Dad, who's Pet Parent, Teacher, and Scientist all at once!

      @TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I like your analogy. The one I like to use to try to explain the way Todd expresses his complex thoughts is I will teach you 65 words (Todd's current word list) of a foreign language then turn you lose in that country. You only have those words and your body language and expressions to communicate. You will sound just like Todd trying to tell me things.

    • @Baldevi
      @Baldevi ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Excellent analogy too, Dad! Thank you, I do feel compassion for "non-beleivers" because they make their Minds and Lives so tiny with their extreme doubts, yes?

What else are animals capable of that we have no idea about? They could have a complete other world that they operate in, and we have no idea of it ... OR, does his training create pathways in his brain to enable him to understand and to "speak"??? Like in human babies...

    I do adore your videos, and discovering Todd's world, but I have to share that I'm growing sadder when I read some comments on Todd's intelligence. Yes, he demonstrates a love for interacting with his dad through the buttons : this is exceptional. Yet, by no means, other animals for not using the buttons are not stupid or lacking the very same intelligence about concepts : it's a choice. And some other animals are pretty good with their buttons, cats, dogs, and I also saw a cow the other day.
    And instead of advocating for intelligence in all beings, which whom we share this planet, it seems like people only praise "using buttons = real intelligence" ! ... T_T It truly breaks my heart...💔
    The mutes, other humans, often deaf at birth, were considered dumbs BECAUSE they lacked the ability to speak. But it was the one who owned speech, who lacked the intelligence to get the real issue. We also should remember how other cultures than Western's are considered by some and despised. I simply wish the world was a better place, a place where all beings are considered... Anyways, love to U all for this new year.❤

    Cats, dogs, horses are pets. We communicate with them with body language AND words. They have only body language to communicate with us. Just think if every animal had the ability of using words!!!! 😮 It would be impossible to let animals be our food.
